Querrey switches to Babolat

Wow, Sam has switched too? Does anyone else feel like a lot of decently well known pros have gone and switched racquets this year?

There is a thread that Prince is in trouble and/or leaning down considerably. Maybe this is a result. Also I recall Sam didn't play with a current model or a model that was still being sold.

I'm wondering the same thing. I would imagine he went the Aerostorm route. Would be a huge switch to go to the APD from his Prince frames.

I'm assuming that Babolat and/or a racket technician(or a Babolat racket technician, lol) will create a Babolat frame that suits Querry in terms of weight, feel, etc. The differences between the different models that the pros use aren't necessarily the same as for those of us stuck purchasing the stock, commercial models.

If Babolat simply wants to add one more pro to its list, such as Querry, I',m sure Babolat can create a frame that is fairly similar to Querry's old frame in terms of feel and performance.

Either that or Querry was actively looking to go to something completely different and any "huge switch" is welcome.

I thought bab guys just played the frames. It looks like an aerostorm to me.

I think you are correct, looks like aerostorm to me as well from the hoop shape.

I remember lpshanet saying on here that Babolat doesn't do the same things as some of the other pro rooms. It's usually a matter of using an older model with a new PJ (Rafa, Ginepri, Gonzo, Stosur, etc)

The 2 racquets are completely different. He will have to get used to the new one, because he lost to Hanescu, that may be showing that the racquets behave very differently.

Maybe in a long run it will actually be better for him, who knows, but Prince didn't drop him, I can guarantee you that, the guy is a top 20 potential.

He's already had elbow surgery.......a stiff Babolat will definitely not help that!!!!

This is probably a good switch for him. I applaud the change, especially if it an ASTour...love that stick. However all Samurai must acknowledge that Sam will not attain true success on the tour until he rectifies that limp left hand position on the forehand. That is aesthetically and therefore technically displeasing.

Looks like a Stars and Stripes Pure Aero.
Yup. It is this PJ.. just on a Pure Aero. Somehow this is more gaudy than the last stars and stripes edition

Old wine, new sacks. Furthermore he is known for using the green Hyper g strings, so this isnt his particular racquet. Its a bit strange marketing, becausevwhu would any non American want to buy a racquet with Usa flag painted?

I guess he is just back to origin, as he used Babolat until a few years ago.
Wozniacki did the same a while ago: had switched to Yonex, but could not use the PJ trick due to the Japanese racquet peculiar shape, so he went back after 1 year of poor results.
