No White Christmas This Year....

Yup, same here.

Last Christmas was the coldest recorded here at around -19, this year looks like being the warmest up around 15. Give me -19 anyday! It doesn't feel very festive like it is at the moment.

I take it you are talking Celsius while the OP is talking that other funny unit that goes beyond 100!

It's 13 C where I am right now (8 pm), and the lows are around 5C this week. Awfully cold for us people without heated homes. I am shivering all day!

Snow is messy ! I've seen it once or twice in my life.

As an American, it's embarrasing that we can't or won't make the change to metric. Even the English abandoned the English system. It's so ********. Whenever I meet someone who defends the English system, I ask 'Quick, what's bigger, 9/32" or 5/16"?'. The answer is always, 'uhhhh, ummmm...' With metric, you KNOW that 6mm is bigger than 5mm.

I still like the British system for people's heights. Never got used to the centimeters measurement.

Perhaps for length we should abandon both the English and Metric systems and use the tennis racquet system of points. For example, the distance to the moon would be just over a billion (1,216,512,000) points.

Some things have historically been in British units because they were the inventors.

The net is 36 inches high at the center. This comes from a 27 inch racquet length + a 9" head length, the way net heights used to be verified.

Grip sizes are 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 etc (leaving out the 4)

Court dimensions are 78 feet.

Yeah, celsius.

It doesn't have to snow for it to feel festive here, but a nice frosty, crisp morning is pretty essential for giving/receiving presents on Christmas morning :)

It will be weird doing it with it being mild, dark, rainy, windy etc.. outside. That's what we usually get in summer over here ;)

Where is it you're from?

Thank god no snow this year!
Last year we drowned in the white crap, it was freezing cold for almost a month... terrible!

Right now there's +10°C outside, very good!!

Yeah, after 2 nasty winters here in NE US, I wouldn't care if it never gets below 0 deg this winter. Got in 18 holes yesterday, 64 deg F, and loved every minute.

Looks like its due to be really mild here in the South of Ireland near Cork City- around 53 degrees fahrenheit and hopefully nice and dry! Was coverred in snow and freezing this time last year...

34 here and we had trace flurries this morning, guess the closest we'll get to a white Christmas here but after last year, I'm not going to complain. I can feel my fingers and toes this year :)

Ugh.

1. Who are you talking to?
2. What is 'it'?
3. What is 'you know what'?

I can't officially speak for chrischris, but I'm assuming:

1. Jimjim...he lives across the street from chrischris.
2. This is it.
3. This one I had to do a little research on, so I decided to just go with the wikipedia entry.

Maybe this will stave off another 'tennis goes to the weather channel' episode.

Have no idea but if it feels appropriate, sure i will.
Thats not to say , which i can see you are maybe aiming at , by any means or stretch of the imagination the only subject i know.
The idea of exaggation and visionless complaining and whining is even worse as topics at any party incl. New years.

Its liberating and refreshing to be able to speak freely on topics that are important to our economy and freedom.
Try it , you will like it.
