Will Fed ever win another slam? If so, which will it be? Let's make this a poll (omitting RG, as the chances of Fed winning another of those are almost inexistent.)

I'd say USO or Wimbly, but on two separate conditions and one universal one.

a) Nole's HC performance deteriorates come USO 2011
b) Rafa's GC performance deteriorates come Wimbly 2011
c) He plays weak players until finals, where he meets Murray

Don't omit RG as it's one Slam where he's still the second favorite until proven otherwise...
Not anymore IMO. Ferrer and Murray, and probably Djoker, are now better favorites than Federer. Federer's form in clay will never be the same. He will hold on for a while in faster surfaces, but clay is too unforgiving due to his age-induced decline.

I don't think he'll be able to win another GS. Not in the near future. It's not just the Djokos or Murrays or Rafa's that threaten him. A lot of players are not intimidated by him as much and will play with a lot more confidence. But hey! Anything can happen. That is the tennis, no?

Erm, Ferrer is the same age as Federer. He's also 0-4 against Federer on clay and has never reached FO semis. He's also much better at best-of-3 than he's at best-of-5.

And Murray? He plays a decent match against Nadal and all of a sudden he's a favorite? News flash: Murray always plays well against Nadal, even on clay; he's simply a bad match up for him. Also, let's see who he's lost to in RG: Monfils, Nico Almagro, Gonzo and Berdych. All of them decent but not exactly great players.

Djokovic? OK, there you may have a point; but for some reason he often seems to arrive at RG in bad form.

On the surface your reasoning is correct. But Federer has declined way too much at this point to be a contender in RG. Ferrer is in very good shape in clay as his latest results show. Murray is coming into his own, and I think he might surprise a lot of folks. Let's wait and see.

Except for last week's loss against Melzer, who else has the Federer lost to in the last 5 months?

(answer: only Nadal and Djokovic)

Let's wait and see.

I can say the same to you. Don't bury him yet.

I am not burying anybody. I just said that I don't think Federer can ever be competitive enough again in Roland Garros.

I happen to think he might win some other slam before Wimbledon 2047, although I am not too sure though. It will depend on Nadal/Djoker/some other players (DelPo? Cilic? Berdych?)

If Federer can retain his flashes of brilliance for more than just...flashes, he can win any slam out there still, bar RG (though if Nadal gets knocked out, Federer would have a chance even there).

He "could" still win any of the remaining but I think Wimbledon and USO are his best chances. I think his biggest problem at Wimbledon is if he is facing Nadal I dont fancy his chances.

But against anyone else I think he is the favourite there and we all know he loves it there he will put up a hell of a fight if he gets to the final!

At the USO I think he will be most dangerous his aggressive play is something to behold and if firing I dont think many could stop him!

He won't be winning any hardcourt/clay slam as long as the King stays active. On grass we have Muzza and Nadal who are both well capable of stopping Federer. Sorry no slams for Federer, only for the King. :(

This years Wimbledon. His be aggressive play will work better there, and hopefully he'll be fit and healthy this year.

I thought the powers that be (hisorians) did not know what mean what, and therefore hollywood just went with the easier to understand

Nah, he's correct. Thumbs up as in pointing at the heavens...then a guy with a gigantic hammer would come around to smash in the loser's skull. Makes me wish the system still existed for football today.

I think the US Open is Federer's best bet for a major now. Federer is always capable of winning majors, having won 16 in his career, but it is also possible that he has already won his last major.

People would have laughed after the 1984 US Open if you had said that John McEnroe had just won his last major. But it was McEnroe's last major, at least in singles competition.

even for djokovic fans such as yourself and yoda? How do you know there are more Nadal fans than djokovic fans for instance?

Of course, we're not stupid. Djokovic's future will become more concrete as he proves himself over this year. Nadal is already proven. Therefore biggest shock.

Really?

Who are you, a frustrated idiot that could not pass the highway patrol entrance exam?

I think Federer can win another one. Somehow, I think Wimbledon is his best chance, followed by the AO and then the US Open, with the FO being least probable. Good luck to him, it'll be great to watch.
