Peter Fleming "Rafa still the best player in the world"

Peter Fleming just said Nadal is the best player in the world. Intresting that a former tour player with many years of experience still feels Nadal is the best in the world.

Interesting to know. Having played with one tennis genius fleming obviously recognizes a 2nd one in nadal. :)

I have to go with federer as the best in the world right now and the favorite at the U.S. open.

Rod Laver's the best player in the world right now. If he hadn't been afflicted by that terribly debilitating disease known as "being old", Federer never would have won the French and Wimbledon this year.

Not a huge major reach to say that but it is a reach at this time.
Having said that, I bet Murry would prefer to play Roger.

Well, technically he isn't that far from the truth. A healthy Nadal is the best player in the world. Federer can't live with a healthy Nadal as testiment to Fed's peak years let alone now, and the last 3 consecutive GS finals between them have been the most brutal and damaging matches in GS history.

Federer and Fleming never did get along well. No wonder he said this.

maybe it's because fleming and mcenroe did not get along.
mcenroe says federer is the best (of all time) so fleming has to say nadal is the best (at this time) :)

Fleming and Mac were doubles partners ever since juniors and grew up together. They were best buds along with Gerulaitis. Having played against them numerous times in juniors, you could see the camaraderie.

Well,he's entitled to his opinion.I'll wait to see how the rest of the year goes to give my opinion on who's the best player in the world cause there's still USO series and indoor season to go.

I mean if Fed wins USO then yeah it's hard to argue against 3 slams but if say Nadal wins it then there are 2 players with 2 slams in the same year so then it'll come to who has won more masters titles as far as I'm concerned and Nadal so far leads Fed in that department(3 masters titles compared to Fed's 1).

Peter Fleming just stated the obvious that we knew all along. Nadal is the undisputed top player in the world who was temporarily sidelined with a grave injury. Period.

imo, nadal is probably a better competitor than federer but federer is clearly the better tennis player.

Peter Fleming's a legend.

...in his own mind. ;)

IMHO - hard to declare someone the best in the world while they are still on the come-back.

If he does really well over the next few tourneys, then I can see someone saying - see he's still the best...

Laver also had a stroke.

Oh no doubt. This ludicrous notion that because Fed won a best 2-3 match in Madrid that somehow he was on the verge of beating Nadal in Paris and at Wimby is laughable. I saw nothing from Fed at either that would have led me to believe he would have beaten Nadal.

But lets all hail King Roger!!!

Yeah, too bad Nadal couldn't get past Soderling.

Fleming is a prime example of why we should just remove the safety labels off of everything and let nature take care of itself.
