Rafa is in a happy place. Spain, the greatest team ever in world football. It's official now!

No team has ever won 3 of the big trophies in a row. Deal with it. It will never be seen again.

It not how many consecutive....but how many you have. Spain is way behind Germany and Italy.

Spain Soccer team is boring like Rafael Nadal. Spain passes the ball like 10 times more than a professional soccer team.

International Football sucks a** and has for some time. Them winning these trophies is the equivalent of John Cena being a 10x WWE Champion.

Fact.

Federer said that while his opinion is nothing against Nadal on a personal level, it was good to see that upsets are still possible.

"I think 15 years ago you had matches like this so much more often on the faster surfaces, that a guy could catch fire and just run through you," Federer said. "Today it's virtually impossible because you make so many more returns these days and conditions are so much slower with the elements. Whereas it was just amazing to see that it was possible. Okay, he didn't play like that for five sets, but in the fifth it was just a joke. I was laughing because of his performance for 10 minutes after that. I couldn't believe that he pulled it off the way he did. Of course I do feel bad for Rafa because it's a tough loss; it's Wimbledon; it's the way things happen."

Shouldnt Fed be more classy ?

Before we launch a Fed vs Nadal vs Djoko war, please think how the forum would react if Novak or Nadal had said 'It is good to see an upset' if Fed lost to Julien B ?

Roger is just ticked off and envious because Rafa broke Borg's record which he won't be able to do.:)

We could make this better if Rafa's hissy fit about Rosol was added before this:)

No way, Italy is above Spain. Italy didn't deserve to be in the final by beating Germany. I admit I am being biased here :) They really plated better than Germany THAT night. It was just one bad day at office for Germans. You accept it or not Germany and Spain are the best teams in the world. Germany is a new team with whole lot of youngsters. With experience they are gonna thrash all teams. Spain is successful but I don't think they play attractive football. Again, that's purely subjective. Their style entertain only their fans not a guy like me who is a fan of attacking football. Germany is such a delight to watch. They play entertaining soccer. Mezut Ozil is an artist. He is too good and the best part is he is too young.

When RN wins the WTF people can start thinking about goat status. Don't say the year end finals are unimportant, because it is obvious Nadal tanked at Wimbledon, knowing he had qualified. The cut was 6745 and a loss in R32 at WO leaves Nadal on 6840.

I suspect he is just going to practice indoors now until November, and miss the USO.

I mean, why else would he have allowed himself to get mown down by Rosol? I can lip read and saw Nadal say to Rosol when he bumped him that it didn't matter as he was going to the WTF and Rosol wasn't.

Seriously, there hasn't been any great footballers for at least 10 years.

So sad.

Nostalgiatards, the worst kind of ****s.

What the hell do you call guys like Messi or Xavi? Average football players? Even that twat Ronaldo is a massive talent.

Buffon and Casillas will go down as legends, two of the best goalies I have ever seen and I'm not just talking this tourney.

Guys like Gerard,Lampard(even though he didn't play) are amazing players. I could give out at least a dozen players that will be fondly remembered as legends once they retire.

There are a couple of players in the Spanish squad that have played and won 2 Euro championships and one World Cup. That is absolutely massive for any player.

While there may be better teams as far as historical achievements go(Brazil,Italy,Germany have more WC), Spain 2008-2012 is in the top 5 for me as far as game and results are concerned. Some dislike their passing but they don't exactly pass in their own half, they bring the game to you and there is something to be said about a team that doesn't let you touch the ball. In fact the spaniards want to drible the ball right in the goal, they were accused that they don't shoot much on goal, unless they are very close.

Italy were outstanding against Germany but there was a 2-3 minute interval in the match yesterday, near the Italian own goal where they simply couldn't touch the ball because of the fast triangles the spaniards were doing. Italy alreadly looked pretty tired but having to run after the ball for most of this match meant that they had to work even harder. And after they were in 10 since the 60th minute or so, they were royally f**ked.

I just have to say that the tehnical level for most of the spaniards in the national team is absolutely outstanding. Most usually play the ball very well with both feet(including crosses), they rarely miss passes(even long ones), they know how to use their body to protect the ball and their general touch on the ball is exquisite.

It's not wrong to say that because Fed said it, but had Rafa or Novak said that if Fed lost then this place would explode.

THe problem is Rafa fans can accept the loss and move on, the guy was just playing waaaaaayyyyyy above his ranking he was in god mode in the fifth. Sure Rafa should've played better earlier on but it shouldn't surprise anyone that even the very best players can have an off day and when that happens against someone having their best day, the result is obvious.

Had Fed lost, the excuses would've come pouring in, Fed's got a bad back, Fed's got mono, Fed's chest hairs were causing him discomfort...

There would be something don't worry about that.

