I had to start a thread about this string, I have been play testing strings for about 4 weeks now and tried all the big names like Alu power rough and rpm blast but I was just SO impressed with Tornado.
Super feel, great power, impressive spin and above all EXCELLENT tension stability. Was shocked how cheap a reel was at half the cost of alu rough.
I prefer the 1.17 thin gauge but that's me.
Has anyone else fallen in love with this relatively unknow but fantastic string?

Please check my sig below. I'm still trying different tensions but it has tremendous bite, great tension maintenance and good feel(for a poly). I'm also a fan of Hyperion.
I would like to try the thinner version but I just bought a new reel of Tornado so it won't be anytime soon.

i play with the 1.17 at 45lbs and love it, is it good down in the 30's where you play?

Sorry but ALu Rough is a way better, not even just a little better.
If you use a heavy topspin you know what I am talking about. In just 4, 5 hours in my case the Tornado is already round, then it loses ball bite, hence you lose control and it is almost the same price for a set of Alu power.
If you use 45lbs then the Alu Power can perform even better.

honestly alu rough is great but only for a few hours as well. all those nice little gooves on alu rough also wear off in about 3 hours...saying that i have been playing with Tornado for about 2 weeks now and although i loved it at first i have fallen out of love with it and am going back to RPM blast which is my favorite string.

So, after starting two identical threads, raving about the "EXCELLENT tension stability"... etc.

Back to RPM? April fool's? or am I missing something here??

The two threads aren't the same but anyways.....I was impressed by tornado at the beginning for sure but after two weeks of playing everyday with it I realised that it's a very average cheap string and yes I have gone back to rpm blast, a good string!

Cool. Maybe you just had an off day? How many hours do you get from RPM? Worth the cost? Have you tried BHBR? Seems to be all the textured rage lately...

It's just that textured strings are a fad/gimmick. Stick with companies who know how to make strings and have made them for years. Do any pros use textured/shaped and twisted strings?
No wasn't a bad day had it strung into three rackets and trained 4 hours a day for 10 days with it. Loved it at first and fell out of love fast.
I PERSONALLY love rpm blast and didn't mind the price as I get what I want from it. Fair enough maybe you will like another string but I love rpm blast and have always used babolat strings.

The problem with some textured \ twisted polys is that some of the strings edges become dull after different amounts of time. I play with Uniques Big Hitter Blue Rough and the texture lasts long enough to where I cut them out due to a tension loss of 7 pounds which is about 10 hours of match play.I strung some SP Tornado for a friend and he said the edges were dull after 30 minutes.

I think textured/twisted strings are a gimmick.

Tourna Big hitter Blue Rough.

#1 spin rated by Racquet Sports Industry's USRSA playtests.

Personally, I agree that textured strings are a fad, but isn't RPM textured?

I still say 99% of spin is technique. Never heard of that string. Rpm is a 6 sides string but not one of these new funky twisted textured strings.
I have play tested over 50 strings and personally I think rpm blast is the best string available. For me and how I play that is. We are all different. :)

Again, agree on the spin/technique thing, and I'm not advocating BHBR, just wondered if you had tried it. If you haven't heard of it, I guess you don't really browse this forum because there are so many threads on this page about it. Again, no worries, I don't use it either, and yes, we're all different with different tastes.

But, if spin is 99% technique, then why would you say Tornado had "impressive spin"

Anyway, it's all good... just confused as to some statements. No worries mate :D

For your information: blast is little shaped and used by the likes of Nadal and Stan and many more. Hyper g is also shaped and used by pros.
