I agree. The mens game this decade has always been pathetic with only a few really good players at top and a bunch of scabs behind them. Now it appears even the few formerly really good top players are scabs too. Bring on even more of the WTA.

The only decent player in the top 10 that could've mixed with the GOAT era of Sampras is Roddick. Unlucky for us tennis fans the ARod is injured and we are stuck with a bunch of clowns getting owned by their respective pigeons.

A failure of a post if you ask me.

All this does is show the depth of the top 10. Davydenko is an amazing talent and only lost to Federer so many times because he was intimidated. He finally overcame that, in part due to Federer's weaker form of course. Soderling is clearly a huge hitter. He's not where he is due to some fluke.

It's nice to see this kind of competition. If the usual suspects were in the final then you'd be complaining about the decade being weak just as you are now.

Davydenko an amazing talent, ROTFL! Davydenko is a poor mans Kafelnikov, basically a weaker version of Kafelnikov's monotnous baseline game, and most people ridicule Kafelnikov and call him the worst 2 slam winner ever.

Combine your ntrp ratings and you still couldnt make the 3.0 singles league.

Awww snap!!!

Seriously though people, is TTW ever going to grow a memory function that extends past the current tournament? Djokovic and Murray both won tournaments this month. Fed and Nadal are both going into 2010 defending GS titles. They lose a few matches in the last tourney of the year and we're relegating them to the challenger tour.

Thats all true but none of the top 4 at least reaching the final? Still a bit of a joke to me. It's the Year End championship event, the strong should come out on top not some random masters where top players are prone to early upsets.

You have a point. I can't really tell because the ATP's site sucks ass, but might be the first time none of the top 4 made the YEC final. Guess it had to happen eventually.

It always amazes me how hard some people are on players at the top of ANY sport. He stinks, she stinks, they stink, and on and on....

Geez... have some respect for the sport. Making it in ANY professional sport, especially into the top 10, hell top 1000, is an amazing accomplishment.

Maybe it is.

But how do you explain none of the top 4 reaching the final? The top 4 still is a bit of a joke, at least for this tournament, which is quite important.

There are a lot excellent players out there, you know. Quit digging a deeper hole. This thread is a big fail.

Nope - shouldn't do that either.

Prediction: Marcos Baghdatis will record one of the most dominating seasons on the Challenger circuit in 2010, winning 15 events including the coveted Grand Triple Challenge, beating Federer 6-3, 6-4 in the Sunrise final, downing Nadal 7-6 (6), 6-4 to win in Bordeaux, and triumph over Horacio Zeballos 3-6, 7-6 (11), 7-5 in an epic duel to claim Tashkent. Baghdatis will then play in his first ATP series tournament in Valencia, where he will lose in the opening round to Almagro, 6-7 (9), 6-2, 6-1 and will retire the greatest Challenger player to ever live.

That no 5-8 is also VERY good and that the men`s tennis is healthy, this happens all the time, the difference between the no1 and the no8 is very small and it can go either way on any given day.

Uh... because everyone in the tourney is in the top 10... in the WORLD!!!!

What question is that? Your original post was full of ridiculous statements.

Given their rankings and the nature of the WTF format (no one-match elimination) shouldn't the top 4 be the favorite to win this, yet none of them makes the final?

As for the second part of your post, yes they were meant to be a joke.

i cannot understand some peoples logic behind putting down players so much; yeah you dont have to like them but for gods sake give them some respect for what theyve done. unless youve seen the way these guys play up close, you have no right to say such offensive and, quite frankly, idiotic things about them.

I suppose, but it doesn't mean that they are going to win. If match results always ended with higher ranked player defeating lower ranked player, then we might as well not watch tennis at all.

TW should start selling leather-bound remote controls, several gripsizes, with an extra button that links them to this forum.

Simple, two out of three versus three out of five. The game is deep in two out of three. Heck, Murray is probably the king of two out of three right now. But in majors, the cream rises to the top. WTF is cute, but I doubt Fed/Djoke/Nadal are really upset about not making the final. Murray is a different bird and probably feels wronged missing the semis by one game and wanted to win at "home," but he loves those non-slams.

It's a weak era if the guys at the top dominate the field and it's a weak era if they get beaten. Sheesh...

Why don't you get out there and show us what some real men's tennis looks like, or at least post a video of your superior world class skills so we know to take you serious. But the safest bet is you are the joke.

This post can actually be used to reply to any internet threads that criticize tennis players or sportspeople in general. And believe me, there are a lot.

i would pay a LOT of money to see some of these so-called knowledgeable posters sharing their views with the pros they put down so easily on here after one of the big matches. i think the result would involve lots of brown stains on their trousers.

Most of the armchair pro coaches around here have no idea the amount of pace is on the ball during these matches and also have no idea the level of hand eye coordination the top pro's have. To the point that it just makes the guys that do it appear to have the IQ of a fruit fly.

No its still a strong era, they just have been a joke this particular tournament.

They've been fine. Perhaps you should use this as an opportunity to familiarize yourself with players not named Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, or Murray. I hear some of them are pretty good.

agreed, i went to the fed delpo match and verdasco murray match on thursday; to say anything negative about these guys if you're not as good or better than them, (which most of these posters seem to think they are) is just downright stupidity. things like feds backhand is poor, delpos movement is bad, murrays a pusher, etc. just don't seem to make sense when you see the pace, timing, footwork and effort that goes into every single shot. again, i would really love to see these posters take on any pro, from 1 to 1000 and lose 0 & 1 just to see the difference between a really good player, and someone like federer or murray. Then they can see the stupidity in their own comments

Davydenko takes the ball earlier more consistently than Kafelnikov ever could. Did you see what he did to Rafa in Miami last year? Schooled. At his best he's a serious threat to any player, even at their best.

Have you ever seen Davydenko play in person?

Uhhh, considering both Murray and Djokovic were eliminated because of some stupid rule (they were both 2-1... like all the semifinalists)... you can say they pretty much did as well as they should have to make it to the semis.
