Murray's post-match grey T-shirt: The look of a Loser

The Sergio Tacchini executives must be pleased to see Nole accept the trophy on the podium, looking smart and professional in his Tacchini shirt for which he's paid millions to wear. By contrast, if I was the adidas exec negotiating Murray's clothing deals, I'd be livid seeing Murray stand up there dressed in that goddamn grey-marle training T-shirt. I mean, you could not see more contrasting styles up there on the podium - neat sportswear befitting a champion versus a loser's gym T-shirt.

It just looked so slovenly and unprofessional. The game's biggest stage of the moment and Murray looked like he was stepping out for a loaf of bread and a pint of milk. My point here is that he should've had the sense to realise there is a time and a place to look that casual. The presentation ceremony is not that time or place. There is absolutely no way you would've seen Lendl, Becker et.al look that ordinary on stage. The last time I felt like this was USO 1988 - Wilander wearing his sleeveless vest pullover like a muscletop (ironically it was a Tacchini back then too).

<sigh> Yeah go ahead and flame me all you want

Ha fellow Aussie here mate.

I don't think Murray was thinking fashion after that match and more thinking about holding it together during the speech and getting out of the building.

Clutching at straws really, the shirt he was wearing had a huge Adidas logo anyway, which is in fact good for viewers to see.

Nobody cares what you think of their attire. Thankfully there are people that aren't so materialistic as you.

Look, I know, I know ... and I empathise with Murray - the convulsion of emotions going through his mind must've been gut-wrenching I'm sure.
It just rankled with this old-skool viewer that he decided to pull out the most casual piece of attire in his bag. Couldn't he for instance, have slipped on the matching green tracktop - heck, even the cool green and black argyle designs we all raved about here. The eyeballs watching the ceremony would've been inspired to log into TW to get their hands on that nifty number.

Ever notice that people write things like "go ahead and flame me all you want" because they realize they're writing something foolish and annoying and therefore expect some sort of assault? "occasion-conscious"? Is there anything more appropriate to cool-down from athletic activity than a classic gray teeshirt? Djokovic cooling down in a shirt that makes him look like a futuristic crossing-guard strikes me as the more bizarre attire.

How dare he put on a fresh, soft shirt with the huge sponsors logo on after a tough match! I bet more people knew he was in adidas than Joker in Tacchini!

Dude I nominate the title of your thread as title of the year, awesome

He didn't want to wear his custom made track jacket with a "0" embroidered on the back

Mods should sticky a thread full of these truly witty and original pieces by Federer/Nadal fans. Bragging about numbers is as sad as Liverpool, Real Madrid and Rangers/Celtic going on about how many trophies they won years ago.

actually i have to reluctantly agree with OP that in our superficial world that he should have the "professional" sense to dress better

I agree that t-shirt was bad choice. He should do the same as Novak did wear same one but NEW. After all they get so many t-shirts

Djoker's looking good here the day after:

Those Tacchini New Line polos are a great fit on his lean body - nice tailoring. I wished ST made these a permanent line.

What's even more unforgivable is that his shoelaces were not perfectly tied and his nails were a tad dirty.

Maxxply, I'm with you on the old school but Muzza is not a clothes horse, show pony... whatever you want to call him...just a hard working scot!

Now if he could only get his mum to shut up and the boys in the box to relax!
The guy can play...just needs cahill or somebody cool headed coaching him...with all respect to everyone that has helped him so far...

just one more match!

it's not the clothes.....

"It just looked so slovenly and unprofessional."

So did Murray the entire match, so IMHO, it worked. :)

I agree with OP. Murray looked like he was ready to plant himself on the couch and make his way through a tub of ice cream.

Obviously the big logo is good, but why not a big logo with a less drab colour? Maybe an Australian-open blue?

I bet djokovic's sponsors are happy. Memorable footage of Novak's shoes? Check. Memorable footage of Novak sitting there like a boss with no shirt and then pulling on a crisp Sergio Tacchini shirt? Check.

I just know that my five-year-old son said he couldn't pull for Murray - even though he loves adidas almost as much as his dad does - because he has "bad hair." What can you say? According to our son, Murray also has the hair of a loser. :)

your son is right, i was looking at Anda's hair and thinking he needs some Amla (gooseberry) hair oil and his hair can be done up like Sunny Deol (hi ksbh!), then he will most certainly win a slam.

Hes already tried that approach with Miles snoozefest McClagan.

He needs a boot to the keister kind of coach that encourages him to be aggressive against top 10 players.

Hell his mom or his girlfriend could do it.

Be cool he's keeping it real and wearing what he wants. I'm not hating on Murray choice of attire, mainly because it looks like the same shirt I have

miles was goofy but good for his game...and got him going again after BG over did it, he doesn't need a pusher(lol), more a coach who knows who he is...played the tour...and is cool under pressure...no, BG won't get another invite or the money...he had his chance.
Pity it didn't work out with Annacone...
Andy does not need to get more aggressive, he is tight enough and angry enough already , such a tense player, every error is agony...he needs to chill and flow and play his game...unfortunately a difficult job to find a coach to get him to play like that.
Wilander would be good but he has said too much...
Now, where is that adidas jacket with 00 on the back?:)

It's obvious Murray just doesn't care at all what he looks like or he would sort out his hair for a start.
