i read a review for this indian restaurant in rockville. some guy on yelp said on his review -- "it's not authentic indian food. it's PF Gandhi's".

downs i'm obsessed with making the perfect penang curry now. i've tried a few different recipes. even the worst one was great. i think it's almost idiotproof.

Sappy, I've really only uses it to listen to friends' playlists to get some 'new' music so far. One of my friends is a writer and I've found her writing playlist to be very good for studying.

If its in MD somewhere at like 9 or 10AM then I can make an appreance. I got some stuff I gotta do later Sat night so would have to leave NLT 2PM. Last time when I went to Xiz deal that DC crap scrfewed me for time so I cant risk it.

I still probably hit 4.0 forehands. But the rest of game is pretty much done for.

Ok, so I'm a bit disappointed, Sap. I know I'm new here...but thought you might take a shot a me too.

I'll give you a hint: it's none of the guesses you've made for any of the other TWMACers...and I don't recognize a single title on Dats' practice list. :p

Oh...and I don't own an iPad. Do have a playlist or two in my freebie Windows Media Player but that's about it.

If you can guess any two titles of the 500+ CDs I own, you'll be a winner.

Spotify is blocked for me. :( WTF FBI, I'm fighting terrorism and you don't let me listen to music?!?!

I'm gonna see if Groove Shark is blocked...

My new work cube backs up to cubes where two ex-Marines work, both of whom have the Marine Hymn as ringtones on their cellphones. And they get a lot of calls through the day.

Yesterday, I downloaded Anchors Aweigh to my iPhone, and everytime they get a call, I punch it and blast it full volumn. All the sailors and ex-sailors in the office gave me a standing O first time I did it. Ha. Nice to know you can still make waves even if you can't pull the oar.

Sap, other stars on my iPhone playlist = Avett Brothers, Cat Stevens, The Civil Wars, David Allen Coe, Doors, Eurythmics, Everly Brothers, Handel, The Highwaymen, Isley Brothers, Jackie Wilson, Joe & Eddie, John Hiatt, Johnny Cash, Journey, Kenny Ball & His Jazzmen, Kingston Trio, Marcy Playground, Old Crow Medicine Show, R.E.M., Scott Biram, Steve Earle, Talking Heads, Thin Lizzy, Tom Petty, U2, Uncle Kracker, and, of course, THE KING.

My MP3 list is really diverse, but it's past my bedtime. *YAWN*

oh i forgot:
hwood: melissa etheridge and alanis morissette mix tape

Are they lesbians or something? Morissette had some good songs. Maybe the other chic did to. The name sounds familar but dont remember any of her songs. The CD player in my car gets switched between, NWA, Eazy-E and Freddie Gibbs. Its been that way for a couple months now.

I actually got pinged by a friend of mine that used to play D3 ball up at Wellesly near Boston. Think we might head to either CabinJohn park or someplace closer to her in DC since she doesn't have a car and can only metro. Will definitely keep you in mind next time i get a hall pass!

Nope. None of the above. Used to have Marvin Greatest Hits CD but my sister permanently stole it almost a decade ago...so it doesn't count. Besides, it was a lark purchase anyway.

Plenty of Christmas CDs in the collection. None of them related to the kiddos. Title, though, please (to qualify). And who the heck is Sarah Brightman? Jeez. Now I really feel like an old fart. :p

Hmmm...I'm wondering if I could get closer than Sappy, but I have a feeling your music collection would be surprising!

USTA story..

Men's doubles. Combo 8.5 I think.

Topaz.. it's the twinkle in your eye... Kelly's team. kidding..

Home team is our club. Court #1.

Home team scrambles for drop shot. Barely gets to the shot and hits it over the net. Other team doesn't react and claims it was a double bounce. Away team says it was clear it was a double bounce. Home team says it's their call.

Argument goes on for like 10 minutes. All why I sat at the club bar drinking a cold one.

Away team grunts and goes to serve the next point. Serve goes in, Home team hits a lob. Lob lands 3 feet (...or better) inside the baseline. Away team says "out.. it's our call". All havoc breaks out. 5...10...15 minutes goes by. Home team loses after all is said and done.

