When, oh when, will tennis stop this odd/even draw? This is what can happen, when the semi-finals match is considered the de-facto final. How hard is it to do? Every other sport I can think of has it (assuming the 4 top teams/seeds make it ) 1v4 and 2v3.

I understand that the seeding is "random" but something like 16 of the last 21 GS have had a potential Fed-Dkojer semi while Nadal gets the dud Murray. People have a hard time believing it's random anymore.

Hoping for Roger and Nole seeded No. 1 at the U.S. Open. Their matches have been the best over the past five years. They've met most of the times in the semis (only once in the finals), so it's time for an epic final to see whether Novak can tie the U.S. Open head-to-head at three each. Would be fun for Roger to save match points, then win, too.

It would be nice if Nadal were on Novak's half, but he might not even make the semis if he gets a big hitter.

Hmm....a bit skeptical about your "every other sport" comment, about the top 4.

Can you provide some examples?

I agree that a Federer vs Djokovic final at US Open would be nice but at this stage I would find it hard for Federer to beat Djokovic at the US Open. I mean he will have to play out of his skin as he did vs him at French Open 2011.

IMO Federer has the best chance of beating Djokovic at Wimbledon at this stage in his career. Even though the courts are slower than before, the points are still shorter than other slams.

Hey guess what.
The dud Murray's reached his fourth Wimbledon semi in a row.
Next up Nadal.
Wait a minute...

Well. For once you will get some diversity. As soon as Djokovic and Federer are #1 and #2 before the US Open, we will have a Federer and Nadal half, no matter what their ranking is (and the proponents of "the draw is being made only with the numbers of the seeded players and their names do not mean a thing" theory will have a field day)

Oh, wait .... that is not what you wanted.

Atac. You don't get the irony of the bit in bold?

Not really. It's one tournament where Nadal didn't get to the semis. It's happened in the past with Federer.

But the dud Murray made it through an extremely difficult draw to get to the semis.
The dud Murray has now reached his fourth Wimbledon semi in a row.
I'd like to know your definition of the word dud?
Is it anyone not named Federer, Djokovic or Nadal?

He has also lost his last 3 Wimbledon SFs. And the last 4 SFs he has played in. So he has been a bit of a dud lately in SF matches.

Consider Fed lucky.. He just has to fight a one headed monster now (Djoker).. MUCH easier then a 2 headed one in Nadal and Djoker

Why is it so hard to believe Federer could beat Djokovic at the US Open when he beat him 3 years in a row at the US Open and then had 2 match points against him in each of the past two years? So Federer was a point away from beating Djokovic 5 years in a row at the US Open.

Well now that Fed & Novak will be the top 2 players after Wimbledon, they can ONLY meet in the final now.

Yep, at least until the USO , I think. And after 4 years, my sig finally becomes obsolete , though not because of the right reasons

That was very funny in the context of this thread.
If Murray get's through, who do you think he'll meet?
The dud Djoker or the dud Fed?

Who cares I'm excited about the unprecedented level of dudsmanship we are guaranteed to witness over the next 4 days. It'll reach historical levels of dud only equalled by Becker/Edberg & McEnroe/Borg.
