Djokovic splits with Sergio Tacchini

Evidently you don't either, as you've said that the stuff they'd sell wouldn't "be full of logos like the other sports wear companies", and that "Nishikori shirts with Uniqlo logos are not featured in their web store", yet we have a link with Nishikori shirts being sold with logos and more logos on them than Adidas and Nike, but please continue with your expert analysis on the brand.

Read my post from above. I already acknowledged it. I go to the Uniqlo all the time, even the ones in Japan. They DO NOT sell those in the store until recently they did this on line exclusive and JAPAN ONLY. They did a small batch in the Ginza store but no longer available.

SO don't pretend you know a lot coz if you go to the uniqlo stores you won't see those items. And definitely no logos on any of the sports wear.

BUT I am not saying they would not change this marketing strategy for the Djoker line.

The only one pretending to know a lot is you, I have common sense, which is why I questioned your silly statement regarding not selling shirts "full of logos", and you then pretended to know that they didn't sell Nishikori shirts with logos "in their web store in japan at all", yet now we know that's not true, so perhaps you should take your own advice and quit pretending you know the brand, what they sell, etc.
Funny, you remind me of someone else who pretends to know a lot, until it's proven otherwise.

Oh, I just noticed it: they use Adidas footwear for mannequin, does it mean they have some agreement with them?

And I am curious if they planning to sign female player...

Uh-o, now I get it. It was a conspiracy when Nole signed with them:confused:

Seriously, Uniqlo probably tried to cast the same image from the promo pics to their mannequins, who knows?

Wow, call me crazy, but it looks like I could just walk right in and buy Nishikori shirts with logos all over them, in fact, it looks like I could meet Nishikori himself, good to know. Oh and I better hurry, it looks like a "small batch", lol.

Would be great if uniqlo can become a legit #3 to Nike and Adidas. Reebok, UA and others never got much of a tennis market and Lacoste, Fila, ST and others seem to be content in their small niche of the market.

That shop is the Ginza Street Market aka fashion district Japan...Obviously it'll have the line.

Wish the novak stuff makes its way to the states though

Lacoste niche?????? Your joking right......Lacoste a global brand with their own stores in just about every major city in the world and sold in every major dept store like Macys, Primtemps...etc, they have outlet stores in Europe and the USA, production facilities in South America, Asia, Africa and Europe. Lacoste I bet sells more of the RL12 shirts in just one day then what all of Uniqlo sells totally in all of their shops combined in a month. On tour you have at least 10 men in he top 100 (top 50 Raonic, Isner, Gasquet, Benneteau, Llodra) wearing Lacoste and even more on the women's side.

What, and Fila is not a global brand? Puma? Sergio Tachini? Wilson? Hell, even Reebok, as far as tennis is concerned, is niche. Perhaps, Lacoste has a larger share of the market than some of the others I mentioned (perhaps not, I don't know) but they're still very much a niche brand, as is, of course, Uniqlo. Tennis is dominated by Nike and Adidas, and all I was saying is that it would be nice for a #3 to join their company. I highly doubt Lacoste will be that #3, but perhaps Uniqlo can get there. I always figured Reebok would take a larger chunk of the market, but that didn't happen either.

I'll concede that Lacoste is probably #3 right now, and certainly in Europe, as in America almost nobody plays with Lacoste. In '86, when I left Germany, Adidas was already starting to corner the local market, so I'm sure their foothold has only gotten stronger.

Novak's Uniqlo gear is available!

UNIQLO Launches Latest Line of Tennis Apparel in the U.S.

http://www.prnewswire.com/news-rele...67031885.html?utm_expid=43414375-18&ispopup=y

Today UNIQLO announces plans to launch its latest line of tennis apparel modeled after performance wear created for Novak Djokovic, world top-ranked male professional tennis player and UNIQLO global brand ambassador. The line will launch in the United States on August 27 and in other markets around the world at a later date, details of which will be announced in due course. In the U.S. the new range will go on sale at the UNIQLO 5th Avenue Store, the 34th Street Store and the Soho Store in New York City.

