you sure about Federer? seems to me like more of a semi-western grip...a bit more eastern than western actually....

I'll just start naming off a bunch. But to get things straight, NOT FEDERER! His average forehand grip (and I say that because he uses all of them if you watch) is more semi than anything else.

Gonzalez
Ferrero
Roddick
Moya (basically)
Chela
CORIA
Safin (almost)
Kuerten
Hewitt (pretty sure)
Massu
Lopez
Nadal

ETC.

Fedex is using Semi - Western mostly but does look like he hits sometimes with eastern to flatten out the shots more, especially when he gets a short ball. Otherwise he's constantly whipping his forehand with plenty of top spin with semi - western grip.

The pros change their grips for the surface they play on. You will see lots of eastern and semi-western at wimbledon, lots of western at Roland Garros, and semi-western and western at the US open and Australian Open.

i use extreme western and i can pretty much tell by their take back and their swing follow through, im pretty sure federer is using semi western, and Im pretty sure roddick uses full western, and Hewitt , seems like hes using western but when i was at the open 2 years ago and asked jason stoltenberg, he said that hewitt is using semi, so i dont know,.and safin is defintely not western, more like semi

Roddick uses an extreme Semi-western, Watch his interview with Jonathan Ross on youtube, JRoss had a cheapy racket and asked Roddick what fh grip he used and it was certainly an extreme Semi-western.

Ferrero, Nalbandian, coria, hewitt ++ uses moderate semi-western. Roddick and Robredo uses extreme semi-western. Nadal and Grosjean is at a half-western (closest to western grip on tour). John Yandell terminology...

I disagree with this. Can you site specific player(s) that would change his/her grip entirely from one surface to another? I doubt that you can.

They don't, It's an absurd comment imo, A change in grip completely changes the swingpath.

this is a stupid comment as previously mentioned
it is very hard to change your forehand grip because your muscle memory is so used to hitting the ball in a certain way....no way that would Ever happen
lol Imagine seeing Tim Henman playing with a western and Roland Garros then deciding to "switch back to an Eastern at WImbledon a couple of weeks later
stupid

Let's not forget about some of the women who use western grips...Nicole Vaidisova, Amelie Mauresmo, Francesca Schiavone, and Nadia Petrova.

Ha. I've never heard of pros changing grips on different surfaces... that's like relearning how to hit the ball!

your mom uses a full western grip
(yourmom08 uses a full western grip also :))

i think the vast majority of players use western grips, pros that don't are in the minority if you ask me

off topic i know, but anybody use a hawaiian grip? i think i have only ever seen it used by women for some reason

This is patently incorrect, either you were going for humour and didn't quite make it, or you really don't understand pro tennis...
