for his pro career, he's only used two racquets. the ps 85 and then, from 2002 to present, his custom 90 inch frame, which many believe to be the real k90.

Hmmm, so he did use the PS85. I saw some photos and couldn't tell if that really was a PS85.

Thanks guys.

If you wanna get techinical.....

PS85 - Chinese Garamond font Pro Staff 6.0
PS85 - HPS 6.0 pj

Custom 90s with pjs:
HPS 6.0
PS Tour 90
N90
K90

Now, if you believe Wilson's press release, Federer's word, and Nate Ferguson of Priority 1 - retail K90 with customized handle, old red square buttcap, and lead under the bumperguard.

The only thing consistent in appearance is him using Wilson Pro overgrip. :)

Jimmy Connors just said Roger Federer uses VERY Heavy racket, just now in his commentary. I thought Roger used a Modestly weighed frame around 12.3 oz or so which in today's pro game is not that heavy. What is Jimmy talking about ???

he used a ps85 when he beat Sampy at Wim. both players were using the same which is kind of cool. Then he was using a 90, 95, back to a 90 and bounced around for a few years. Now supposedly using the k90 with some slight mods as previous users noted.

He NEVER used a 95. That was a paintjob. He used a PS 6.0 85 with a red HPS 6.0 95 Tour paintjob for a few months and then switched to a Tour 90 with the same red HPS 6.0 95 Tour paintjob for a few months, but neither were 95 sq. in. frames.

Yeah, that's the photo I saw a while back. I noticed that Fed was using an identical racquets than Sampras was, but I wasn't sure if it really was the PS85. That's pretty cool indeed, Wilson has been very smart and kinda lucky too.

I´m pretty sure his actual frame is a modified POG.

:)

LOL:lol: Maybe that's why he uses an eastern FH grip and still manages to get all that spin:twisted:

I heard from a guy that was on the pro tour that rf's racquet is 16 ounces!

He actually did use the PS Tour 90 for a brief moment I believe.

I believe so, coz if you look close up on some of the pictures and Videos. The Prostaff 90 have 5 holes on the PWS part. Now the K90 only have 4 holes on the PWS part. Hence I think he really does used the PS tour 90 in brief time.

He did switch from 85 to 90 tho.

The PS tour 90 does have a nice pj tho.

He did use the ps85 for the beginning of his career. He had wilson make a 90 in frame with the 85 mold i believe is what i have read before. Many think it is the retail k90.

I might not be able to comment on the exact mould but I can bet that Federer has changed his rackets over a period of his international career; the note worthy thing is the shape of the hoop it was a lot rounder when he started to the more oblong shape which he currently uses.

Check the old one here looks the hoop looks more circular:

And for the new model you may google up :)

One photo alone doesn't prove anything. The "rounder" shape could be one of many factors including, but not limited to, a) photo distortion, b) stringing crosses lower than mains at that particular tourney, or c) result of 2 pt. mount vs. 6pt. mount on the stringer. I'm sure there are more theories that we can name.

I've seen many photos of him using his PS85 with the HPS pj that show the hoop shape being "normal".
