Its been far too long since I've been able to kick back with a boel of popcorn and watch scum bags have their lives ruined right before my eyes. I couldn't get enough of that show when it was on. Maybe we should start a petition and send it to NBC. Man that show was priceless, especially when the creep break down and start crying...LMAO!

The only people who enjoy watching people's lives ruined, enjoy it because their own lives have no meaning either and they know they can relate to them and not feel so alone. Go figure.

Nah, the show as pretty damn funny. It's always nice to hear that some child molester gets what's coming to them, and to have Chris Hansen bring it right to your living room TV is awesome. While the OP and I enjoy seeing karma take it's toll, you probably enjoy "raining on others' parades" and ruining other people's threads. Go figure.

Well said Anaconda. Most reality shows cater to the pathetic souls who take pleasure in degradation of others (Jillian yelling at the toiling obese, Simon humiliating lousy singers, etc.) so there ought to be enough on TV to keep the Rockitdog with his "boel" of popcorn amused.

This show is an interesting show...but highly disturbing. It's hard to believe these "predators" exist while most of them look like average guys whom I see at work or otherwise. Very sad.

Could disagree more- but to each their own.

This sounds incredibly sadistic even if those people are predators. I still can't figure out how someone can gain pleasure from others' misfortune. Something in human nature, most likely. Same people who were saying they wanted to see Gardner's execution on TV and that it would make a great show.

This. I'd say the show does have a serious purpose of opening people's eyes, though, and most everyone knows a relative with a molested child. This shouldn't be. But getting a kick out of someone's humiliation is very base.

I predicted that the reality TV craze wouldn't last more than a few years. Some 15 to 20 (?) years later it is still going strong. I always wonder what kind of people watch this stuff. Then I get a look at the ratings and realize that the answer is "about everyone". I also imagined that it only appealed to children and very young "adults", but that isn't true either.

SERIOUS QUESTION: For those of you that enjoy reality TV, can you tell me what you like about it?

Alright, you got me, I admit to watching the bad auditions on American Idol, but that's about it.

That this show may get horrid creeps off the streets ...then 'great' ..... that said:

That the viewer (you and/or I) should gain some 'visual' satisfaction from it? Creepy.

The "crime" is the slime..... "The View" (and tabloid shows of that ilk) are not about exposing 'the creep' factor; not about "concern" .... they're about jacking up "ratings." Uggh....

bottom line: the poor kid.....sheesh, what the phuck "jollys" are we gettin' off on here?....whew...

it's all bad....it's all phucked up..bust the scum and let the "man" put 'em away for good...

but: who wants/NEEDS to see the 'bust"??????...yuck...turn the channel....i don't need to see justice served...just put the chicken hawk in the pen, thank you...

People's lived ruined - who go online seeking out underaged girls. Not exactly the most sympathetic of characters.

We'll always have Chris Hansen...

As long as shows like COPS, America's Most Wanted, and others are still long running and on air, people shouldn't have their panties in a bunch over TCAP. Gotta love self-righteous holier than thou indignation though. :?

Rockitdog: I believe TCAP still comes on from time to time on MSNBC during the weekends, along with those Lockup shows. Just check your program guide and see when some are coming on.

I don't watch any reality TV, except sports which are the ultimate 'reality' TV. But I can tell you why they're still around - they're CHEAP to produce. So everyone has piled on. And I do buy into the 'watched by people with sad little lives so they can look down at others and feel a little better about themselves for an hour' theory.

Off topic, but sports aren't as good as they used to be IMHO.

The athletes are far superior, but the "product" is much worse.

About all I watch on TV is tennis (though the wife makes me watch NFL when that is in season.........yes, you heard me right, my wife makes me watch it. Personally, I think it is boring).

Sorry but I don't consider being an online sexual predator a "misfortune". Getting cancer or another fatal disease or being in a horrible automobile accident is what I consider misfortune. I consider this show watching people get what they deserve.

Every show is the same...boring IMO. Bring back Primetime: Crime please or better yet, American Justice. Murder trumps peds any day.

Chris hansen? Yeah because he's some TV god isn't he and we should all marvel at his work.