So does this kind of odd stuff happen a lot in USTA leagues?

Gotta tell this story.

I'm not used to a lot of trash talk...amongst the women I play with/against. The guys, in Mixed, that's another story and I'm glad to trade throw-downs with them.

But today, in the La-de-da Ladies Who Lunch league, I arrive a bit early to watch the singles contests conclude. Our #3 singles lady has her hands full with her opponent who played a bit like me, I must say. Didn't prefer to stay on the baseline, but could...and came in whenever the opportunity arose. My teammate luckily prevailed 8-6 in that one.

So we're in the ladies room: my partner and I...and that opponent. I compliment her on the match, something on the order of "Nice match, lots of good points...I'm not looking forward to having to play you in doubles." (I'd gotten a quick look at the lineup and knew we were all in at the #2 doubles spot).

No **** she says to me: "Well, guess I kinda made do in singles. But I Rock Doubles. Bad News for You." And then proceeds to walk out.

Partner and I are dumbfounded, as was a fellow teammate who was in one of the stalls.

We get out to warmups and Ms. Rock and her partner are indeed a handful. Rock's partner hits a heavy topspin FH, had plenty of slice on the BH and enough, ah, personal weight to make her OHs deadly. First game, we receive, get down a few points...but then fight back to get the crucial break. Switch sides, I've gotta serve, get down 0-40...fight back...to hold. Not really sure how it all went South for them; they tried to smoke me a few times down the alley...I swear I've never seen a team hit more DTL shots than them...but before we knew it, we were up 8-1 (it's a pro-set). We have a little mental lapse but then close it out 10-3.

So much for Ms...I Rock Doubles. Has she even bothered to check out my (and partner's) USTA/doubles record? I Don't Think So. :p

So we win a white glove match but the team loses overall 4-3. And to really bite the big one, one teammate on another court ends up a Patient First...with a broken wrist. Dam, dam, double dam. I'd much rather have lost to Ms. Rock than to have a teammate walk away from it all with a cast.

Hmmm, I actually had heard the name...but didn't know the connection. Weber is just plain weird. Wife has a good set of pipes though. Even if she's not in my collection.

Sigh...Sinatra is a yes...but it's a compilation CD I bought for my (now) 80-yr old father...so I could put it on a cassette for him. :p But, OK. That's one.

No to Cole although I do have one of his daughter's in there. Their video mashup of Unforgettable is/was...unforgettable.

*scratches head*

I'm not really that weird, gang. Fairly mainstream, I would have thought. Y'all just (thankfully!) forget how old I am. Many of my first CDs replaced cassettes, which replaced 8-tracks, which replaced albums...which were the Big Girl versions of 45s. :p

No, no, and well, no.

Dang, y'all are giving me a complex. So I go out to Wiki...to try to find the Top Selling Albums of All Time. Of the 11 that have sold more than 40 million copies each...I own 5 of them. I also own 7 of the next batch of 30-39-million copy sellers too. In addition, I gave a major clue of the requisite genre (that comprises ~1/3 of the collection) several posts back. Pick any top selling Country CD of the past decade...and it's probably in the drawer. I'm also, as mentioned, a big fan of Christmas music and have many of the most popular ones of the past Century. 'Course, then there's the Classical/Opera/Big Band era stuff. That's kind of niche so I didn't expect that to be a guess.

Oh well...it's been a fun exercise. Let's move on to better topics...like whether the SEC will continue to have the top 2 teams again after this w/es effort. LSU will have their hands full. 'Bama should Roll.

Bennie Goodman?!?!
Sadly...some albums (which I can no longer play since I've given up my turntable)...but no CDs. Same with Glenn Miller (I've got the full set of souvenir albums from the Wright-Pattie AF Base Museum) but there's a few (re-released) CDs and the very popular In The Digital Mood...although that's more of a tribute than the real deal. I never realized it at the time, but it was actually one of the first commercial CDs ever released. Hmmm...maybe I think I'll go get it out now...turn it up loud, let the chittlins dance to some real dance music. ;)
