That's what you get.
You double fault the French Open 2012 championship point away Novak...

he knew that the serve has to be good (the best), or Rafa would hammer back.. Novak had 3 DF on crucial points.

Wouldn't be surprised if Djokovic changes up his serve after this tournament, very low percentage first serve and not much on the second serve to work with.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the Spanish National Anthem for the greatest clay court player who has ever lived. And also for the greatest tennis showman who has ever lived, the Mallorca Bull-Rafa Nadal! Uncle Tony is now very proud!

There is no coincidence.

Djokovic realized that he needed to serve aggressive in order to challenge Nadal and maintain the initiative during rallies.

This requires taking risk, and doing so on the 2nd serve, while adding even more risk, still has the potential benefits that were not realized during those lost points.

What kind of a risk is double faulting match point away? I thought that keeping serving percentage high, regardless of serve speed, is the ticket to winning more games. The best way to lose a match is to make errors. Especially on the serve...

Not if you're Djokovic playing against Nadal. He realized that he needed to put Nadal on the defensive, in order to have a chance to overcome those break points.

It's just a bug in the Djoker v3.0 BETA software. They programmed v3.0 such that it could save match points, but they forgot about championship points!

Nadal was tight and just looping the ball back that last game. He didn't need to go for that bigger serve IMO.

It's not only the 1st serve % and lack of aces - he's putting them in the middle of the service box.

Well, based on the amount of bugs we can say that Windows' ME team is working on the project, huh?

You may be right, but I was referring specifically to Djokovic's decision process.

Especially considering his matches against Federer when Djokovic went for broke early during those points, it is no surprise that he did the same on his own serve.

I'll give you another thread title: Djokovic wins 8 consecutive games against straight-sets finalist, eventual champion and all-time clay legend.

Come on, guys, are you as exacting as this with yourselves in your own daily life? No lulls? No breaks of concentration? No bad days at the office?

No Wimbly for him if his serve is gonna be like this.

His serve was bad all in all. Too many DFs, poor 1st %, and not enough big serves at big moments.

If he gets his serve straight and remembers to come in on the grass, he is the favorite. Grass rewards what Novak does just like clay rewards what Nadal does.
