EXO3, O3 and Ozone Tour Users... What String do you Use?

All... just got my EXO3s a few weeks back and right now I'm loving Big Hitter Blue at 55#. Since all of the "Tours" have similar playability... what's your string and tension??

EXO3 Black with Volkl Cyclone 17G/Gosen OGMS 17 @59/61. Have also tried with Tour Bite 17g/Gosen 17 OGMS @ same tension. Both play nice, still unsure which setup I like best.

Sorry for any confusion but I was looking for feedback from those using the Tour version of EXO3, O3 and Ozone frames. I can see where my title could be misleading.

Any sort of poly in the low to mid 50s is good for the tour series of 03, EXO3 and Ozone (as well as Speedport) frames. I've used all kinds of poly strings, and I prefer those, since the frames were designed for people who swing fast and like to hit the crap out of the ball.

Ozone Tour and EXO3 Tour user here.

SPPP, Cyber Blue, Blue Gear, Black Code, Tornado, always at about 60 lbs.

I love how orange and blue strings look in those frames!

Wish I had a good answer, haven't found one I liked yet, still twiddling with a savage/gosen micro combo that is OK but nothing special

exo3 Rebel 95 feels totally different from all the other Prince rackets but I use Gosen Polylons 16g 59lbs.

Just broke strings and using Barbed Wire at 58lbs now

Strung one of my EXO3 Tour 16 x 18 frames with Volkl Cyclone 17g at 54# yesterday and was really pleased with the results.

A touch more control than the Big Hitter Blue and still nice pop and awesome spin.

For me, narrowed it down between those two strings.

I have a few that I like:

Kirshbaum Spiky Shark 1.30 at 55/55

Alien Poly at 55/55

And its been a while, but I remember the demo I used before purchase was strung with Beast at an unknown tension, and I liked it. But seriously, try Kirshbaum.

EDIT:

I tried Beast again and I love it. It is has more power than the Spiky Shark, yet it seems to have almost the same amount of control. It is quite lively, and I feel it will be better for defense than the Spkiy Shark was. Also, the Serve has a LOT more juice, it seems. I am switcing to that because Prince products are easier to obtain than Kirshbaum, and I have a sponsored friend who I hope can get me deals on reels.

Ozone Tour user here and I'm still looking as well. I've tried WC Silverstring 16 and Solinco Tour Bite 17. Between the two, I preferred Silverstring and may eventually return to it.

I also have a racquet coming with WC Turbotwist 17 on Monday so I'll be sure to let you know how that goes. I also have packs of Spiky Shark 17 and Big Hitter Blue Rough that I'll be using in the coming weeks.

Playability changes with the way a racquet is weighted and string pattern. I've got the EXO3 Tour 18x20 with 10 grams lead in the handle and 12 grams in hoop. Weight unstrung is 332. I'm using Luxilon M2 Pro right now at 50/50.

100" 18x20 Ozone Pro Tours leaded at 2&10. SPPP 1.18 mains at 56, Bab N.ny 16 at 59, Black Magic 1.24@54 N.vy 59, or Scorpion 1.22@ 55 w/N.vy. I used to use and like RIP Control for crosses, but it's not worth the hassle to string it.

when I had a o3 tour, i liked a power string, with grip, like gamma pro 18, but I am not a string breaker. I bet hurricane / vs combo would be great but $$

Right now I am really liking PHT/RIP Control @ 52/56. Also I have an extra frame to play with and might try a full bed of 18g co-poly @ 48.

EXO3 Tour 16x18 with VS Team in mains at 60 lbs and Hepta Twist 17 in the crosses at 57 lbs.

Ozone Tour 16x18 with VS Touch black in mains at 58 lbs and RPM Blast 17 in crosses at 55 lbs. (backup racquet)

Just tried Tourna Big Hitter Blue Rough at 57 lbs, and its great. Nice power, feels forgiving without feeling too mushy, above average control and good spin even for a poly (for me, not as much as ALU Spin which was used in a different racquet, but better than Tour Bite, Silverstring, MSV Focus Hex).

I have no clue about the tension maintenance properties of the string at this point in time but at $8 a pack, I can afford to restring a few more times through the year while should help compensate - so far it doesn't seem terrible in that regard though (better than ALU Spin at least, which isn't saying much).

I'm pretty sure I'll be sticking with this for a while.

Dawgs... I really love the feel of Big Hitter Blue/Big Hitter Blue Rough in the EXO3 Tour 16x18. I find tension maintenance is excellent. Durability, especially in the more open pattern and playing with heavy spin, is not as good.

But your point about the price (under $5 a job if you get a reel) makes it a good overall choice.

2 exo3 tour 18x20's with Klip legend 15 mains at 54#, and Signum Pro Tornado 1.17 crosses at 52#. Perfect combination of power, spin and control for me. Tried numerous setups before settling on this.

re string for exos

i will probably get scorched for saying this but i feel big banger original is awesome in the exo tour, o3 tour, and exo graphite. these racquets are flexy and plush feeling and the BBO is a good contrast. Lately Beast has been my choice because of tension maintenance.

Apple... do you need to use tubing in the top ports to prevent premature breakage?

Nope, no tubing. Ironically, the syn gut mult crosses frays and breaks before the nat gut mains. Are you finding sharp edges/corners in your top ports? I noticed that the EXO3 Tour hole/port inserts are more flexible than other Prince hole/port inserts. This may be due to Prince claiming that the EXO3 Tour hole/port inserts are some new thermo material.

