Played with this and the c10 pro along side the blx 90 and chose the blx 90. the p10 and c10 just didn't work with my game. Nice stick but just didn't feel right, kinda sad since it's close to the rdx 500 mid specs, my favorite Yonex racquet. C10 wasn't stable enough, I'm primarily a serve and volleyer. Fun to play with both of them and definitely worth the demo experience.

Would be curious what folks' impressions are on how the PB10 performs in Fall condions (or indoors now that it's getting colder, at least here in the Northeast)... Any thoughts on stringing for colder weather? I was pretty happy with my set up so I just re-strung the same thing the same way...

Thoughts?

(Also wanted to bump this thread up)

I like my PB10 mid with a crisp string like old school Prince Original Synthetic Gut 17. I don't find that it plays any different in the fall than during any other season.

Anyone looking to leave this club? I'd like to become a probationary member if anyone wants to transfer their membership standing... and sell their racquet to me.

Just decrease your tension around 3 lbs. If you stay outside, and play at the Jungle, LES, Riverside Dr, or on the red clay, then maybe 5 lbs to make-up for the wind, especially on the West Side.

Good call on dropping tension. Also kind of want to try different strings out in them. Maybe Focus Hex or this new Tecni X-Code.

Yeah, I'm up in Westchester now, but I've got happy memories of playing for several years on the red clay by the highway up on 96th and also further up the park on those hard courts near 122nd.

i just ordered some klip legend 17g and isospeed pro classic 17g in order to try the mojo rig hybrid in my volkl. i will report back how it goes. i also ordered technifibre x-1 biphase 17g to place as a full bed in another volkl, and some msv focus hex 17L to go in my 3rd stick which i will prob hybrid with my last string of gaucho gut - i do not want to contract TE so i am a little nervous about the msv focus.

i am looking for a crisper feel than the full bed of sheep micro 16g i am playing currently. sheep micro is very soft and muted sgut. i originally had been playing with a global gut / sheep micro hybrid but something is definitely going wrong with the tensions on all of my natty gut jobs. it is dropping fast. not sure what i am doing lately with it. i strung my last hybrid global gut / gaucho gut at 57# and now my mains are at 50#. ball is floating to the moon at that tension with gut.

anyway, i will report back about the playability of the mojo rig in this stick.

If your looking for crispness, try NRG2. If your looking for crisp/snappy, try Klip Venom. Both will protect your arm.

I got a very bad case of tennis elbow with MSV Focus Hex, even though it's supposed to be relatively elbow-friendly. Could just be me, though.

I'd recommend Prince Original Synthetic Gut 17 in white (gold plays differently, IMO). That's what I use in mine.

After a quick honey moon with the Ozone Tour MP, I'm back in the club. I thought I needed a larger headsize to help with my 2HBH. What I really needed is what every one who thinks equipment will do the trick needs, pratice. I'm really enjoying the solid feel again. The Prince was no stick to be ashamed of but for me I <3 my PB10mid.

Right now my set up is with Rip Control 17g. Im going to try E-Matrix, Nanoblend, Axon Multi, and Ashaway Dynamite 18 Soft soon.

thanks TM. i was about to add nrg2 to my shopping cart but at the last minute i considered my budget. i sort of emptied the coffers after my recent purchase of a pb10, even though i got a great deal on it *wink*. now i wish i had purchased a set.

hominator what tension did you have it strung at? it seems like everybody likes the msv focus for this stick strung in the low 50's.

I think it was low 50s, but keep in mind that it wasn't with a PB10 mid. I think my tennis elbow was a result of a stiff frame and the string together. I was in the middle of a match and I could feel the pain coming and should have stopped, but continued on...

Perhaps the MSV Focus Hex would be better in a flexible frame like the PB10 mid.

I just picked up 2 new PB10 Mids. All I can say is "Where have you been all my life". I've always had pain in my arm while playing due to previous fractures in my wrist, elbow and shoulder. But, this is the first time I didn't feel any discomfort during my match. The racquet has no weaknesses. It's perfect in every respect - serve, volley and ground strokes... Goodbye to my AG100's.

Where did you get them? They almost can't be found?

the more i play with this beast the more i fall in love with it. the serve is finally dialed in and all i can say is WOW! both the flat bomb and the spin serves are getting the job done.

the miracle for me though is not the serve. for the first time in my tennis life i am playing with 62# string tension. please understand that anything above 60# would shred my elbow. i have never been able to play with high tensions even with a multifilament string. i strung up some sheep micro at 62# and my goodness is this racquet singing! of course though i play with a lot of swingweight but even with heavily leaded head prestige & radicals, i could never play above 58# without feeling pain coming on in the elbow. i am even betting that i can string up syngut to 65# without experiencing pain.

the reason i would want to string this high is because it allows me to hit out on the ball. i am able to take full cuts without inhibitions. i am so glad i chose the pb10!

What kind of stringer are you using? I play with tight strings, but I string my sticks with Gripper, as you know, at 53M/49.5C, and they feel tight, just as they did when I used the DNX 10. It's the nano carbon that does this, as I used to use the T10 VE, strung at 62M/60C with NRG2, and that was also 18 mains, not 16.

