Nadal, Too Negative.

@OddJack,first of all,why have you picked Nadal as favourite to win Canada? Is it you making a bold prediction or do you actually think Rafa will take it?

Second,it's tough for him not to be pessimistic.Everything he has worked for these 4 years(winning Slams and getting closer to nr.1)got shot into the air in a couple of weeks. It'n not like it was a slow descent. And Nadal being young I don't think he has the maturity to look at the big picture,to see that he still has time. It's tough to deal with these at 23.

I believe he has recovered mentally but doesn't have confidence yet because he hasn't played and more importantly he hasn't defeated important players in quite a while. The only way for Nadal to get his confidence back is by beating Ferrer first, then taking out big guns like Del Potro,Djokovic and so on.If he can beat this guys after being out 2 months out he will get his confidence back, cause he will know he's still got it.

Typical Rafael Nadal.

Very clever.. he is trying to deflect and escape media attention.

If he "talks up" his chances, the media will start harping on and on about his knee and whether its all bravado. This negative media attention will in turn affect him psychologically.

By flying under the radar, he has more leeway to just do his thing and try to recover asap.

Ferrer match will be a real test.Looking forward to that one, they had some great matches in the past, their games match-up well IMO.

I dont want to sound rude, but I think nadal is a little inmature . I have seen him on tv in some interviews and just hanging out with friends talking in spanish, and he seems a little slow, kinda has a childish attitude.

I see the Nadal spin machine is alive and well. I don't buy the guy is being humble. If he didn't think he was going to win or had a very good chance of winning he wouldn't be playing. Simple as that. Why doesn't he just admit it?

He could be a little bit more confident, I think it will improve his decision-making.

He should have ditched some of the clay court tournaments this year. Absolutely no reason to play all of them because he is now also a top level hard court player. But his risk-averse attitude meant he stuck with his usual clay court schedule and paid the price.

Lets hope he gets back to normal.

I am really waiting for the juicy matchup tonight. Nadal vs Ferrer. I was to run out and get some popcorn for that.

lol. I was thinking the same thing. The masters tv thing I signed up for is serving up some nice images and I was thinking some popcorn would go well with the nadal match. :)

I'm sick of this "humble" crap. It's not being humble, it's making excuses before a loss.

Exactly. Rafa shouldn't have said anything. I lost a lot of respect for him after the recent comments. More for Tony than Nadal because I'm sure Tony is behind all of this.
