UA - rain started a little after 10am today and Jr doesn't get up early on the weekends. HAHA! might need to find an earlier rising partner if this early rain continues.

still digging the BG. got 3 sets in a string trade.

My little one just started making it into the 7 o'clock hour recently. An 8 AM wake-up time feels soul recharging after the last year and a half!

Almost cracked my racquet yesterday. Played after the rain and it was so humid. Slipped out of my hand on a serve and luckily landed handle first. The grip was wet enough to slip but not enough to make me worry . . . Would have cracked for sure if it hadn't landed how it did.

I was up 6-2, 3-1 when a light rain started yesterday. I checked the radar up 3-2 and saw a huge line of storms almost over us. Knowing that it could rain anytime, we played 2 more games but I was so paranoid about my racket slipping out of my hand that I stopped going for my shots. We only got 2 more games in after that.

It was perfect at UCF. Played at 6 and there were no clouds at all. Learned my lesson though. Always bring a towel / wristbands. Makes a huge difference for me.

Yeah, the same happened to UA! Man, yesterday was like playing in the cloud :)
Btw, that used to happen to me quite often but I solved that issue with bigger grip size AND my grip is more relaxed since I don't overcompensate with "the grip of death" :)

Thats what I did except mine did crack :( . Sucks, and I'm out 100 to get a new stick from Dunlop. I told them I may wait and see about the new 200s coming out soon and just go with 2 racquets for now.

Yesterday I just left my towel by the fence and used it on my right arm about every 2 points. My grip still was soaked into the leather underneath. If I was in charge of laundry, I'd buy 10 sweatbands and 10 towels to use each match!

I've lived with 2 rackets all year. Seems like nylon based strings last me almost twice as long in the summer. Once it gets cold again, I guess they get more brittle and I get more nervous about only having 1 backup stick.

Yeah 3 is super nice when you string your own as you know. I am a ridiculous procrastinator when it comes to stringing sometimes. I think that will change when football season starts.

For me, it just depends what time Junior goes to bed. If he stays up later until 8 or 8:30 then I cannot start until closer to 8:30 or 9 PM. Since I usually go to bed around 10, it stresses me out trying to string fast and then hit the sack right afterwards.

Oh yeah, yesterday was definitely something special. My trusty Yonex OGs felt and looked like never before and I went trough 3 drifit shirts which is unprecedented :)

I think the humidity was actually 107% just before the rain started.

Just checked the NWS station info for yesterday and at 9:53 AM it was 87 degrees with a dewpoint of 79 degrees. Anytime the dewpoint gets close to 80 is BRUTAL.

[/QUOI should have just headed straight home. Leaving downtown in a downpour at rush hour takes a LONG time!TE]

I head straight out Old Winter Garden Road. Its not to bad. I usually pay for the tolls there but not coming home. I guess I'm cheap.

Me too. I take the 408 to Hiawassee. I-4 and the rain are not a good combo.

Played 1 set today. Blew 2 games in a row with 40-0 leads at the end of the set to lose it. My serve sucks in the wind.

lol nah he's better than me!

Is it raining there right now? I just drove past Waterford area and it was sunny/hot/humid out.

G, I was not implying that you were not better than him :) My question was about your and your friend's playing style. FYI, I truly appreciate your calm, intelligent and balanced game (and personality :)).

Quick rant but this has to be the most ridiculous thing ever. My teacher decided to round down my 89.47 in a very subjective course. Maybe im out of line because most teachers round close grades up ... especially in high tier classes.

How could you do that to a student. 89.47 in my hard class . . . nope .03% is just too much.

Man, I am so sorry to hear that :( That is a real enthusiasm killer. I remember when I was grading students at UCF I would ALWAYS try to find the way to go over grades' borderline. 0.03 is beyond bizarre...

Hey Bob,

Where can I get that special tape for the Babolat butt caps? Both of mine are starting to move ever so slightly.

I have to find another way to replenish electrolytes. Even a 50/50 mix of gatorade is starting to make me nauseated. Any suggestions from TWCFL?

Mikeler, are you referring to 3M 444 double coated tape? It is not easy to find it because they sell it in large bulk packages (like 10 x 36 yards or something like that). If you need it for one racquet I can give you some. I don't have much left...

I used to do a lot of triathlons and I always ate the gummy "candies." A lot of people used the gels but those tasted pretty disgusting. Next time you visit that new tennis store you should check out the triathlon store at the outlet mall. I have only been there once but most triathlon stores have a good variety of energy supplements.

Also maybe you are consuming too much gatorade. People often overestimate the amount you need. Most of it is just sugar to replenish energy stores which is probably why you get nauseated. A sip every 20 min or so is really all you need.

Ok, Im going to go hit in an hour or so. This is what I have been doing..I drink water all day long before I play. I then bring a jug of water to the courts with some Norton Lite Salt thrown in it. Just enough to faintly taste when I drink but nothing that bothers me. It seems to help a lot in this humidity because I sweat so much.

I showed up thursday without doing this and got 2 calf cramps after 2 hours. The third full one came when I planted on a forehand and felt that full cramp feeling of the muscle clenching, and I immediately dropped my racquet and fell like I got shot. Yeah, that ended the day for me.

Bob, don't worry about it. I think I"ll go with the Super Glue approach. Coyfish, thanks for the tips. Power Player, that is always where I get the cramps, in the calves.