Well I didn't join immediately I browsed for a while lol. Anyway doesn't eliminate the facts that that's typical ******* behaviour. I had a lengthy discussion with Mandy and she (assuming since mandy is a girl's name) seemed to find an excuse for nearly every single Fed loss in the past whether it was mono, decline etc.

Well, is it not reasonable that if a high ranked player loses to a much lower ranked player, or one he regularly beats then there could be reasons on the side of the higher ranked player.

e.g. if Soderling beats Nadal and then goes down to Fred, one would be quite reasonable in assuming that Nadal had a problem, than that Soderling was having a superior season. Especially, if Nadal does not appear at WO after that.

Or if Nadal loses to Ferrer at AO, someone he has never (or almost) lost to.

Now Federer had a poor season by his standards in 2008 after which he did come back. Does it make more sense that everyone who beat him during that period suddenly became better for a few months, and then they all declined, or that just he was affected by an illness (for which he was hospitalized in January).

However, people like you like to see things through one lens for your favorite player, and another lens for another player. The other player is "not giving credit" if he claims illness/injury.

Benny is not a nobody who was hitting 100MPH winners off both wings to a dazed Nadal who couldn't figure out wtf was happening. Big difference.

If Fed and Novak and everyone else learned anything is that they should attach the heck out of Rafa's serve and dance around while he's wasting time picking his butt. Let him waste all that time trying to serve and then put his serve back and bouncing off the back wall before he even lands back down from his service push. $20 says he'll be thinking about that instead during his next service ritual. Keep doing it and you got him.

Rafa seems to turn into a punching bag. The hard part though is getting him to swing like one first. If you can do that, he's toast. Fed proved it earlier this year and Rosol proved it last week.

Notice all the hands going up, and people jumping with joy on that last point ! Who would have imagined the entire CC wanted that result :shock:

After 5 sets of Rafa serving , they are happy they are finally going home before they get declared missing persons:)

How do you think Fed would have done against Rosol?
Honestly, at worst dropped a set and then figured a way out. Fred has too many tools in his tool box for Rosol. However, it's hypothetical, he could have fared just as badly, we'll never know.

SexiRogi laughing at Nadal's loss is totally understandable -- after all, Rosol did him a huge favour by eliminating the only player who makes the old fart's testicles shrink and shrivel in a best-of-five Slam match.

I took what he said to mean things can be unpredictable in Slams and that’s what makes them exciting to watch.

Believe me, every player still alive in the Wimbledon draw was thanking their lucky stars that Nadal was facing Rosol on that day.

The question is not "how do you think X player would have done against Rosol?"

The question is "how badly do you think Rosol would have beaten X player on that day?"

The score of any match against Rosol could be debated. But the outcome could not be debated. Rosol was not losing to any player on that day.

p!ss off.

Rosol is not God.

He was merely serving well for a few sets, and exposed Nadal's sh!tty returning ability.

Also he was able to tee off on Nadal's loopy balls because of his height. A smarter player would have sliced and used junk to throw him off, and attacked when given the chance, either by hitting a hard flat shot or by coming to net.

Federer , Djokovic and maybe even Murray could have gotten the job done in 4.

Gulbis also had one of those silly day against Berdych. He would have possibly taken out anyone in the draw that day.

mightyrick may have been exaggerating a little, but there's no doubt that when some players redline, it takes the other guy doing the same thing to pull out a win. Rosol was playing as well as he possibly could have, and Nadal wasn't. A subpar Fed/Djoker/Murray would have probably lost as well, a testament to how little really separates these guys in the grand scheme of things.

Agree with some of the other posters.

There is no questioning that Rosol played out of his mind, but part of it is also the match up that allowed him the chance to play out of his mind.

It would be a completely different game if he were to play someone else like Federer, who has much more variety and can keep the ball much lower with his slices. Rosol probably wouldn't have been able to blast winners quite the same way on those low balls.

It's impossible to know how it would have played out if Rosol played other players that day, but it's not a guarantee the result would have been the same.

you mean like berdych and tsonga wouldve nuked nadal on the days they took out fed in 2010 and 11?

Federer's point is very valid. When courts were faster, upsets like this were more common. Slower surfaces act as an equalizer and certainly have helped Nadal more than other top 4.

Federer has had this happen to him. Tsonga caught fire and took him out last year in the QF. Tsonga is a far better player than Rosol but Tsonga usually goes through a few patches where he is inconsistent - makes silly mistakes going for too much. In last year's QF, it was like Tsonga just went all out on his serve and FH in the last 3 sets and made practically no errors.

Berdych has done it to Federer before too.

So, it happens still in todays game but not as much as 8+ years ago when grass played like grass and USO was faster.

No.

Rosol had days to prepare for his groundstrokes and serves. He played no different against Kohlschreiber the next day but was completely flat out beaten because Kohlschreiber has more variety and can take time away from Rosol unlike Nadal.
