Hey Guys...
Alex and I did hit last nite, late around 9, as courts were full all over Berkeley.
He, at 6' tall, has a really nice top/slice first serve actually.
Of course, needing -1.25 glasses, and not bringing them, first time at night hitting since '93, I had trouble picking up the ball.
We recorded 3 serves each, or something like that. Temps were warm, like 60 and no wind at all.
He had this tiny camera on a 4'6" tripod, I hope it works.
Our serves recorded were after 10 each warmups.

I have faith that a video will be produced showing an older, shorter, and Asian version of Rafa with a kiteboard in the background.

Then the posts will be all about if that was really him or not.

For those that think this will be the end of an era ... I say it is only the beginning!

No need to report me missing. :)

So I cruised out to Berkeley last night and met up with the legend...wait for it...d a r y GOAT LeeD.

He says he's in his sixties but looks more like he's in his fifties, it's an asian thing. :) Was a really cool guy to talk to and easy going and he really does drive a Blue 1979 van that seems to be missing a catalytic converter. haha The van looks cool in a serial killer kinda way.haha Just joking LeeD. If you met him on the street, you would think that he was a beach bum with his long hair and tanned look. He did have a small windsurfing sticker on his van so I think he does windsurf.

Met him at Eighth and Virgina tennis courts and the two courts were full. We decided to head down to San Pablo courts and lo and behold, those courts were full.

We sat at the benches and watched some good players practice, from what I was told, kiteboard and freedom from the boards. Both looked like minimum 4.5 or above players. Kiteboard has a pretty good ohbh. Freedom is unique because he has 2 forehands. Yes folks, he switches hands on each side and hits a forehand. They are good strokes also on each side.

Anyways, I digress. So we sat around for about 10 mins and decide to move over to another bench in hopes of scaring away people that were on the court. It didn't work, so we decided to head down to another smaller park with tennis courts and lights.

So we arrived at the 3rd park and what do you know...it was full. We decided to wait it out since these guys didn't look like they were going 3 full sets. After about 20 mins, we got a court.

So we got a court around maybe 7:30, just as the sun was going down and the lights were kicked on. We were on the middle court with no lights directly above us except for the lights to the corners. It wasn't bad lighting but it wasn't the best lighting compared to the private clubs I play at sometimes. No biggie.

Warmed up with groundstrokes, vollies and then serving. Had a good 30 minute warm up and then I asked LeeD if he wanted to record his serves. I could tell he was a little hesitant since it is kinda wierd to just start recording ourselves while everyone is just playing and having fun. So we just said, forget about, let's just write about our experience.

Just kidding, so I setup the tripod with my little flip camera and this is what we captured.

Sorry I'm processing the video right now, deleting the 2 mintues where I run to get my racket and check my hair.haha Plus I'm at work also trying to look like I'm working while working on the video.

"I'm always in a little trouble"......
Well, was up till past 4, g/f reading me the riot act...:twisted:
As usual, I'm in trouble and will always stay in trouble.
Was cool to meet up with you. Alex beat me 0-3 in half court. I kept running back to center on every ball..:):)

don't do it PP.... I have recently realized why I suck on harTrue - it's the California Slide :)

apparently it doesn't work well in Florida.

i've never once criticized anyone over their tennis video unless they post it specifically asking for advice. Post it and i'll be sure to keep it to myself and not show anybody else :p

Plus i've seen your youtube link in your sig but to be honest i can't make out anything from it heh

I don't have vid yet, but I will. I have been really wanting to do this for my own benefit.

I will wear a GHOAt and play a mid.

Ajat, you have made tennis history by playing with Leed. Well done.

to be honest the best thing about filming myself was actually getting to see myself play. Never really intended on posting it on a forum, was just for myself. Regardless if it was a good day or not or if i was playing as good as i could play etc. It's something i'll have to look back on. I've always been curious how i look playing and i wish i had video of myself back when i actually played competitively. So IMO record yourself as soon as you can and don't wait 15 years like i did and wish you had one of yourself at a younger age.

you are probably right, not much can be made out of it.... it's more of a 'putting face to a name' thing.

need to have partner at same level and also willing to be filmed, to get something as good as yours.

more commenting on the side view. Better from the back and a bit high so you can see the full court and how the ball bounces etc. Side view like that doesn't really show much. You can have awesome strokes and bet hitting every shot out, or ugly stroke and be hitting crazy spin on the lines.

Does he wear it in a pony tail, or in a Chinese Fabio kinda way? Do tell.

He did the Chinese Fabio thing.haha It was free as the wind, but he had a Cal hat on though. He probably does the pony tail thing too.
I would expect no less from our main man. Btw, did you hear he's in trouble with his woman? Rumor has it he's been sentenced to 3 years laying sod. This on top of his regular job from 9:30 to 10:15 on Monday and Friday mornings. We'll never again get to see the king in action. Hope this video is good.

Yeah, we were out to 9:30 still playing. She didn't sound happy by the way she honked the horn on her car.haha

We just did a quick clip of serving and played the rest of the time. :)

Without the facial hair, but longer top of the head hair, that guy could be me, easily. And I have glasses like that sorta, the g/f gave me, -1.25 prescription, but I forgot them and left them along with cell in my van.
YODA with long hair!
Oh, watched Kiteboard hit around with a strong 4.5-5.0 guy, waiting 2 hours for a court.
TAN? No tan, see me in Oct.

Alright, the video is processing on the vimeo site. It's gonna take 30 mins to process before I can post up the link.

I tried to edit the video into two clips but the sound didn't come through at all. Also vimeo has a 1 upload limit per week so I just uploaded the raw file.

Just forward/rewind to what you want to see.

I'm leaving work early today so I can go home and watch this epic video on a 50" hdtv. I'm thinking maybe I should call my Central Florida tennis buddies so we can all witness this historical moment together.

dude i'm there. thinking maybe need to make tennis vids. could be fun to critique and maybe see areas to improve. btw - hit with a young player that hit 2 tweeners (between the legs). he got the 1st one which totally surprised me and went to the ad court. 2nd time went to the deuce court but i got that point.
