Oh yeah, that's a great idea! Let our captain know!

Or, we really should be practicing on clay, too. Ideally.

I can't wait for AQ to make us that awesome cake she posted earlier! :)
Dang. Do I really have to?

Congrats, guys. But tell me this, how'd ya'll snake out a forfeit at #1 in your last match? That's strictly verboten around here. I did see where Downs had a walk in the park. (Want some good olive oil & vinegar for those breadsticks?).

Now about Mixed Districts. I think it's the weekend of June 9th. I will not be playing in it. :p But I think we'll be around. Weekend team has a match but no tellin' if I'm in it or what my Mommy duties might be for that timeframe. As it gets closer, let's talk.

As for any tips on the Richmond teams, eh, they're still doing some goofy flight playoff. Since we're not involved, I don't know the format or even how many teams will go. When that dust has settled, I'll look 'em up and see if anything pops out at me.

On where to stay, there should be plenty of places over on Southside (where Midlothian is) but since that's almost ~45mins away from me, I don't know much about it. But definitely stay on that side of the Rivah. It's over in the middle of a very, very large Planned Community so there won't be anything within walking distance but it's not far from the main "drags" of Midlothian Turnpike and Hull St Rd.

Feel free to shoot your captain my off-TT email if they/you don't like the info your league provides.

Congrats, again...and I will come to watch (with Triple Chocolate Mousse Pie/Cake in hand!).

And no, I didn't know that about Kimmie, but it doesn't surprise me. Didn't she play mixed with Lleyton back in the day when they were engaged?
Actually, Kim is/was a very accomplished doubles player. I used to love watching her and Ay play. They complimented each other so well.

As for mixed w/Hewitt, she carried him. (But then again, he's not really a bad dubs player either. He and the Gooch just took out Fed and Stan in Davis Cup last fall.)

Yayyyy, that's the *real* motivation for going to districts...hanging with AQ!

The default was because the opposing female was over 15 minutes late.

Now I do remember, she played with Ai Sugiyama right?

Kimmy's doubles record
Career record 131–54 (70.81%)
Career titles 11 WTA, 3 ITF
Highest ranking No. 1 (4 August 2003)

P.s. Will miss her when she retires this year.

I saw auzz on the wanted ads going for a rebel and warrior. they are relatively slightly stiffer racquets. I don't mind trading. but I believe he is not local, right? or else we can just trade and hit. but ur right, it is really flex and really comfy. thx for the advice on lead last time on the 3/9. definitely made the sweetspot go lower.

i was actually posting for a friend... he ended up getting the warrior. that thing is sweet!!!

auzzie is back in his homeland...
back to my roots!

wow maybe trading racquets is a better way to go.

auzz: let me know what kind of kangaroo racquets u have if u r interested. Or if u can ship a couple of dingo's over, we can do a swap as well. Always wanted one for a pet.
i don't have a ton of trades right now, i whittled down my collection to include only bare essentials before i started traveling. but just in case, what racquets do you like? and what other racquets are you trying to get rid of? how's the spin on the bastcore?

I got a old Prince Graduate that has been exempted that Iam trying to get rid of as well. I am willing to trade a dingo's dingleberry for this. That's how much I think it's worth.

BC30 is nice if you're after a flexy frame with nice spin. Very open string pattern. I still think spin is mostly genererated by the player, but it's got that 16x19 skips at 7&9 pattern. But I'll bet that you can't find a racquet with a RA46 rating. But it depends if what racquet you're playing with. I'll say the power is equivalent to a PDGT. If you're looking for less power than the BC20 maybe worth taking a look as well.
But how much is shipping to AU? Maybe it may not be economical for both us as well.

Speaking of the warrior, TW playertesters kept of complaining about the feel on the racquet? Is it really muted?

I would have hoped that the BC had a lot less power than a PD!

I'm not getting a muted feeling at all from the Warrior- but I have been using O3 frames recently. It has a solid feel to it. You can feel the stiffness without it being harsh at all. Great combination of specs. And the frame lets you just attack the ball. Really good controlled power.

Don't know how much "hangin'" there will be. LOL. But we'll see.

Yeah, it happens. But would you believe in the last captains meeting I was in, they emphasized that we shouldn't actually start any match play until (9:15am - in our case because all matches start at 9am, warm-ups, you know) so that if a player from one of the upper lines doesn't show, captains must shift the lineups up to play "legally." Yeah, right. :-?

Now I do remember, she played with Ai Sugiyama right?
Yeah, Kim and Ai played together a lot (sorry about my "i" to "y"). And I will sorely miss Kim too when she retires. She was a good role model as a tennis player, woman and mother. Ahhhh, those splits....I often wondered if they'd be the end of her but I think she's struggled more with ab and arm issues.

