slamless year for Nadal?

This could be a slamless year for Nadal if he is injured or exhausted by the FO/Wimbledon time. And he has no AO to comfort himself with unlike 2009. Bottom line, this year could be worse for Nadal than 2009... Ouch.

FO is his most propable but he can be beat that is of the opponent is up for that greuling task.

WImbledon he can lose early which could have happened in 10,07, and 06. He has to play at his best and sometimes maybe coming of clay it would be much harder for him.

US open....for sure he loses....unless he zones in like AO 09 and US 10!

I think he has a chance at the FO IF Djoker is off his game.

And I do too! (said the Swiss cow)

I doubt it, even Djokovic's off game is troubling Rafa.
He was serving only 40% first serves and still managed to stay unbroken in the third. Djokovic was not serving like a goat but his ground game sure did make up for it. He was also goating at the net giving Nadal zero chance to prevail.

a narrow loss in miami simply means that Nadal is still in a great position to dominate on clay.

Djoko's worst GS result should be at Wimbledon, where his non-existent slice, non-scary serve, so-so volleys, full Western forehand grip and preference of true bounces are significant liabilities. On clay he should do some damage (continuing his current form), but he is nowhere near Nadal's clay talent.

Barring extended injury, there is no way Nadal finishes 2011 without a Slam. He is the heavy favourite at the French irrespective of Djokovic's current form. If Nadal can go toe to toe with Djokovic on hard court, he is definitely at an advantage on clay. He certainly won't be exhausted through Wimbledon. In the past, his fatigue usually did not affect him until the fall season. I'd say it's more likely Djokovic fails to win another slam in 2011 than Nadal going the year without one (unless he is injured), and I say this as a long time Djokovic fan.

Exactly. Voice of reason.

Djokovic will most likely only win one more slam this year either way s if Nadal wins 0 and Djokovic wins 2 who would win the other two?

Considering how everyone else is playing Nadal is almost certain to win at least one

I highly doubt that this will be a slamless year for Nadal. I can't see it. Rafa is the best clay court player. You think he is going to automatically play lousy on clay all of a sudden? I doubt it. People are not being reasonable.

Fed is done winning majors.

Nadal 12
Nole 6
Del Potro 4

If Djoker is the GOAT, then that certainly proves this is a weak era.

Uh, do people know what being the GOAT means? If Djoker is the GOAT (I'm not saying he is) that just makes this era stronger, because GOAT is "Greatest of All Time".

You need another animal acronym to use, since GOAT isn't the right one. Maybe BIRD (Best in Respective Decade), or...???

Rafa will win his 6th French Open this year. The question is, will anyone be able to take a set off him? I'd say 1 or 2 at the most.

Nadal played better through this stretch than he did in 2010 when he finished with three slams. From the WTF through Miami, he's gained about 1500 points. He's made the F of practically every tournament on his weakest surface. He's playing well. And now it's clay and grass time.

based on what i saw in miami(worst surface = hard), he won't lose a single set on dirt, provided fit every single match.

It would be quite a change from 3 in a row to Nada for Nadal. And only months ago seems like the whole forum was sure he would win the CYGS 2011.

Wake up !! This is the year of Nole. Nole is sweeping all four majors this year. He's currently playing at 50% and may coast through victories for the next few years without breaking a sweat. Rafa and Roger will be merely forgotten footnotes in the history of tennis.

Normally I agree with you, Senti, but news just in: Muurya will take Wimpledon this year. The rest of the trophies to Ajde Nole!

I agree with you Senti. I don't understand why are the players even playing for slams and masters. The organizers should just give the prize money and the trophy to Djokovic and the rest of the field should just play for being the runners up.

Nah, Nadal is still a huge favorite at RG and a bit favorite at Wimbledon (especially now with Fed's form). I'd be surprised if somebody threatens him at RG. Wimbledon is where Nadal is vulnerable, he never dominated that surface like many think. Last year he was close to defeat and this year anything's possible. I'm hoping for an epic Roger comeback but can't see it happening.

Brilliant play on words. With the red grass, it has certainly become a battle of the wimps. Along with Roland Gayros.

I will be rooting for Murray, but have to see some good form before making such an optimistic statement. Vamos Andy!

Thank you for noticing, dear Senti. I'm glad the allusion did not escape you. And by the how, any truth in the rumour that Raphla will be sporting these shorts in Gayros?

Although i am a great fan of Raphla, I don't follow his modeling and fashion, and off the court activities. I believe we do have some experts on these topics such as babbette and vero whom you might locate in the Nadal News thread. You will be treated to some awesome mouth-watering pics of Raphla, on the house.

If Djoko wins a lot pre-RG, he may burn out before the slam. it's not like that hasn't happened before although I would suspect RG will be a huge priority for him this year. He's also more liable than Nadal to losing to someone else at RG. Depending on what happens in the next masters, Nadal will still be the heavy favorite at RG. Only if Rafa didn't win a single clay master before RG, would I possibly revise my judgement. I agree that W will be tough for Rafa (confidence-wise) if he doesn't do well at RG.

Nope. YOU hope he burns out. Ain't happening. He's got his eyes at the FO.

Djokovic can have his eyes on the FO all he wants, does not mean he will actually win it. Nadal is still the favorite unless he loses all of the tune-ups pre FO and Djokovic wins them all.
