Blake's Setup?

Hey, I was wondering if anyone knew anything about JB's racquet setup, any info but particularly what current frames would emulate it if customized and how to customize it, etc.

If this isn't clear enough let me know; but thanks no matter what

Blake uses a blacked out 18x20 frame strung with full alu power at 68 lbs. His frames weigh about 370-380 grams strung and have a boat load of lead at the 3 and 9 o'clock position as well as in the handle.

Wow, beastly. Any approximate idea of his balance point and SW, and perhaps a suggestion for any current frame that would be a good platform for customizing it?

Either way, thanks alot! Do you own those frames per chance?

Blake is not still using the custom made frames he had HEAD manufacture? He had travelled all the way to Kennelbach to test and have them manufacture exactlly what he wanted.

Cup, when we strung for him at the Delray, I didn't think about getting his balance or swingweight. I wish I would have. Anyway, the frame, from my understudying is a modified Wilson 4.2.

VS, how you doing??

Yup, Blake was using his two remaining frames.

Alrighty, no biggy. Surprised that he's become such a creature of habit that he's using frames that , with that tension, are probably getting close to biting the bullet..

I love it. He should show up with no racquet bag and a bottled water as well.

Refreshing change from the golden Federer manbag.

Doing better thanks! Don't know about the layup but the Mold is the same as the Dunlop 300 Tour.

I can't believe he is not using the custom made HEAD frames. I think he has a mental illness.

The mental illness of 'well i used to play well with these frames, and since the new ones don't feel so nice, i will continue to use these ones.'

Too damn stubborn.. But I like the dude so much!

Do you think I'd be best off by using the 300T as a customizing platform to try and emulate what my guess his setup is like, or would you recommend something a little heavier; i'm considering modding the PSl's I have to give them a little extra pop, but am curious to try something like blake's setup (and no, not in competition, just to have some fun)

Still waiting on your Delray stringing experience thread...

I think the Dunlop 300 Tour is a good racquet and a great racquet to use as platform to customize with.

Using the old couple of racquets that Blake has left does not seem to improving his play.

good stuff..those are pretty amazing sticks.

Cup..the Dunlop 300T is awesome with a leather grip and lead at 3 and 9. It takes some energy to get constant power out of it, but it is easier with lead.

Well, I think I won't have an issue handling it; the PSL's i have are lower powered than I remember the 300T being, and lately i've been swingin the Jack Kramer Autograph around for the immaculate feel it gives.. and the serves are just great!

True that; when he tried out the BLX 6.1 Tour I started to think that he was gonna be open to trying new things, but despite his great play with it at the AO (taking delpo to 10-8 in the fifth, IIRC), he ditched it; he needs to break his reliance on those old dying frames; more power to him if he can find new replacements that play the same, but those things gotta be worn out by now..
