Sole or insole to be worn out?

I've always had to throw away tennis shoes when the right foot sole gets worn out. But with my current shoes (New Balance), I noticed that the soles are holding up, but instead both insoles are worn out have multiple holes - areas below the big toes and hills.

I'm wondering if one of the two results is more desirable - the sole or the insole to be worn out first? With my current shoes, I'm guessing that my feet are slipping inside the shoes more than with my previous tennis shoes. Is this something to be avoided? If so, what kind of insoles are good at preventing such slippage and still provide ample cushioning? I've used "SuperFeet" insoles that CitySport sales people strongly recommended, but they had little cushioning and were hard on my feet.

I'd prefer the outsoles to be worn out before the insoles get destroyed. Usually insoles fall apart when you slide in an awkward way consistently. Outsoles wear out from regular use.

I'd go back to your old tennis shoes because they can at least be worn and you won't have the foot sliding problem. Also, you can send back shoes that have a worn out outsole but most companies don't take back shoes with worn insoles.

What color Superfeet did you use, and how long ago?

The Superfeet green have no extra cushioning under the balls of the feet.

The Superfeet orange have cushioning under the balls of the feet, and the size of that cushioning was recently increased to include the whole forefoot area, instead of just across the balls of the feet:

I always throw out the original insoles that come with any tennis shoe. They are made of cheap foam that quickly compresses down and is useless for shock absorbtion.

I also use Orange super feet and they are amazing the only thing that i dont like about them is they squeak when you move but as they get formed better to the shoes they stop sqeaking, other than that they are amazingand they last forever.

My Superfeet Green have only been in my shoes about 2 months and some of the green is already lifting away from the sole. Probably will get some shoe glue to put it back in place but it annoys me that it does this for the price you pay.

I had Superfeet Blue. They had almost no cushioning, and so I think my joints took the brunt of the hit upon impact. The blue ones were recommended by Citysport sales associates even after I told them that I'd be playing tennis. Do you think Orange has more cushion?

Yes, but I don't think you should rely on insoles for cushioning anyway - that's the job of the shoe really. Superfeet are great because of the additional support. I have both blue and orange and think blue are perfect for tennis shoes because they're more narrow and streamlined (so fit better). I use orange in walking/every day shoes.
