A question about wristbands, Nadal vs. Federer. Did Nike change their mind?

I have posted in the shoes and apparel section about picking up some wristbands that Nadal wore at the U.S. Open in 2007. Let me show you the pic:

However, when looking at the package, underneath an attached barcode and price from Nike, is the following information:

ELS PROMO
FA07/EMEA
ROGER FEDEREER US OPEN WRISTBANDS

There is no price listed, no bar code number (just a bunch of zeros), and a date instead of the price. And yes, they spelled his name wrong!

Roger did not wear this colorway at the US Open that year. Why are the wristbands labeled as his? Did Nike make a batch for Roger and then change their mind on the colorway for his outfits?

I just found this very interesting and odd. Can anyone, maybe anyone with Nike connections, shed some light on this oddity? And really, who the heck spelled his name wrong? I am also trying to find if these wristbands were sold anywhere back in 2007. I started following tennis with passion, especially clothes-wise, in 2008. Do I have something special here?

Cheers!

And by the way, the wristbands are very comfortable. :)

Where did you get these, E B A Y? My opinion, they are counterfeit.

That was my thought too.

I emailed Nike today with a question about a different product and they got back to me pretty quickly to ask a follow up question. Perhaps you should do the same and email them directly with your question.

Nope. Bought them from Nike. Did not realize all of the fun information on the cardboard holder until I looked behind the price label they affixed. There is even a date below the 000000 0000000 UPC: "DATE: 2007/07/17"

Really odd. I might email Nike like Fee suggested. However, I will wait for more TWers to give their opinion and share their vast knowledge.

Cheers!

Did they have the same odd information?

I have been looking through the web-archive of TW for 2007 and have yet to spot those wristbands...

Cheers!
They were in a different package, almost like the package they use when they give out stuff to the pros. It had no cardboard display on the top, just wrapped in plastic with no Nike logo nor anything on the plastic. I think there was just a small sticker on the package that said "Wristband - Grey/Yellow" or something like that. Definitely not retail packaging. I don't recall it saying anything about Federer nor Nadal on it.

That type of packaging reminds me of some of the hard-to-find wristbands, especially Roger's royal blue, that I have seen on the 'bay.
I still wonder why Nike has these things labeled as Fed's wristbands when he obviously did not wear the colorway that year.

Cheers!