I tried Prince Beast XP in my EXO3 Tour as well. It had a nice feel, but I noticed that it notched quickly against my crosses (Prince Syn Gut Multi 16). The poly material used in Beast appears to be softer than other poly strings.

I would agree that the EXO3 top ports look like they're easier on the string.. though I haven't had problems with poly or nylon breaking at the top with any O port frame.

Never have tried gut in the Prince racquets so I was curious. How many hours do you get with each gut hybrid string job?

For me, the syn gut multi breaks after about 16-20 hours (I'm a 4.0 level player). I have yet to break the nat gut before the syn gut multi, plus the nat gut tension holds extremely well versus using a syn gut or multi in the mains (resulting in less main string movement). I found that full nat gut has too much pop and not enough firmness, whereas a nat gut/syn gut multi provides less pop, some additional firmness, and is more cost effective. I will occassionally use a syn gut when I'm out of syn gut multi.

EXO3 Tour 16x18, hole grommets except top piece, strung with Weiss Cannon B5E @ 60lbs. Tension lost around 5-6 hours of used then broke at 8-10 hours.

Kirshbaum poly 16 at 60. And I tend to pull the dust out of the core? I add sticky spray glue (used in baskekt ball) to my strings. Feel and spin beat the hell out of the oppont.
Enjoy!

rebel 95 tour, use PSGD at 50, its a decent all round string, and great feel and comfort at 50, which is important to me, and I dont like going for extreme spin, power etc strings, not my preference.

Well for me I found the overall best setup for my game. BHBR 54/52. Though if I am going to a tournament I can do +/- 2lbs in two frames. This setup makes my strokes sing.

pheonix6579... Thanks! That's excellent news for me since I have a reel of BHBR! I also have a reel of gosen 17.

Three questions for you if you have a minute:
1. Any experience with BHBR mains / ??? crosses hybrid?
2. What tensions did you expirament with and what qualities do you like about 54/52?
3. What type of game/strokes do you play?

Yes sir. +1

EXO3 Tour 16x18. Mains - Recoil @ 46#, Crosses - Beast @ 43#. 4.5 heavy spin player.

Recoil is a very underrated string and feels great with the exo3 series. Great spin and string movement... but no string re-shifting.

EXO3 Tour 16x18, hole grommets except top piece, strung with Weiss Cannon B5E @ 60lbs. Tension lost around 5-6 hours of used then broke at 8-10 hours.

Port holes up top, string-hole inserts at 3&9, that's what I've decided feels best as well.

Any poly at low tensions will feel good in these soft frames. I loved LuxM2Pro(50lbs.) and currently BBO @ 48lbs.

I used to play with the speedport red and I put a full bed of Big banger in it at mid recommended tension and it was to stiff for me. I don't think I'll ever break these strings even over winter.
2 years ago I switched to EXO3 Graphite and have 2 of them. Prince 3d at 58 was too stiff.
Went back to a non poly Head fiber gel 16 gauge which had good control but I lost even more power on my serve. This racquet I can place the serve anywhere but I sacrifice some power with the serve for this.

I also liked the head RIP full bed 16 gauge at 58, More power than the fiber gel or other multi's and syn guts. Also equal or better control.

My favorite has been hybrid Prince 3d/recoil 56 Poly 3d mains and 58 recoil crosses but there was notching, though it did last 2 months.

Currently using Bab RPM 17 56 on the mains and head RIP 16 58 on the crosses. At first I hatted it, it felt like mush. But after about 3-4 days of use I guess the RPM balst started losing it's tension and it feels a lot better. No notching

The 3d/recoil still had more power and was more crisp with tons of spin. It seems the RPM blast is softer than the prince 3d.

I'm going to try the Bab RPM blast full bed next and if that is to stiff I'l try RPM with the recoil. One racquet will stay as prince 3D and Recoil however as a comparison until something else beats it.

I think having 2 of the same racquets is essential for comparisons. Could luck in your quest everyone.

I generally use Typhoon. But PolyFibre Hexablade is working really well at 55lbs. Solid but not stiff. Strings move a bit more than normal but it plays really well.

Saw a few of you guy hybrid the 16x18 Exo Tours.

I'd prefer to do that if possible, but I am a big fan of Big Hitter Blue..just dealing with some wrist tendinitis..so a little wary of full poly jobs..are they that easy on the arm in this stick?
I'd be coming from the APDGT stringing Black Magic at 55 and Blizzard syn gut at 58.

Was thinking BHB 16 with Gosen OG micro 16 crosses.

I strung my Ozone with thick poly (head competition 2 1.30) at 54 and loved it... for the first day. Power, spin, control. The next day they were all gone. It played like a regular syn gut minus the comfort. I guess this is what they call dead poly. NOt happy at all.

I'm considering doing a radical move: 1.30 syn gut at 53 lbs... have any of you tried syn at this low tension? Trying to save my arm, but I wonder if it will still be playable...

+1 on BBO @48. Such a nice setup with this frame. I'm currently testing 1 frame with a full bed of 4G @ 44 which is working out rather well.

Oh yeah I use 16 x 18 Exo tour with ports.

Ozone Tour led up the frame to 12, played some of my best tennis with Mamba guts / SPPPPure 17 at 52/47. It lasted over 30hrs and poped near the sweep spot...
Currently, Scorpion hybrid with whatever multifilament around. Me, solid 4.0, playing double most of time
