Well it would be weird if you called your cat your son. I might stop talking to you if that was the case. But my mom calls our dog her baby to. Maybe its a female thing to call their pets baby.

You watching the hockey tonight? I just kicked out of my living room for screaming for someone to kill Crosby. God I hate that guy.

Nope, no hockey for me tonight. I spent all afternoon doing skills testing at City Hall so am now mellow. I have my diet coke double gulp beside me, the t.v. on in the background and am responding to some friends on FB about Paws.

Sounds like you are having about as fun of a friday night as I am. If you want to get the old chat up and going again I am all for it. I am just sitting cursing at a hockey game.

Hey, don't complain about boring! It could be a Saturday morning where you rocked up to your desk expecting to do some moderately complex exercise prescription for an assignment, and instead opened the book to see that it's straight-up boring and instead they've done the thinking for you!

Stupid lowest-common-denominator world we live in.

What are you getting your degree in? Its obviously in some kind of athletic training field but which one?

Not a degree dude - I wish (well, I have a degree but not in sport sci). Just redoing my gym instructor quals and finishing my PT quals. I used to instruct & train quite a few years ago and I'm getting back into it. Nothing special at all....

It's a PT assignment I'm working on today, and yeah, so depressing that it's so, so prescribed. That said, it's targeted at the average potential PT (usually jocks with questionable between-ears content), and that at least means in the marketplace it's possible to differentiate oneself based on intellect and approach....

If I were going to do another degree, well, if I had three lifetimes I'd go do med, psych and sports/exercise science ;)

Well you seem very knowledgeable in the fitness section. It was nice to hear from someone who knew what they were talking about. Even if we didnt agree on everything. :)

As for the second part I have read enough of those. So dumb that they end up collecting dust on my book stand. I often wonder why they make them so simple then I meet some of the guys working as trainers at big chain gyms and understand.

Aren't they big enough to swim in? ;)

I'm trying to give up coke zero. It works for the 23h and 50m a day that I'm not physically consuming one. Does that count?

I have not had a soda in 2 years. I used to drink alot of it but stopped. Amazingly I stopped having heart burn all the time. A great decision to stop that.

Thanks man, and indeed - likewise with you. It's nice when you end up in a discussion on here with people that you can debate an issue, and it not turn into a stupid sledge-fest that happens so often but potentially an area to learn from! The H&Fitness area can be good for that, but even it can have crap times too - there was enough crap thrown to make Ano leave, and that's a genuine shame. He was, in training and PT terms, almost a god.

Indeed. Previously my focus was on group-training for sports performance, training squads in a couple of sports, but it was only ever for fun or for casual work on the side.

I think this time around - in addition to that - one of the key products I'm going to offer people is full-on goal-oriented-programs. Periodize them over maybe 3 months, detail it, etc. Basically make it the exact opposite of "do 8 exercises for 3 sets of 12 reps 3 times a week and spend some time on a treadmill", which as you'll no doubt know describes 90% of programs you get from a PT. Hopefully programming is an area where differentiation is really possible.

Nice work. Coke zero is my only vice left, and it mostly serves my caffeine needs. I have given up before, will try to again soon.

C Chick-glad to hear you're doing well. I'm trying to follow the NHL playoffs. I'd like to see the Canadian teams do well (fat chance! ha ha ) Maverick-my brother hates Sid Crosby too. I guess he's not the really cool guy the media makes him out to be???

Thanks CCNM. It seems to come in waves now. Tonight we are having a memorial bonfire for him and I plan on buying a memorial ring. Little steps.

Just curious CC honey, but have you heard any littles "meows" when you are alone? I heard Winnie several times the first week or two. She was letting me know that she was still right there beside me in spirit.

No I haven't ILC but I hear the floor squeak every once in a while as though he has walked over it. We had the memorial tonight and it was very cleansing. I will always love and miss him but I feel a little more at ease with his passing and know he will be waiting for me. I strongly recommend this to everyone - it really does help.

I'm sorry about your kitty CC. The loss of a pet is like losing a family member. Absolutely horrible. Well wishes.

Thanks Meg, I appreciate that. He was the most amazing, wonderful guy and I am truly blessed that he shared such a large portion of my life.

The floor boards squeaking is the same thing! He's still there with you. It's such a comfort knowing that. My little Angel still lets me know that she is here from time to time.