UNIQLO, the proud sponsor of Mr. Djokovic since May, will launch a total of 10 items for adults, ranging from warm up jackets and pants, to shirts, shorts and accessories. The tennis line will closely resemble the look and feel of the actual performance wear that Mr. Djokovic will wear at the 2012 U.S. Open Tournament that starts at Flushing Meadows, New York, on August 27.

# The list of price, colors and material of each item is on the linked page above.

Reminds me of the ST outfit from last year's USO. So far, all of these Uniqlo outfits looks the same to me. I want something bold, something new.

Weird how he had a great year with ST and has not been as successful since the switch. Same as Mac in 84, then switched to Nike and didnt really follow it up.

Looks nice though.

Which means that that the clothes sold in the stores won't be exactly the same as the stuff that Djokovic actually wears. I'd bet the clothes that Djokovic actually wears is of much higher quality and is custom made and fitted for him.

^^ Yeah, likely to be true.

The Uniqlo logo also looks bigger on the retail clothing, I would've highly preferred it to be smaller like on Novak's clothing.

Am disappoint, was planning on picking up the FO stuff too, but it's unlikely now.

About the last part, it has to be I think. Novak has a very distinctive body type, far from standard proportions. I doubt there are many people who can wear what they make for him.

But don't forget that UNIQLO is a Japanese company and its clothes are originally made for the Japanese market so I'm sure the sizes are much smaller and their fit is tighter, slimmer, and smaller than the typical clothes made for the American market. Of course, UNIQLO probably has to make its clothes much bigger for the American market to fit American body types but I have no doubt Djokovic could fit into the clothes made for the Japanese market.

Asians may be slimmer and smaller(Isn't Novak tall?) but I'm not sure about the length. Shirt could be fine, since they tend to have longer torso. Shorts are different story. Anyway people wouldn't care if the size/fitting is exactly the same with what he wears as long as the clothes fit them.

if anybody lives in NYC, I can pay you to pick up gear for me and ship it. PM me.

You would think that Uni isn't going to go the ST route and make this stuff practically unavailable, which if they were only selling it in NYC is exactly what it would be.

And where is that clown with the theory of them selling clothes without logos, the logos on these shirts are massive, much more obnoxious than pretty much any brand out there.

I wear a lot of Uniqlo stuff for tennis and the gym. It is pretty reasonable quality for the price, and pretty functional. The sizes run smaller than equivalent brands but not significantly so. I dont think we will be able to buy the kit Djokovic actually wears. The marketing says no more than that the new line "closely resembles" what Djokovic will wear. In the Oxford Street flagship store in London the staff say that Djokovic has his clothes specially made for him but that new lines will be made available to the public as Uniqlo develops its sportswear line.

Wait... you mean I was right again. :p

Saw some of this stuff in Singapore a couple of weeks ago. Pretty boring gear imo.

Djokovic's upper legs are massive - shoulders are pretty wide too.

How was the weather in the Sing? Let me guess: it was hot and humid and in the afternoon the sky turned purple and it poured for 20 minutes then cleared up.

How's the view from the deck of the Marina Bay Sands?

Ha ha.. hot as hell as always. I was travelling from Melbourne so the disparity in temp was particularly big. Going from 10 to 30 degrees (approx 50 to 86 in fahrenheit). I wanted to hit some balls but couldn't find anyone to hit with.

I haven't been up the MBSs the last couple of visits. Maybe it's just me but places like that get boring pretty quickly.

Next time you go let me know - I know someone who knows someone.

Once is probably enough. I just haven't been there since '06 - might go in Nov since I'll be on that side of the Pacific. But will probably chicken out and just go to HK - weather there is perfect in Nov.

Lacoste is definitely not a niche brand in any way, if Lacoste is a niche brand then so is Ralph Lauren....and well almost every self respecting gentlemen has a piece of Ralph Lauren in their closet.
