Volkl Tour 10 MidPlus Gen 1 re-release?

Hi TW,

Is there any possible way that TW could have volkl make a run of volkl tour 10 Gen 1 midpluses? There are a few board members who still swear by them and many people claim it's volkl's best 10 series racket ever. I remember it was one of the options on the poll you had before the PS85 was brought back, so there must be some demand for it. I also remember when you found some new old stock and how fast they sold out. Volkl brought back the tour 8 in Europe, so they do have the capability. I bought 2 PS85s when TW brought them back and I would buy 2-3 of the Tour 10's if they came back. Even though it is not probable, I thought I'd ask. Thank you in advance and all you do is appreciated.

The Becker Legend/Melbourne is a Tour 10 with an 18x20 drill pattern and about 10 extra grams of weight - oh, and those recesses in the 3 and 9 o'clock areas of the hoop. I don't think it would be that hard to do. They could even sneak a little deltacore material in there. And they couldn't change the weight distribution, of course.

I'd be down.

Trust me, they are not. They are inspired by the Quantum 10 tour, not the Tour 10, big difference!
There is only one racket with that buttery feel ;-)

Please please help this happen! It's the best 10 series midplus Volkl ever produced.

How much interest does TW need to justify a re-issue? If anyone has a quick link to the poll mentioned in the OP, that would be great.

Interest in Volkl frames seems to have gone down a bit since the recent banning of a particular poster.

What does that have to do with the re-release of this racket? Also, there are over 500 views of this thread, so interest isnt that bad. Finally, I know you didnt like the guy, thats fine, but why are you still talking about him even after he's been banned?

i agree, a good thing i stocked them up, if you have to find them now in new condition you need a lot of luck i guess.
Big problem is, on clay the bumpers wear out very quickly so i'm down to my last 10 bumpers...

Of course it would be great if our old favourite racquets such as the Tour 10 Midplus Gen.1, Max 200G etc. but you have to realize that from TWs point of interest it is only logical to reissue only the frames so well known that often their playability is hugely overrated. Often when something stops being available the interest just goes up.

Look at the Pacific X Feel Pro 90 Vacuum. It isn't exactly a best seller, right?
You can blame it on the high price when it first came out etc. but the fact is that the number of people who wrote that they'd stock up on those frames if they'd be reintroduced and the number which actually bought them are different.

You know who's really happy about the comeback of this racquet? The guys who couldn't get grommets for their Fischer version of this model. :p

Even used condition is hard to find. Someone wanted to sell me some 9/10 used ones a while ago for about 250 dollars each. Thats crazy.

And as far as the vacuum 90 example, while I do agree to a certain extent, it still is a 90 inch frame which doesn't sell well regardless. Not the best type of frame to bring back. The T10MP Gen 1 is much more user friendly with a large sweetspot among other attributes. Also, tw included it in their poll of which racket to bring back (with the ps85, pc600 and a yonex) so there has to be some business sense in bringing it back.

I agree that it was a curious choice to include it in the re-issue poll last year, but I don't know if we can read anything into it. Didn't TW bring back the T10mp a few years ago when they were able to gather the remaining stock from the original production run? Too bad I wasn't tuned in at the time. Heard they didn't have much problem selling it out again...

ericsson, the grommet sets are, or at least were, easy to get in the US. Walked into shop that carried Volkl and they told me they'd talk to the sales rep and a week later, I had a couple of sets.

What are you going to do when the day comes you can no longer maintain your T10's?

They sold out very quickly when TW found some old stock which makes me feel like another run would sell out as well. I wish I didnt snooze on that opportunity. Also, were you able to get the grommets recently?

Yes, a quick sell-out could be a positive indicator for future sales, but how quick did they actually sell and how many units were moved. Another thing in favor is that there are now fewer options available for people looking for that buttery feel.

I picked up the grommets over a year ago and haven't inquired since. If you know of a shop with a Volkl rep contact you should ask them if they can get some. If I can still get them, I wouldn't mind sending them on to you if you were interested.

Not sure when I'll get back to the shop, but when I do, I'll let you know.

BTW, this thread is now on its second page! If that doesn't convince Volkl or TW to bring back the T10mp, I don't know what will.

Much thanks. And I agree! It's strange that TW has not answered considering the amount of views and replies.

I'm glad you used the word 'were' cos 'are' would be a little too positive. Nowadays it's very hard to find them trust me and you know what the worst of all is, Volkl still makes them...(pro only)
Dont really know what i can do, i test a lot of rackets, i could easily switch but i would never get that buttery feel i have now...
Nope, i guess i would just try to play with no bumper but tape instead although that's not a durable option too especially on the rough clay here.

I have no idea what you're talking about.

We have talked about this in the past, but the minimum number required to bring the racquet back into production exceeds demand.

However, we have been talking about some other very exciting opportunities with Volkl.

Thank you Chris. I figured that would be the case, but wanted to ask to make sure. Looking forward to hearing about these opportunities with volkl in the future.

Way to buzz-kill a thread, Chris. Thanks.

Okay. Instead, just lie to us and have Volkl drill a Melbourne 16x19, leave out 10 grams, paint it black and yellow and tell us it's a Tour 10mp.

However, we have been talking about some other very exciting opportunities with Volkl.

Let me guess: A YouTube TW/Volkl channel hosted by Tennis Maverick?

That would be one way to kill a business.

The return of the C10 Pro Xtended? In my dreams maybe!

I'll ask my local shop if they can, but I definitely would be interested if you could get some grommets. Please let me know. Sargonnadirsha@yahoo.com

Though I'd still buy at least 2 sticks if TW brought the racket back!

Unfortunately, my source tells me they can no longer get the grommet sets for the T10mp. I tried a second source with strong Volkl ties, but they also came up dry. T10VE, T10 GenII - yes. T10MP - no.:( Looks like the past is getting further and further away...

I agree about the feeling of the racket but for me these rackets are too stiff for me.
I tried to sale 4 of these rackets here at TW, but up untill now not one positive respons.