And dummy me, I was looking at our local 7.0 Mixed flight playoff...when ya'll are in 8.0. I know some of the folks in that group as well...one team is full of nothing but 4.5/3.5 combos. Hurumpf!

I just have a fear of stringing 03 racquets. Maybe I just need a lesson from someone one of these days.

yep used that sharpie cap trick. It's also darn hard to mount. No gromments means no reference points to mount and hard to secure.
And I have to put the racquet on a particular side when mounting or else I'll be inverting the stringing pattern.
But O3 is a nice technology though and all the O3 racquets have surprisingly anti-bending properties. At first I thought the holes will make the racquet bend more. Glad I was wrong on this. Just wished they made temporary gromment sleeves so mounting will be easier.

Just got my MRI results from the doc:
two torn ligaments. 1 full and 1 partial.

Maybe I should take up golf for the next 6 weeks?

CB -- sorry to hear. two ligaments sounds excessive. i'm pretty sure i only popped one of sappy's ligaments.

JRstriker12 -- welcome to the TWMAC. we sometimes talk about tennis if you're into that sorta thing.

topaz -- congrats on your new relationship with PD. one of these days you should tell us his real name. maybe when you guys get serious.

downs -- was invited to play on another team. i can't do it but the idea of making districts or sectionals on a MD, VA, and DC team sounds fun. i want to be able to play myself in singles and see which monkey reigns supreme.

Ouch is right; sorry to hear the bad news, but don't think golf is in the cards for you, either. Not that I play that "old person" sport, but I hear that a real golf swing puts more torque on the ankle than a real tennis swing.

What's the recommended healing process? I'm taking copious quantities of generic Voltaren for my simple tendonitis, and it's still very sore. Did hit some serves yesterday with the Yonex twins, and even that caused a flareup.

Take care and beware of the lunch recommendations from this crew. Could lead to complications...

That stinks, CoolBlue. A full tear, huh? Forget the golf. Hit the weight room, work on the upper body, come back smokin' a FH.

Don't rush it though. Hang tough.

My lunch was uninspiring and dinner prospects only marginal: it's leftover night at our house. But gotta admit, there's a nice selection -- vension, chicken w/caper sauce, hoisin marinaded pork and homemade chicken caccitore. I'm still struggling with how much to make: 2 adults (one who sometimes has a Monster appetite, other times, consumes at a "normal" human male's pace) and two little kids, who like their Daddy, sometimes like to eat and other times, just push the food around their plate.

Not sure what to do for "Easter Dinner."

At least your doctor cared enough to give you prescription better pain meds. My doc prescribed me some ibuprofen the size of horse pills and told me to suck it up.
He gave me a tighter soft cast and I have to keep my level 3 mcdavid ankle brace on for a couple of more weeks. This kinda explains why the back of thighs were straining as well. I guess the Achilles tendon connects up there as well.

yeah. since I haven't been exercising, i've been trying to keep myself on restrictions. I've been resisting sap's advances on buffet pitfalls and down's attempt to go greek in a sandwichpa'loza.

I have a feeling I'll be doing veggie delights at subways for awhile... *yawn*

AQ: Does this mean I can get a sympathy triple choco moouse cake in the next TWMAC meetup?

TMonk: You probably popped one of my ligaments last time too. You are now officially titled, "Official Ligament Popper of TWMAC section"

downs: Buy my BC30, since you are not subjected to the same 3 racquet rule in your home.

Xisbum: Does the ana pic come anymore supersized?

Also, I've noticed that zap only posts at night now? Did he get bitten by a vampire? Or is he always out with all the TW gals nowadays?

you mean three of the same racquet? or TOTAL? i have a solution because i'm a problem solver.

1 - get a 12 pack tennis bag. the bigger the better.
2 - paypal account.
3 - buy racquets on tw forums.
4 - use paypal for transactions.
5 - hide racquets in 12 pack tennis bag.
6 - repeat as necessary.
7 - buy another 12 pack bag if you need more space.

i've also used this one with the wife: "i'm going to save these racquets for my son to play with when he's older". i no longer have those youtek prestige pros. but the idea was sound at the time.

Only works when your kid doesn't snoop around in your 12 pack. Unfortunately he is into tennis too and he keeps pulling out racquets while watching matches. (please don't ask where he learned that from...)

I remembered last time, my son said, "I like Nadal's racquet?" Mom goes, "I thought your dad sold his Nadal racquet?" busted.
