Favorite Federer racket PJ (i.e., paintjob)

With all the recent hype/rumors swirling around lately regarding Federer's new frame (see http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=388107), I thought it would be fun to reminisce by recalling all the different paintjobs Federer featured throughout his pro career and asking you gents and ladies what PJ you like the most?

I'm listing all the different PJs Federer used, beginning in chronological order starting with the Wilson Prostaff 6.0 85 Mid-China up to the "leaked" image of the upcoming Fed frame.

1. PS 85 6.0 Mid-Production Chinese
2. HPS 6.1 Silver W
3. HPS 6.0 Yellow W
4. PS Tour 90
5. N90
6. K90
7. BLX90
8. PS6.190(?)

I'll follow this post with pics of each PJ so that no one has to draw from memory what each racket looks like.

As for my fav, the K90. For me, the K90 features the perfect amount of a dominant color (red) offset by a white background, detailed by subtle, but at the same time, edgy/radical graphics and text, making for an overall, well-balanced, symmetrical, eye-catching, and aesthetically pleasing PJ.

So what PJ fancies you?

1. N90, easily.
2. PS85, classic.
3. PS90, good enough

The rest look like they ripped off the design from a snowboard.

1. N90 - nice symmetric PJ with a simple but classy look. not to mention the swiss/canada flag color scheme that fits federer.
2. BLX90 - asymmetric black red swirls with a little gold that kinda worked
3. K90 - Meh, nothing special here. No character to the PJ. kinda reminds me of other brands of rackets like dunlop.
4. PS85 - Looks too last generation. black matte finish make it looks like something you'll see in a car repair shop. not to mention the german flag color scheme lines that makes it look like something people used to break down the berline wall with lol.
5. HPS90 - At least PS85 has character, this just says old and ugly.

Each PJ has gradually grown on me, after you see him use it for 3 years straight, you kind of get sick of it and want something else.

The PS Tour 90 and the K Factor.

I don't think the PS 85 should be counted; it's associated with a previous generation. I also love the HPS paintjobs (and would love to see those back), but they're all from the pre-GS days, and I'd say the paintjobs that are really associated with him only start from the PS Tour 90 onwards. So I left those out in consideration.
Also, I think due to simple, classic design and the flag colours, the Ncode is great, and is the one that really defines Federer par excellence.
That said, I really like and prefer the Kfactor and the PS Tour paintjob myself. It would probably be the PS Tour if only that one had been available with a short handle to the public :)

btw anyone have a list of the titles/slams - racquets he wont them with?
even though they would likely be paint jobs... assuming most sams he won with the k90

The K90 by a country mile. Feels great to play with and looks so cool, I have 4 of them and wouldn't play with anything else. Shame that they are out of production now as I'd like to get a couple more since 2 of the 4 I have are scuffed to death now.

I had the N90 but only played with them for 2 months, felt like playing with a plank of wood from the back of the court and gave me a sore arm as the weight across the racket didn't feel equally distributed.

K90 rulez!

Swiss flag - n90, K90
The duel - PS6.0 85
1st slam win - PST90

But for rackets that are closest to what one can buy retail the PS6.0 and the K90 should top this list.

definitely the PS TOUR 90. looks sharp.

the BLX stuff is pretty hideous. Looks like circus racquets. That being said the BLX surge model definitely has the best application of the BLX themes. Dunlop probably has the best design update of all brands right now. There previous ones were either dull or awkward and dull.

I believe the following is accurate:

-PS 6.0 85: 0 slams
-HPS 6.1 Silver W PJ: 0 slams
-HPS 6.0 Yellow W PJ: 0 slams
-PS Tour 90 PJ: 2 Slams (03 Wimbly; 04 Oz)
-N90 PJ: 7 Slams (06 Oz; 04-06 Wimbly; 04-06 USO)
-K90 PJ: 6 Slams (07 Oz; 07-08 USO; 09 FR; 07 Wimbly; 09 Wimbly + bonus 08 Olympic Gold in dubs!)
-BLX 90 PJ: 1 Slam (10 Oz)

While making sure my info is accurate, I also went ahead and updated that chart of Grand Slam PJs that was initiated in this thread (credit to martini1 for starting the discussion): http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=384890

Here's the chart:

U did most of the heavy lifting there :) Thanks.

Good to see BLX is hated. It looks like golden rainbow barf.

What is up with the BLX swirls. Did wilson do any consumer testing at all?

I have to say this is a little harsh...I like the black and red going on for both and retaining the matte finish is key. I have to say I really like holographic/gold lettering used, though I'm largely a symmetry guy so for me it's the original or the K90 fa sho.

This reinforces the fact that if ncoded whatever or Karophite Black was used...it definitely worked some magic for the Fed Express. He really came into his own style wise during this period too.

Perhaps. But I personally think the "custom" 90 what-have-you, K90, simply possessed the magical 80/20 Graphite/Kevlar layup all along. To me, that special Prostaff feel from this layup is unique and distinct from all other types of "technologies."

I don't understand all the hate for the BLX pj. I actually like the look of the BLX series. I play a BLX Blade 98 and I think it's one of the best looking racquets I've seen. The Tour 90 and 6.1 95 pj is pretty nice looking as well. I think it looks a lot "classier" than a lot of the bright yellow/orange neon looking stuff out there from Head and Babolat.

agreed black/red + little touch of gold is a nice combo
think ppl arent liking it cause fed isnt winning as much with this racquet vs N90/K90

not sure about white/red and gold though...

Nah....it has nothing at all to do with Federer. People just think gold on a tennis racquet is garish.

I have to agree that I like the colors of the new BLXs except the pic of the new white one (and the Blue Orange and white one)

I'm still waiting to play a guy who likes to buy his BLX Blade 98 in pink....
