was looking at the live atp rankings there, he's gone from no. 33 to no. 63, is there any particular reason for this? he didn't have that many points to defend this week did he?

It looks like everyone's points from Rome have been taken off already. Rome points are coming off on Monday on the ATP website, Gulbis is losing 360.

The rankings seem a bit confusing in these next few weeks because of the calendar change.

the way he's been playing this year i'm surprised he's still in top 100 - what a waste of talent:-?

Yeah, he will still lose more points. I think his last chance to keep himself in the top 50 is to pass the first round in RG, with good draw otherwise, He will disappear.

A bit excessive there -- Gulbis is 64th in the world so far this season.

He has to defend his quarter-final points in Madrid as well, which I'm sure he won't, so he'll be down even more. Shame, because I like him as a player, he just can't seem to get himself together lately

are you kidding? safin was also very inconsistent and often didn't care but at least he won 2 slams(beating prime federer and then GOAT sampras). gulbis will never win a slam, so there are lightyears between them.

the reason why gulbis dropped is that he basically lost every match in the last 6 months.
