Matches That Rodge Lost Having Match Points

How many matches did Fed not have matchpoints in 2005?

I guess it'll have to be two matches.. one of them was very close, he lost in a tie-break in the deciding set 10-8 to Gasquet. The other one wasn't so close.. it was the Nadal match in FO. But he could have easily won every single one of those matches (except the one vs. Nadal) with just a little more luck.. It would have been insane if he had lost just one match during that year.

Are you sure about the one against Nalbandian? He was two sets to nill up but I don't remember Federer having MP.
I think you are right. He lost the third and the fourth sets by a big margin and was serving for the championship at 6-5, 30-0 in the fifth, but never had match points.. After he dropped his serve Nalbandian won the tie-breaker relatively easily

I'm not sure Federer held a MP in the Tsonga match... Also in the 2005 TMF Final against Nalbandian he had no matchpoints, went 30-0 up on his serve at 6-5 final set, but was broken to 30.

2005 Australia - Safin
2005 Monte Carlo - Gasquet
2005 Masters Cup - Nalbandian
2006 Rome - Nadal

This one is wrong, he served for the match at 6-5 in the fifth, went 30-0 up, then lost the next 4 points to get broken, and lost the tiebreaker 7-3.

No he didn't, against Tsonga he was 5-1 up and served for it twice, but ended up losing in a tiebreaker.

Against Hewitt in the 2003 Davis cup he was two sets up, and served for the match at 5-4 in the third but I don't think he ever held match points. Also what about the Roddick match in Montreal in 2003?

I think he actually did squander one or two matchpoints in that one.

10 years ago (already !), there's also the 2000 vienna SF with henman... (henman went on winning the tournaments, beating haas in the final)

Olivier Rochus had a match point against Federer in Halle 2006. Imagine Rochus beating a prime Federer on grass.

Federer never had match point in that match. He was 2 points away from victory, but never 1 point away. Federer served for the match at 7-5, 6-2, 5-3, BTW
