I can't believe that's even a legitimate sport. Looks like something a bunch of 5 year olds would make up in their backyard.

You mean like Golf? As a golf fan you should be the last person questioning the legitimacy of certain sports

You're right, cricket certainly is a sport. One of the very best around. Have you been hearing much of what the South African's have been coming out with during England's tour? They're even cockier than you Aussie's were when you were number 1! Hopefully we'll put them in their place too ;) lol.

As for dispicable acts, Henry's double handball against Ireland and Maradonna's "Hand of God" against England in 1986 were both pretty unsavory.

The TV helicopter pilot who literally fanned the flames at the Grand Prix de Monaco, 1967.
Lorenzo Bandini died 3 days later. I'm convinced his burns would have been much less severe and he would have survived, if not for the helicopter. I was a teen, it made a huge impression on me.

I had never heard about that - how horrifying!

Todd Bertuzzi's attack on Steve Moore in 2004. The biggest cheap shot I've ever seen. Bertuzzi punched Moore in the back of the head then jumped on him while he fell to the ice. The results?: 3 broken vertibre, facial cuts, and a severe concussion. As of today Moore still hasnt been medically cleared to play again as far as I know.

Yes hockey is a ruff sport. Yes there is fighting, but you do it face to face when both players agree to it, not a sucker punch and run away like, say NBA players do (Carmelo).

Maradona's " hand of God" act was disgusting!!!

Dont see anything wrong with this, unless your a English fan of course. Its just another incident where a ref made a bad call. It happens all of the time, just like the Ed Hockuley (idk how to spell it) call last year in the NFL. Refs are humans, they mess up and as a professional player they're not gonna go up and say "oh you missed that, please change it in the other teams favor." Just part of PRO sports.

Any sports injury that is shown in slo-mo as it is happening. For example, Joe Theisman's leg as he was getting tackled by Lawrence Taylor. I was reminded of this by the movie - The Blind Side. For those who don't know who those guys are, they are American Football players (NFL).

Keith Ballard almost killing his own goal tender, this just happened yesterday I believe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxy2LAZJktE

lol @ the empty seats in the atlanta area. Yeah but damn, that almost looked deliberate

I didn't realize it wasn't deliberate at first. I think the title of the thread primed me for something horrible/despicable related to sports, so I when I saw the clip I thought he smacked his goalie because he was angry he had let in a goal. It was only after I saw it in slow-mo did I realize it was an accident.

I can't believe that's even a legitimate sport. Looks like something a bunch of 5 year olds would make up in their backyard.

I agree. I watched about two seconds of that clip and then had to stop as I got sick to my stomach.

Marty McSorleys hit to Brashear was bad. Like 2 secs left and he whacks the guy on top of his head with the stick.

go to about 1:35 to see the hit fully.

The recent incidents of the NFL football player and I believe an Arena league player as well, died in result of a tackle that must have hit just right....or wrong I guess. Tragedy like that surely is among the worst.

Wrestling is not fake,

scripted not fake. Big difference. those guys are going through real pain every night. When someone falls off the top rope or goes through a table off the entrance ramp i dont know how you fake that. People who call it fake have no clue about the wrestling industry.

with that said its not a sport. Entertaining and athletic but no sport can have a script.

The worst I witnessed Live:the Zidane heatbutt.Shocking for me because I was and am a big fan.

From videos I have seen is this.. because it was extremely unfair and unlucky.:(
Boban Jankovic, bball player, slams his head out of frustration on the goal post because he commited 5th foul.To thousand viewers' suprise he falls down, unconcious and then starts shouting and cries that he can't move his arms and legs. From a single moment of stupidity and anger-that happens to every athlete, never been able to walk again.Couldn't find any video on the internet but it was very heartbreaking. He spent the rest of his life in a chair and regretting that one moment of stupidity.

Also very shocking was this: *it's very horrible injury*
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIWWYOqG_9s

and I remember I had seen another of that kind in football.

I really wonder who this is. He must be a good pro because this was televised in eurosport and seems to be a big atp tournament.
But it said that his career after this was finished.

I thought it was Stich, as far as I know. And no, if he's indeed Stich, his career didn't end after that-

Uh, a tennis forum and it takes 3 pages to someone bring up Seles' stabbing?

You know, you're right. Even when it happened there was not a lot of hoopla in the US like other sports/fan interactions (i.e., those two freaks who attacked first-base coach for White Sox).