I have something for chocolate lovers. This recipe is soooo simple, it's almost a crime not to make it. All you need is a fork, a tablespoon, a large coffee mug (or 2 if you want to share), and a microwave. Most people will already have the ingredients on hand. I takes maybe ten minutes from start to eating, depending on how fast you can measure and mix.

http://www.yummymummyclub.ca/yummy_grandmummy_5minute_chocolate_cake_

I have made this once with unsweetened cocoa (the recipe doesn't specify) and it was just fine, so I'll continue to use that until I run out, then try it with regular cocoa. Since there was no frosting, I just poured some heavy whipping cream on it, but next time I might top it with dark chocolate shavings before I put it in the microwave to see if that creates a topping for it.

Feel free to share this with everyone you know. :)

I sure hope so because I am so lonely without him.

Back in Jan/Feb 2009 we lost our poodles one month apart.
Henri was 16, and Claire was 15. They kept my wife company while I worked 3rd Shift for 7 years. They moved with us three times. They're still here, at Mary's request. Next to the 40 year old boxwoods with a bird house as a marker.
We waited one year, and a week to get new pups. Mixed poo-chi's named Bud and Pal.

Hey CC,

Have you visited any pub recently? Last night, I was in a pub to celebrate my best friend's birthday. It was so much fun and brought me back a lot of memories.

I got my new dog this weekend. Its going good so far but I am having a tough time with his crate. I hate it but he will pee and poop all over the place right now if I dont. I love puppies but more so when they learn not to pee on the floor.

Oh, I don't drink coffee. I promised my mom when I moved to California that I would never do drugs.

Glad you had a good time. No pubs lately...the weather is nice so we tend to do drinks on the deck instead.

Mav...I am smitten!!! Oh, I could just love that little one up! Was he the top or the bottom? Are you the one in the pics? Please give a little scratch behind the ears for me?

He was the top dog. We didnt even pick him though the guy we got him off of told us he was the smart one. He was already herding the ducks at the farm we got him from so he is a smart little guy. Thats what he will eventually be doing is herding so we wanted him to be a little more assertive.

Those are my hands and my sweatshirt that he is attacking. He is a biter right now. If he isnt sleeping he is biting something. He loves wires so you gotta watch him. I cant stop playing with him though he is so soft and he wont leave my side. Even when he eats I have to be next to him or he wont eat.

The good news is my dog and him are getting along fine. I was a little worried that there was gonna be fights but they have been fine. She snapped at him once but in all fairness he bit her on the butt. If someone bites your butt you can snap back at them.:)

Ive been lucky its been nice out so he is outside all day and no puddles. I know its gonna happen but it can wait for a long time.

Oh, I agree Mav! lol. She is precious for sure. I wish her a long, healthy and happy life.

I picked my love up today. Such a tiny urn for such an important part of my life. While I was there and they were asking how everything was, they told me that someone dropped a cat off to be euthanized a week or so ago. She is only three years old and perfectly healthy but those selfish pieces of waste have allergies so they wanted her put down! The clinic refused of course and are trying to find her a good home. She is a siamese cross and what a lover!! I agreed to meet her and as soon as I touched her she was wanting to be picked up and was rubbing her face against my neck and face. Someone knows an easy target when she sees one! lol.

I told Shari that I would need to bring Paws home first and sleep on it. I was planning on picking up a couple goldfish on Wed but who knows?

She is a he unless your talking about my older dog then you are correct. My older dog is 10 so I dont expect her to play with him at all. Its like telling the grandparents to play with the sugar overdosed kids. Its just not gonna happen.

Putting a cat down because of allergies is sick. I am serious. I cant stand cats I really cant but I would never kill one because it makes me sneeze. This is why I could never work at a shelter. I would be pissed at all the people who bought a pet without actually looking at what they were getting into.

My new puppy has had me up at 5 and 4:30 both mornings. doesnt make me happy at all but it comes with having him. Anyone on here that has had a dog since it was a pup I am sure has a stories of the 5 in the morning pee run outside. Its a run because I have seen one let it go half way down the stairs.

Its a tough call. Owning one is a big commitment. Which ever way you go I still respect you for even thinking of trying to help an animal that was giving a raw deal. If you take the cat its going to a good loving home and who knows she might help you just as much as you help her.

And I have fish. They suck. They dont do anything but fish around all day. My dads thing today was buying ducks so the new guy can herd them. I am talking him out of that one.:)

Absolutely...my Angel Winnie chose me. She felt sorry for the nice but slightly wacky lady that didn't have a kitteh of her own. She thought I needed her and she was right. I'm sure CC will make the right decision.
