Good luck, j-man. I'm surprised you didn't play in the US Open Sectional qualifying.

I am against it on general principal.

I think it is an overpriced BS thing to bilk the membership out of money for nothing.

If the USTA wants me to play, then they can put their effort into running a decent tournament, with food, a T-Shirt and consolation draw with singles doubles and mixed.

If they want to do this crap, then they can make it reasonably priced.

Yesterday was great, first full day of practice of the season due to crap weather here for most of April.

Practiced for a bit with Mrs. Jolly and Dennis on clay in the morning, just hitting around casually.

Then went outdoors, hit half, then 3/4 court topspin warmup, then volley to volley drill, then hit baseline, all with Dennis.

Did some baseline hitting with another friend, then played some serving games of ping pong. (5 serves per person, play to 21.) Where I tried to serve a slower spinnier serve, and S&V every point. Then played a difficult volley/passing shot game. Then warmed down with a little more baseline hitting.

Played pretty well, the adjustment to outdoor messed with my depth perception mostly, even though it was windy, it didn't bother me too much, mostly the glare, and lack of backdrop.

Also need to remember to eat more. Low blood sugar kicked in and I got pretty light headed. Need to stop and throw a box of Cliff Bars and some goo in my bag for such instances.

Body feels pretty gooey this morning, but in a good way. Haven't hit that much in a while.

Last match of the 9.0 season is tonight, against a good team, should be fun.

Trying to even my teams record for the season, and give myself a winning record.

I feel like such a ****, I play with a different partner every time.

Clif bars have a lot of sugar - you should try the Hammer Gels. They work fast, low sugar and are easy to eat. They are amazing before tournaments if you are the nervous type who has trouble eating before matches. Its really easy to down one of those things right when you go on the court.

No, I mooch Cliff Bars from him so let's keep it the same this season.

Lost at mixed (I sucked).

11 more days until our first 5.0 match of the season.

15 more days until next tournament.

Gonna make a point to practice serves at least 3x per week.

Gonna do a writeup on my conclusions after playing my first season of mixed.

All in all it was a fun and worthwhile thing.