OK....know I understand. It is an older crank machine, which definitely strings 5-7 lbs loser when properly calibrated from that of a constant pull.
not certain about that. after stringing, i test the tension against my handy dandy trusty dusty stringmeter. my machine is pretty dead on +/- 2#

Sadly, this club appears impossible to join:(

I just checked my order status and TW has pushed out the back order date yet again, now to 18 Nov. This after swearing the 7 Nov date was firm and having had the delivery date pushed back 3 times before that (it was a delivery date of 17 Sept when I placed the order!).

And TW doesn't even bother to let you know it has been pushed back (I learned to check it on my own). It is obvious any date they post is a lie:evil:
And they can't tell me why it keeps getting pushed back.

I was very much looking forward to playing with this stick, but since no one can say when for real these things will be available, I'll have to go back to the demo routine. Yuck.

Does anyone know WTF is up with Volkl?

Have some hope! TW maybe trying to be better safe than sorry.

I'm sure they are passing along the best info they have; sadly Volkl isn't telling them much. I called Volkl's USA distributor to see what they could tell me; not much.

I asked for her manager's name (apparantly the Account Manager for Volkl's USA operations); I badgered him until he admitted they've been frustrated since July by the lack of information coming out of China; they don't know why and no one is talking to them, all they can do is pass along the bad news.

He did give me the name of a shop in Texas that he thought had a few left; turns out they do, but not in my grip size, but apparently the pallets on the PBs are interchangeable, so I can get that sized up. Much more costly than online retailers though:cry:

Makes you wonder about Volkl as a company though (scares me, as I also use their skis! Very good ones!) if no one in the company can pinpoint the source of the prolonged delays.

One thing he did say is that they are moving their warehousing to NJ. That's not the cause of the current problem, but could further delay things....

But I may be in the club in 2 weeks!

Wow, that's quite a stash considering. Wish I'd known that earlier, I'd have gone that route long ago! The Philly area Volkl rep has been looking on my behalf for a while and couldn't track any down. I wouldn't be doing the pallet change thing either (unless they are out of 5/8 grips too!).

Oh well, at least I've got one lined up....

Actually, they had mostly 4 5/8 grips, and the sticks had dust on them!

Off thread but...

Hi guys,
new user here.Had the PB10 for a few months down here in Oz but have had the issue of being unable to time the ball consistently.Every time I try to give the ball a rip I find I am way too early and tend to mis hit.Am I the only one on these boards or is this a common issue.Currently using Yonex rds 001 mid (90) and not having any such issues.Any ideas?

The stick swings faster than you would think for its heft. Volkl designed the stick specifically to be able to add weight, as its predecessor, the DNX 10, was a little too much for most. Try a little weight at 2/10 and see how that works. If you don't like it, try 3/6/12.

Good luck!

exactly! it swings very light and fast compared to most frames around that weight. Either you have to adjust to it or add some weight.

yeah, this stick is very polarized stock. so it is light in relation to its hefty swingweight of 337. if you do not want to increase the swingweight and you do not want to depolarize the stick, you will have to grow into this racquet.

Thanks guys. Will try 6 grams at 12 to begin with and see how it goes. Also, the stated weight is supposed to be 330 gms unstrung.Mine weighs in at 322 naked. Again,is this common or just unfortunate and an aberration.

IMO, this racket likes stiffer strings...

Any feedback from somebody having used a leather grip on this stick ?

It plays well with all poly strung very loosely, or with a hybrid, again strung loosely, or a multi or gut, strung with the crosses 2-4 lbs looser than the mains.

I play with leather: what is your question?

I'll second the stiffer strings hypothesis. I use a Head leather replacement grip with the PB 10 Mid, and Weisscannon Silverstring at 60 pounds. For the first month until tension loss sets in, it's ridiculous. I suggest a leather grip, high tension multi and no dampener for as much feel as possible. I had the same setup with the Kblade Tour, which slaughtered my arm, but with the low flex on the PB I get everything I got with the Tour, and like 600% more. Volleys are just ridiculous, as are slices, and no arm problems. Tons of spin as well for an 18 by 20.
However, the high tension is pretty much a prereq (at least for me) with this thing, else it turns into an uncontrollable rocket launcher.

I 'd love to go with the Volkl leather grip, but it seems it is really heavy.
I do have a Head Tour (leather replacement grip), should I put this on rather than the Volkl, what do you think ?

Dunno - the Head grip was what my local pro shop had :D I do think it has a tendency to get slippery when you get sweaty, even with wristbands. I'd suggest Wilson's leather grip, that said, however, I have no experience with Völkl's leathers.

Wow, really nice piece of advice !

You know what, I 've already ordered volkl leather grips, I trust the quality, who cares about the added weight compared to other leather grips

Matchball I just a bought a Volkl Leather grip last week, threw it on my Tour 10 Mid and its really great. Best leather I've used out of TW, Pro Supex, and Wilson. You won't regret it :)
