Challenging variation of this thread: http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=277920&goto=newpost

Are you doing them freestanding or wall assisted?

Are you extending beyond the plane of your head (eg. supported on parallel bars, dumb bells, or similar...)?

Or maybe you're an animal and are working on 1arm handstand pushups

or planche pushups?

Me? Longterm, I'm working towards freestanding headstand pushups on the rings... but currently I can only do 4 wall assisted, with 5in elevation. Anyone else? I'm interested to know (and compare notes!) and give me motivation! These goals can take over a year and the motivation wanes sometimes :p

Ok. I haven't done these in recent memory, and at my age recent memory is 5 seconds ago. ;)

But, I just tried them against the wall. I got 6. :(

Then I lost my balance. I have a sore left shoulder right now. ;)

nice! doing even 1 is tough (particularly because of the balance factor). One of the guys i work out with took an entire summer to do just one - and he was able to bench 315+ when he first started trying (though he's 6'1", 200lbs - which is harder to balance). now i have him addicted to doing body weight exercising vs. lifting weights!

my weaker (left) side usually gives out first as well.

Whether or not I can preform handstand push ups is like the age old question of how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop--

I have not tried them without wall assistance. I do them on the pushup handles that I have and usually do 8-10 in a set getting my head to touch the ground. I do 2 sets of these twice a week as part of my routine.

Nice! Are you aiming for anything in particular?
