As a Federer fan I don't mind Nadal playing great tennis. I also don't mind Federer's level dipping, it's part of the game. What is unpleasant though, is the constant harping about the rivalry. Yes he has a losing record vs the 2nd most successful player of his career. But that is just fine. This isn't snooker, the match-up factor is hard to beat. Why can't people enjoy tennis and not be so infantile?

Nadal has missed so many opportunities in this match on break points. His bp conversion rate is rivaling Fed's in AO 2009 final.

Anyway, Fed's defense is sooo underrated. Even at 30, he still defends like no one's business. Nadal totally had some pts wrapped up, but Fed neutralized..

The boring thing about Fedal matches is that it's all a question of who can get to the other's BH and both play tight at times.

Fed-Nole matches and Nole-Nadal matches seem to produce higher quality IMO.

This match in particular hasn't produced many inspired moments.

Superman on kryptonite island-> Superman looking ordinary.

Throghout his career Fed has been almost superhuman agains the field but Nadal was always his kryptonite.

I still maintain MN is not a troll, I disagree with him about some stuff regarding Novak but he's a nice guy overall.

I cant think of a setting in which a guy wearing a blue unibody and a red cape would look "ordinary"

Hitting to bh 90% worked for Nadal. Worked for Djoker.

Works for Fed when he uses it. Why the hell doesn't he do it more??

Look they are still alive and standing up so who knows who is going to win. I am too superstitious to say Nadal

Federer does not like playing it safe. He should be hitting cross-court with his forehand most of the time. Nadal's backhand has looked worse than Federer's, but he's had to play far fewer of them and consequently hasn't been nearly as burned by his backhand as Federer has on his own.

This conservative DTL backhand that Rafa hits which lands short, is what KILLS him against djokovic.

Fed does nothing on short DTL backhands from Rafa, but Djoko makes Nadal pay. Every time..

What's wrong with that statement? You don't think Federer gets irritated playing Nadal, and never really having an advantage over him unless it's indoors? That takes nothing away from Fed. He's the GOAT imo, but fact of the matter is, he looks ordinary when he plays Nadal.

Yeah, I understand you there.

But it's more frustrating than that because Fed looks like Superman for two-thirds of a set than goes downhill so fast for no good reason. The problem is he was so much better for so long on tour that he can't compete in really tight matches like this. His talent is a blessing and a curse.

Fed is my favorite, but I never consider a win against Nadal a given, even on an indoor court.

Yeah, Federer refusing to learn a laser-like, rock-solid double-handed backhand is something we will never forgive him. The hubris!

But if Fed had a two-hander then he wouldn't be old school enough and BreakPoint wouldn't like him so much :)

I'll never forgive him for not having Guga's BH though, tis' shameful.

That's it in a nutshell

I actually wouldn't be too surprised to see Federer sneak this fourth set. The pressure's off him now and he seems to be loosening up, especially on serve, while Nadal has the weight of winning on his shoulders.

Great forehand from Roger!

Rafa's backhand looks good at the moment.

Anyway, I'm not a Fed fan anymore...this match has totally killed it for me.

Can't agree with that sentiment at all, Fed still plays the most beautiful(for me) style of play on tour, he'll be my favourite until he retires, no question.
