he takes very little time between points to serve

he gives credit to his opponents

he has a positive atitude about his future in tennis

he is ambitious

he doesnt make tragedies out of his loses and he isnt a crybaby

he isnt! a pusher

he has a smart game

he has no big weakness and it takes a lot of effort to beat him if he is playing god

he plays his best tennis against the top players and on hard courts he can beat anybody

he can produce great shots from both wings and has a bit of "The Magicians" flair

he seems like a fun guy

+im in his fan club :)

I'm definitely NOT trying to take a swipe at Murray, but I have to point out that, IMO, his second serve is a big weakness. Other than that, everything else you said is true.

PS: This is from a person who does not like Murray one bit.

+1...the pace of his second serve is a liability

He struggles to create pace with the forehand from the middle of the court or when you give him no pace. It's easier for him to generate pace with the backhand.

Very refreshing to see! I think even the haters are getting a bit bored of coming up with different ways to call him a pusher now.

I'd agree that his 2nd serve is a weakness but it's amazing how many players don't fully take advantage of it, i'd of thought Dent would of murdererd it but for whatever reason that wasn't the case.

Why are people posting those fail pics? Viduka has every right to consider Murray an easy player to watch. You guys cant seem to handle the difference of opinion.

While you have good points (I do like watch Murrays matches) your thread fails at been original, but if that is OK with you then no problem...

His consummate court knowledge: he seems to know every corner of the pavement and sets up his opponents to play a part in his script.

I don't find Murray easy to watch.

I think he's quite irritating in many cases, just like IvanAndreevich pointed out - his oncourt behavior is repulsive, sometimes.

Also, his game isn't particularily brilliant and I'm not exaggerating when I say he is only playing a top notch version of what I see local kids playing in the clubs and on public courts.

Take that as you will.

Very true, I am very impressed by his off-court attitudes but his on-court antics are atrocious. On the court, he's a annoying baby, off the court he's a gentleman. As for Murray being easy to watch, he's ok to watch, kinda boring considering Murray never tries to take control of a rally and bides his time

Murray is a very intelligent player indeed, he has no real visible weaknesses with the exception of his rather lousy second serve. The only time we see brilliant shots from Murray is usually when he's on the run or makes a passing shot

the murray haters(yanks) can all shut up there is no yank left in the mens draw

Not all of us "yanks" hate Murray, but then again, I'm the only one of my friends that likes Murray. There's something about his game I like seeing. Similar to the same amusement I get from watching Santoro at times because of the way he doesn't need to pummel the ball to win a point.

So if you hate Murray your automatically american?

I used to be a fan...but the on court demeanor has turned me off..i don't hate him by any means though.

Very true, good comparison.

Some people don't really get it which is fair enough. He's very much the thinking mans player, whilst some prefer to see people going for winners off every shot.

Then how do you explain Nadal fans with a dislike of Murray's game?

Murray puts me to sleep every time EASILY. Personal record: I stayed awake 4 consecutive games in a Murray match when he got badly beaten by Fed. I loved the way Fed played yet Murray sent me napping.

Although I agree with the majority of points the OP made, I DO NOT think any of them makes Murray 'easy to watch' - sorry, I agree with Blinkism here.

As it happens, I actually find him frustrating to watch. I say this without intention of flaming etc., just my opinion.

... is because he plays the kind of game that very good club players might aspire to if they worked damn hard and intelligently at it. No huge weapons (like Roddick's serve, for instance), but has developed most shots to a high level of effectiveness, and can pull most of them off at their most effective when the situation calls for them.

I'd say his DTL BH,first serve, return of serve and amazing court coverage are big weapons. His FH isn't big(not a weapon),he seems to have trouble generating hiso own pace from that side although he can place the ball very well with it,Murray overall has such a good placement from the baseline, plays similar to the way Mcenroe played from the baseline IMO.

I think we are on the same page - they're big, in the sense that they're very good AND he can pull them off at their best when needed. So, not only is he able to move the ball about intelligently in constructing the points, but also he's able to crank up the right shots at the right time when he needs them.

I've seen him crank it up from time to time, and he does it fairly often in practice. The point is though, in a match, he's not going to pull the trigger for the sake of it. If a well placed shot at 80% is going to go in all the time and elicit an error, it works better than a full paced shot that could either be a winner or go long/wide.

The guy has one of the most intelligent games.

This thread turned into the kiss of death...

... what we all forgot to mention is Murray's preference to be reactive - play one more ball, give the other guy another chance to self-destruct - rather than grab his chances proactively and win points on his own ball.

It's all very well knowing that you're fitter and can therefore outlast your opponent if it goes all the way to the wire. But sometimes, you get KO'd in 3 or 4 sets - and when that happens, knowing that you're fresh enough to tag an extra hour's training in the lockerroom gym after you've lost on court, somehow, doesn't quite make up for the loss.

im not sure if i understand your point but anyway
murray played the worst match i have seen him play and it was really disapointing to watch
i wouldnt want to take anything away from cilic but murray was giving away points like it was his birthday, cilic played solidly and its a big win for him,
his first over a top 3 player if im correct
my thread looks stupid at the moment and it came in the worst moment but i can apreciate the irony and one match doesnt really change my view on murrays game except i realised i forgot to add previously that he has to do something with that forehand of his, make it a weapon because as i understand its a lot easier to build your game around a strong forehand than a strong backhand

also, im more disapointed because if nadal wins his match with monfils ill have only one badly chosen quarterfinalist in my bracket
i had 13 out of 16 correct ones in the previous round:)

are you being funny,no? It's dreadful to watch murray play, but then again sometimes i want him to win so that he gets his ass kicked by the top 1,3,4,5,6 players!!
