Thank God they discontinued it! Worst string of any type I've ever used. And considering its outrageously high unjustified price, I would rank its price vs. performance at the bottom of all the strings on the market. I guess Wilson finally wised up and stopped making that piece of junk. :???:
In fact, I would say Gosen OG Sheep Micro at 1/20th of the price blows away K-Gut on performance, comfort, and feel.
Just my personal opinion, of course.
No exaggeration. K-Gut costs $21.50 a set. You should be able to find OG Micro for a bit over $1 a set (especially in reels). It's out there.Exaggeration on two levels. I really like kgut and haven't heard bad things about it from anyone. Sure it's a little pricey, but nowhere near 20x the price of og sheep micro.
I think kgut plays better than wilson's other multis, namely hollow core and nxt, although i actually like hollow core as well.

As usual you are way off, i have been buying kgut
for 16.95 for quite a while. Originally it was priced
at $22, but then reduced to 16.95.
As far as gosen og sheep micro goes it is not even
close. It is a so so cheap string with no bite or power.

And if you haven't heard bad things about K-Gut (and K-Gut Pro), you haven't been reading this board very much.
BTW, I find Hollow Core to be significantly softer and more comfortable than K-Gut, and that they play very differently. I find it surprising that anyone can like one but not dislike the other.
You guys know that K-Gut and NXT are Tecnifibre strings?! They are produced by TF. And as far as I know the difference between K-Gut and NXT is only a bit color and the diameter.
BTW: Some TF people told me that NXT is nearly the same string as TR-3.
Kgut is nothing like NXT. Completely different feel.
I also loved it. There were rave blind reviews by USRSA professional types to back up it's performance as well.
I asked on here recently about a similar string and was referred to Babolat Xcel. Looks similar but I haven't tried it.
I agree with Ambivalent. I used K-gut pro 17 and it played very crisp, held tension and consequent playability for longer than any multi I have used....X1, NRG, Gamma Pro and NXT Tour. I now use mostly X1 and it is a great multi but doesn't last nearly as long. Not from braking but from tension loss and thus becomming too powerful. In fairness, I have not tried Xcel. I would rate them;
K-gut Pro
X1
NRG
NXT Tour
I'm currently hitting with some Rip Control and it does have some interesting traights. Less power, more spin and time will tell on the tension side. My stringer only has 16 and I have always played with either 17 or 18 so there is obviously some differences associated with guage. If I knew for a fact that TF made K-gut I would try that string but I somehow doubt it. It plays nothing like either X1 or NRG. Yes soft, crisper than X1 and stayed playable until it broke. X1 and NRG both have to be cut out before breaking as I lose all control with both. It's been a few years since I used NXT Tour but as my memory serves me, it was the softest of the bunch and lost tension quicker than the others.
Just my $.02 worth!
Wilson said they were going to come out with a blxgut (basalt fibres you know) ;-)

did the kgut have karophite particles in it? if so the blx gut will have basalt fibres!Wilson said they were going to come out with a blxgut (basalt fibres you know) ;-)
