have you ever thought about yoga to improve your flexable-ness?
Ah..."flexibility" is the word I think you're searching for. :p

But forget yoga. Take a good ole-fashioned ballet class.

Seriously, Jolls...good on you for attempting such a feat. Just watch the weigh loss regime. 2-3 lbs per week. Tops. Anything more is just water weight, or worse, a decrease you can't sustain. Didn't gain it overnight; ain't gonna lose it overnight. Ditch the junk food and take-out. Cook your own. It's usually cheaper and much, much better for you.

@J011yroger - about your plans: so having a decent record against 4.5 rated players is still not part of your goals? ;)

@JoelDali - not sure what you are trying to say via this image, but I like the picture anyway.....

I think you need a financial goal. As in buying a stringing machine and doing it yourself. You do realize how much money you could be saving?

Jolly doing ballet? I had mentioned that I did ballet in college and he looked at me like I grew wings, forked tail, and pair of horns.

Yes, I was doing ballet, with a snickers bar in one hand and Pepsi in the other.

J-Man,

I need more from this thread! ;)

When I subscribed I was (eagerly) anticipating a chronicle detailing the thrills, the spills, and dare I say the raw human agony that IS training for serious, competitive tennis.

Come on man! What's working?? What's hurting??

I think ABC once said it best: "The thrill of victory, and the agony of defeat!!" ;)

I was at NTC today and bumped into one of J011y's media attorneys who said to look out for a big announcement on February 1st.

He wouldn't divulge what it was but usually when he gives me these warnings the talk tennis boards light up with sudden spikes in J011y related traffic causing headaches for ISPs in the Cayman islands.

Geoff will soon be in NYC, so........

Hey J-Man,

Don't forget Geoff will be traveling to NYC for the WKC in a couple of weeks. I am sure you will want to include him (and his remarkable teleporting abilities) into your training that week! :)

Best,

I am refusing to accept that Joel Dali has been banned. I hope that it is temporary because my forum experience has now been blackened and my soul crushed.

What?!?!?! JoelDali banned?!?!?!

I cannot believe this. Who did he offend? Was his irreverance too much. Surely this must be a case of unappreciated genius.

:confused:I...I...I'm lost and confused. No warning... no goodbye...I say we host an Irish funeral-- Who'se got the wild turkey?

Go Stoneybrook!!!

BTW I googled "what is a seawolf?" and I was a bit surprised by the answer, according to wikipedia:

How about this thing on the front of our team shirts lol?

Haha-- The most common reference is a submarine-- Stony Brook gets stuck with a mythical creature...

LoL

I used to work with a bunch of people that drank Jameson all day.

One night at that South Street seaport bar this little Indian chick thought she'd try to party with the big boys and ended up hurling her guts out and scaring the crap out of us. We thought she was dead.

Then we put her in a cab with some dude named Cecil and we never saw her again.

Jameson is henous.

Go ahead and drink it and put on the tennis channel.

My girlfriend is on TV.

Thank god you're back!! But now what do I do with this 1.5L bottle of Jameson I just bought to self medicate the mourning of your banning? :?

Get yourself some tins of Guiness and a bottle of Baileys and go on an Irish Car Bomb binge. :)

Wow...couple of hectic weeks.

Ok, clocked in at 176lbs this morning, so the weight thing is moving in the right direction. And I did manage to burn off the prolific amount of wings and beers taken in at the Jet/Patriot game with Den and AliD.

Bumped my playing up from 2X-3X per week. Back is a little stiff after hits in the beginning, especially going out into the biting cold afterwards, but no real hurt.

I played two practice singles matches, and one dubs match, in addition to regular practice.

Got a hitting session in with VSBabolat at Randalls Island, which went ok, I guess, I felt a little off, and my shot seemed like it didn't have enough spin on it. VSB is a tremendous ball striker, and a good barometer for how I am hitting.

Anyhow, tonight is my first tournament of 2011, I don't feel quite ready for it, since I am not serving well yet, and everything else is a little hot an cold, but we will see how it goes and adjust from there.

Body has been feeling awesome lately, but due to the snowstorms and real life stuff I haven't been able to hit much this week, so I don't know if it is because I am healing, or because I haven't been playing.

Earlier in the month my shoulder and upper body would be achey after playing, so I knew I was out of shape.

Anyway, match time is 8:30pm tonite, and it looks like I am playing a pretty good 16/17 year old kid.

Will report back later tonite or tomorrow.

Excellent!

Will do. I was hitting pretty well last time we hit in Central Park, so hopefully I can give a repeat performance!

And it is always fun to show up in matching Fed-**** outfits.

Good luck, J-man. I'm in the Tiger Tennis tournament this weekend out at the dust bubble in the swamp. Draw seems weaker than usual for an open tournament, but that means nothing to me - I'm part of the reason for that...

Just walked to the post office in 10 inch icy mud puddles.

Its a tough life.

But the neverending supply of euro tourist hotties fluttering around incessantly outside my work window clamouring for my autograph more than makes up for the madness.

It does indeed seem weaker than usual, but the tiger ones are strange that way, sometimes the turnout is awesome, and sometimes really lame.

I don't see any of the usual suspects in the draw.

Hopefully draw line 14 comes through in the tourney. I really like that kid, we have similar personalities.

If you guys are posting about a tournament and mentioning draw lines, any chance you could post a link for those who might curious?

Stroynick? I'm really surprised he isn't seeded. He beat the #1 seed in the last Tiger tourny and double bageled the #2 seed last summer. My money is on him to win, although Motta is a wild card in this. There is a kid from Staten Island that goes to Bolletieri by that name. If that's him, he'll win easily, but I think this is his dad in this tournament.

Lost 3&3, not hurt, can't really serve yet.

All things considered, I am pretty happy with how things went.

Will analyze and summarize in the morning, and post.
