Wilson Hollow Core Pro?

Any opinions on this string? Wilson calls it a "polyvalent", whatever that means? Is it s syn gut or a multi? I know a lot of people didn't like the original Hollow Core, but they must have improved it with the Pro model?

For those that have tried it, how is comfort? power? spin?

I just love HCP17! It is HUGE upgrade over HCO. I recommend it for 18x20 patterns tho. Great feedback, control, power and sound (very important for me). Durability is not so good for open patterns but there is always a trade-off :)

Just curious.....why is "sound so important" and how does thr HCP sound different?

How is the softness? Do u think this string feels crisp or soft?

It feels crisp (definitely more crispy than HCO). The sound is important for me. Yeah, I know it sounds crazy but it is true. I simply cannot play with mushy strings with dampened feel and muted sound but that is just me :)

Do you think these would be OK for someone with slight tennis elbow issues?

Just tried some Hollow Core Pro on my BLX95 18x20......

really liked it.....nice soft , pocketing feel.....lots of powers! I mean lots.
Next time I will need to go up from 53lbs, which I strung this time. Other thing is that the strings moved around a lot right away. Probably more than any other I have seen before. That could also be due to the lower tension I tried it at. But all in all I really liked the feel and sound of the string and it's pretty economically priced. One other thing I forgot to mention, was that this string starts fraying like gut. It doesn't wear like a typical multi. Don't lnow if that is a good or bad thing.

So it really is an update from the past Hollow Core?

Interesting. I wonder if this thing will pop as fast as the previous HC.

This was part of the playtest string...I put it in a PT90 and it was all right but nothing too special for me, but glad you like it.

You strung it at 53?!?!?! Man that's low! I have some now, I was going to string at 60!! at max!
I'll let you all in when I'm finished.

I string most multi's on the low end of the racquet's range. The Wilson BLX95 is range 50-60, so 53 isn't THAT low. But the Hollow Core Pro either loses a ton of tension right away or just needs to be string higher than normal. I would recommend going 2-3 lbs higher than usual on this string.

Pros: soft, powerful, feel's nice, great sound
Cons: durabilty, frays like gut, tension loss

This seems like a love it or hate it string. The big question marks for me are durability and tension loss. Other than that, I really like it. Next time I will try it at 55,56 lbs.

I hit with this stuff, I did the same playtest Joel Dali did. I thought it was very very average personally. It did not really do much for me. I believe I had it at 58#s.

It makes a really crisp "pop". I strung it up in a Agassi LE OS. They moved like crazy the first 45 min but once the settled down a little they didn't move as much. I only hit with it for abut 3 hours but I would try it in a bybrid as the cross string with gut or multi mains.

Sorry Jack I just saw your question. Well, I guess you already know the answer :) Just in case my answer is - yes I do! :)

Btw, like my friend says: you either use polys or you don't. People who like/use polys will never like string like HCP. Just my $0.02

I was also part of the playtest. I busted these in 2 weeks, playing a total of maybe 18-20 hours. Strung it at 58'ish I think in a K90 and thought they were very low powered, probably as a result of the higher tension. I felt good control, okay spin, very crisp though. They will move around on you though.

Average string. Its a move in the same direction Wilson is taking their racquets..............the wrong one.

Even at that high tension they moved a lot? I strung my BLX95 at 53 and for the first hour, every time I hit a ball, the strings would moove all over the place. Was pretty annoying and unfortunate because I loved the feel and power and comfort of the string.

Bob...we seem like the only one's that like it :)

What tension did u string your at and what racquet?
Did you have a lot of string movement the first day? Does it settle down after that?

I like this string, but not sure if I like it enough to use it regularly. I'm usually content using a 17g syn gut. However the HCP does have a nice crisp feel and strong sound as well. Control and power is evident on shots. Imo its sorta like a syn gut but with a more rewarding feel and sound. I cant believe its stiffness is only rated 180. Anyways will find out how this string holds up over time in the BLX90.
