Just applied to Kmart

Applied here because it is close and i can get there easily from my home, but is it normal that they asked me to sign up for a date for an interview and that date is 3 months away?

Kmart has a pretty intense screening process. Once you have security clearance from the feds and Interpol they will pass your file along to the local authorities. If no red flags pop up you should expect to be contacted within 10-14 weeks for your physical examination, drug screening, followed by an intensive barrage of stress response simulations.

I just got a job at Polo! Pretty pumped.

I'd imagine KMart is a bit more intensive in terms of hiring than a place like Polo, which often hires teens anyway.

Seriously, if you want the job... ask to see a manager right away and then tell them you're serious about the job but can't wait 3 months for an interview.

I can almost guarantee you'll not only receive an interview quickly... you'll probably be hired within a few days.

Thanks for the advice bud. And yes to the others i am going to apply at other places such as Home Depot and Lowes.

And i applied to Kmart because it is close to home and i can get there within 10 minutes if i jog. Also i am not very interested in working in a car shop. I would rather work at Kmart than a car shop which i swhy i applied there

Sounds more like the CIA.

Is one of the simulations waterboarding the applicant to see if they will reveal the blue light special schedule?

If I was your age again, I would pick the automotive business any day. There's a future if you decide to purse later on, well, k-mart, not so much. And sounds like they're not hiring you cause 3 months is way too far down the road.

Except we obviously have different likes haha. I would rather work at Kmart through highschool if its money. I am not very interested in cars and would ont like to have a job as a mechanic even though there is decent money working as one.

As you are a talk tennis poster, have you ever thought about getting a coaching liscence? It is something that you could fall back on later in life. I remember during my summer holidays at Uni I would take a course (back then, I did the PTR course) and was able to do that....which was enjoyable and the money was good! (Please note that I am from the UK and although the weather can be...changeable at the best of times, the sun was pretty much out for most of the summer!)

But good luck with the Kmart application.

I don't think i can coach at the age of 16. Haha. You don't have to be the best to coach but i dont think i can at this age lol

I always advise young guys to work in the local hardware shop. This will let you in on how and why a lot of tools and stuff is used. . . useful knowledge. Better than McDonald's by far. . . plus you might be able to pick up additional/later work with a contractor if you really like this kind of stuff.

But it's good to know how to work a saw, a hammer, tools; know what to put on roofs, lawns, basements, etc.

You forgot that they are also subject to a polygraph examination.

Super good advice from Max. Use your early work experience to learn new skills beyond frying food. Landscaping is good hard, physical work as well. You'll get exercise and b too tired to spend your money you've earned.
