Mr. Orynge
There are countless video games filled with what can only be described as unspeakable violence and depraved misogyny, and THIS is the one you feel offended by???!!! I think PETA sometimes pushes the envelope in the name of advocacy but turning the tables on the video game culture to make a humane point doesn't offend me.
It's not a 'humane point,' it's a macabre (and bizarre) association between gaming's
least violent icon and an act that nobody playing such a game would consider, much less condone. People playing MW3 are not going around shooting people in real life; people playing Mario are not going around looking for tanookis to skin. I understand your point in the context of the former, but this really isn't the venue for that can of worms. The latter, on the other hand, is one of those things that nobody in their right mind would even have conceived of, unless they were deliberately looking for a reason to make a stink - that's why I said they have to go out of their way. In fact, those two kinds of games are 100% incomparable in terms of the impression they've left on our culture. There's a reason why people associate Nintendo with 'kiddie' games.
Let's make this simple. I've played Mario games all my life, and I have never once been inclined to wear fur. These whackjobs are making a connection between two completely isolated phenomena, and they couldn't have picked a less relevant group to target with their hyperbole.
