Murray's golden chance

Hardly a golden chance with Davydenko first round, Karlovic, Baghdatis and still Cillic, Del Potro and Tsonga to overcome.
Compare to Federer and Djokovic.
They have a day's extra rest and will be fresher with much easier draws.
Come on Wimbledon. If you're supposedly cheating for Murray then you're not dong a very good job.

Less so, I don't see them making a wimbledonfinal. Not through Murray and Tsonga. Also, for Murray and Tsonga it seems more like a chance they waited for.

Well I agree that Murray and Tsonga are the favorites but I think that nearly any player remaining in that part of the draw have a chance to knock them out. It is a golden chance for all of them, but only Murray and Tsonga have some extra pressure because of it.

Also I wonder who would win a semi-final between these too. Consistency should favor Murray, who is one of the few player who could return, but I'm not sure. What do you think?

he doesn't have to worry bout Nadal...frankly this is about as good of a chance as he's going to get

Murray is 5-1 v Tsonga and has won he last 4, with 2 of them coming in a Wimby QF and a Queen's final. I think Murray would be slight favourite - Jo would still have a good chance of winning the match though.

I think Djokovic has this wrapped up to be honest. The only player who could have beaten him has gone.

Me too, I was thinking about this today. A Federer vs Ferrer final would be my top pick.

Mine too, I like Ferrer and Federer would have a field day with him on the low bouncing, slice-rewarding, serve rewarding surface. Ferrer really wouldn't have a prayer

Yes I agree but recent form is more in favor of Tsonga. He nearly knocked out Djokovic in RG on clay, while Murray wasn't very consistent thoose last months. So I don't really know what to do about these last result.

Djokovic-Federer and Tsonga-Murray could make for an amazing friday. If they all make it. So much less predictable than RG.

Yep, Nole would be favorite but not a lock to win. We don't know yet how they match-up on grass, but on any surfaces if Roger serves well he can trouble Nole. On the other side, Murray-Tsonga would be very hard to predict. And none of them are sure to reach the semi-final!

Now their is some suspense!

There will be a new Wimbledon finalist on Sunday but will there be a new Wimbledon winner on Sunday?

Anyway, it will be nice to have a major that will actually finish on the day it is supposed to, going all the way to Paris to see half a match aaaaarghhhhhhh..

The bottom half is wide open.

Murray, Tsonga, Ferrer, Del Potro, Fish, Cilic, I wouldn't even write off Baker/Kohli

A Fish-Baker QF would be great. My only fear is that if it happened, ESPN would interrupt the actual match for several feature packages. They did that yesterday instead of showing a tight portion of Baker's match.

Tsonga or Murray would be nice. Del Potro or Fish would be good as well.

Not Ferrer though. Can't fathom a grinder reaching the final.

Ferrer and Delpo aren't really the sort of player I want in a Wimbledon final. I want someone who can stand up to the likes of Federer and Djokovic and not just kneel over.

Murray in the final: Awesome. With all the home support there really would be nothing to stop him, not even the player across the net. But that same crowd could just as well give out an enormous amount of pressure resulting in that he just folds.

Tsonga: YES, JUST GIVE ME! He WILL come out swinging and driven by a surge of aggression, he could easily win at these coveted grounds. That is as long as he doesn't remember that he's French. If he gets it, he'll probably be the coolest Wimbledon champion in my eyes, and as I was unable to fulfill my dream of going through the juniors a reality for some big reasons, I've always wanted to see a black male win Wimby.

Fish: 15 years ago his game would have been perfect. Great serve, great volleys, and probably he would've been a great dark horse. Can he get past Tsonga first he could do well to get into the semis. Would be great to see someone S&V his way to a Wimbledon final.

Cilic: Where has this guy been? He's got the goods, he just never shows them!

Kohli: I never watch him play, though would be cool with 2 OHBHists fighting for a Wimbledon title for the first time since 2003.

Baker: The people's player really. Like BP said, you and I could've played him in a USTA event, and if he makes the final, they've got to make another tennis movie.

Expect the winner of Tsonga-Fish to make his move in the QF and SF.

This post took me 3 hours to complete... But I want either Tsonga or Murray. Or Baker for the fairytale story now that Roddick's out.

I hope it's Tsonga, but Murray really deserves it and I would happy to see him there too. Anyone else would get stomped, though, and I don't want a boring final.

I guess Del Potro could put up a good fight, but I still don't know how comfortable he is on grass, and he'd have to put in a hell of an effort just to make the final, let alone win it.

lets be real.. Murray and Novak are the future of tennis (if we talk about next 3-4).

Really? A new thread for something this obvious?

Some people are so caught up in the drama they don't see details others miss, Eagle Eyes.

Also, other people are obviously (since apparently we must use that word) enjoying the conversation and have something to say. You don't like it? You don't have to hang out in the thread.

:-?

It's gotta be Murray. If he can't get himself into the final now with Nadal out, he is hopeless.

Nope, don't think Tsonga will make the final. It will be a Djokovic/Murray final or a Federer/Murray final imo.

If it's a Federer murray final, we can celebrate Project XVII from friday onwards. I would be more worried about Federer playing Tsonga than Federer playing Djokovic. I don't intend to say that Federer will beat Djokovic as it could go either way. I feel Tsonga is more dangerous on grass. He breadsticked Rafa last year at Queens

Not really. It's not going to be a beatdown like Rome or a no contest like the FO but this rivalry is going one way fast. It'll be, at most, a 4 set win for Djokovic.
Tsonga is the best player on the other half and I do hope he makes the final. He's my favorite outside of Djokovic so I want him to do well, but if you're gonna win Wimbledon you should have to beat the best. That goes for Djokovic and Tsonga. It'd be a great match, for sure, and the first GS final since 2010's Wimbledon that doesn't feature 2 of the top 4 (top 3 + Murray), I think.

No, you can't think like that. Last I heard from Feather and some buddha, it's a crime to think that if you want Djokovic to win, you can't want Tsonga to be in the final. If you do, you are a troll, a defensive ****, a whatever they want you to be.