I think it's wrong too (peds and stuff). However this whole thing of showing people up on live T.V isn't good for more reasons than one. It would be acceptable if they did it behind closed doors with no cameras, but showing peds on live TV caught in the act could seriousl do harm to the parents, brothers and sisters of those paedophiles. They could get abused for it also and it's not their fault. But i guess in your world it is their fault for bringing them into this world.

I watch reality TV. But only a certain kind.

I don't like anything that encourages people to do bad things or to be unhappy with their own lives or destroy their own personal relationships. So no plastic surgery shows for me. No crash weight loss shows. No watching bad singers or bad dancers get humiliated. No watching people air their dirty laundry in public.

I do like harmless, good old-fashioned fun. So I like things like Iron Chef. Top Chef. Project Runway. Chopped. Especially interesting to me is watching someone with a creative talent I don't have. If you tell me to go to a hardware store with $100 and buy enough stuff to make a cute dress, I wouldn't know where to begin. If you give me a completely white room and tell me to decorate it, I will give you a completely white room. It's fun to watch people be more creative than me.

The next category of reality show I like would be watching people do mundane things that are interesting for a while until I get bored. There's a show on TLC called "Say Yes to the Dress." You watch brides to go a salon and pick a dress. It's interesting to me to see what people are wearing at weddings and what dresses cost nowadays. I also like House Hunters International because I like watching somebody go to Costa Rica and buy a house -- how else will I ever know what houses in Costa Rica look like? [edit: I also used to watch some emergency room medical shows -- it helped me resolve to always wear a helmet and never get on a motorcycle. Dang!]

There's your answer.

Regarding "To Catch A Predator," I don't watch it because it's rather repetitive. I do think anything and everything that keeps these creeps off the street and makes people think twice is good, so I support the idea of this show although I don't care to watch it.

Hansen was very lucky he never met a violent predator. One day a guy with a 9mm was gonna walk in and when he said, "I'm Chris Hansen and you're on NBC Dateline." The predator would have said, "...and I don't give a s***."

If I recall correctly, they showed Timmy Mcveigh's execution on Pay-Per-View. Not my kind of thing but apparently some folks like that stuff.

That would make me LOL.

Interesting that people associate reality tv with losers. And we know what losers they mean. As in, no job, no education, little money, and a pot habit. However, a person in my family (who drives a Mercedes, has enough money not to work, goes on European vacations, and always at the mall. A typical Cleopatra snob.) admits to watching shows which feature people with illnesses because it supposedly reminds her that her life isn't so bad.

As for me, I used to watch Survivor, a bit of American Idol, and the Ultimate Fighter. Now, I just watch Americas Got Talent.

My suggestion is to kill them all and lock them up in jails. I think when guys are interested in younger girls, they are potential predators.

Things to share you all. I received a strange phone call at 2:20 am to ask for companion over the phone. I had no idea who made a call. Now, I am afraid of picking up any call without showing caller ID on my phone.

Hence, Ladies watch out for predators. They might be right next to you.

I gain pleasure from others' misfortune. But only if the "others" deserve it.

Im surprised that didnt happen often. Taking Hansen hostage would give the Pred. some leverage against the cops patiently waiting outside @_@.

Im always thinking ahead though...

Ya, people with money can't be "losers"........because they have more money than you.

Why does this rich lady in your family have to watch sick people on TV to realize her life isn't so bad?

Maybe some people just enjoy seeing those who take advantage of the children of America captured, humiliated, and locked up.

I find it a blessing that even one of these pieces of crap is taken off the streets...makes it even better that I get to see it done.

I get the same pleasure looking in the paper and seeing a person who's been caught numerous times driving drunk thrown in prison for a good long time.

It means that there is one less 'harmful (or possibly harmful)' person out on the streets that could hurt my 13 year old daughter or 3 year old son!!!

Well a whole new show would be where they catch/arrest the predator at their place of work. Like all the headlines: Schools and churches. Get some of those great looking female teachers who are doing the underage boys....lots of those.
Then, There are the Youth Ministers.
That would make a great show.
