Yonex truly makes the best racquets .
but why cant they do a better paint job ?
Why not blue or purple colours ?

Vcores with Xi shapes??

Success to happen, because the Ezone Xis are very good, I liked the Xi shape much better, just bigger sweet spot, I liked the Xi 100 over Vcore 100S, Xi 98 was very nice too, but felt very heavy.

VCore Xi 100?? I'll be on the line to try this one.

I agree, blue it had to be.

I didn't like the VCores paint job, I love the vcore tour though, that is very beautiful, and I like the Ezone Xi.

I was about to buy the RDiS 200 Lite ( I think it is beautiful) but I will have to wait for the vcore 100 xi, or whatever they call it.

Hi,

how does the racquet play compared to the 98D? Is the mold the same?

The mold isn't the same, the mold has the Xi shape now, the pics show it, obviously they will play differently because it also has the micro core, but we have to see how much different.

I will be looking at the VCore 100S Xi .

What are the specs of this and when will it be for sale...?

Based on this thread (pics more importantly), a little research shows this 98D's specs is exactly the same, only difference being the introduction on Xi and Micro Core, I'm already expecting they to play differently. My interest will be on the 100S

Yonex told me they would be considered minor uodates when i emailed about 2013.

right, the pics shoe micro core and Xi head shape, specs still the same.

people are raving about the micro core on the Vcore tours, now it will be on regular vcores with Xi, as I thought the xi was better than vcore, vcore+xi = me demoing at least and then deciding.

The 95 will be interesting with the squarer frame.

I'm not sure I read TWU data correctly but it seems to indicate the usual Yonex hoop has a rather narrow sweetzone.

Its team champs time here, i try to avoid testing new racqs. I only hit with this frame for 5 mins.. All i can say is that it feels flexy, has lowish power and good feel of the ball. The sweetspot felt big and consistent.

Then how come the old two-tone grommets fit the new ones?

It makes the 98 seem like a potential replacement for the rdis 200 now..at least worth a demo.

But ill probably just pass and see what comes out next from yonex in 13/14.

So the Vcore Xi 98 replaces the Vcore 98D?
It was my understanding that the Ezone Xi 98 is being replaced by the Vcore Xi 98.

I heard from one of the Yonex (UK) reps through a source that " the Ezones will be staying the same and the Vcore Xi will be new with micro core tech. Vcore97 also staying the same" Not sure if the Vcore will be available in the 100" head as well as 98 but will have to wait and see. Like Tistra it would be the Vcore Xi 100 that would really appeal to me. played a thin beam 98" for a long time and not ashamed to admit that I play more consistently with a wider beamed 100".

Someone noted somewhere that Wozniacki was using the vcore 100 XI
in Japan. Can't tell for sure.

Guys, they are just doing minor updates to certain racquets. It doesn't mean they will not make a new 95. These are just considered minor updates by yonex.

Never done them but based on the specs they are lot lighter then the XI98 i use now, always liked the lighter racquets. Also since lighter gonna be little tough for power players but amazing for maneuverability.

The xi98 i have is pretty nice and doesn't feel all that heavy anymore. But nothing definite can be said until its out for demo

are the vcore's more rounded than the Xi's?

They're more isometric - 'squarer'. "Xi" stands for "eXtra Isometric," Yonex's claim-to-fame by making the shape of the racquet accommodate more playable mains and crosses in the sweetspot.

I was sort of expecting that as well but the new VCore Xi 100 doesn't show that at all (Yonex.com). Seems to be the same shape as the VCore 100S.

Of course I was talking about the 100s. But I'm looking at the 98 and I don't notice any shape either. I am currently demoing the VCore 98D.

they're only adding the microcore thingy to the 100 and 98. then they'll make the 100 in two versions - a light and a "non-light."

i'm not sure either why they used the xi in the naming of the line. for one, as pointed above, the shapes aren't any different. whereas if you compare the ezone xi with the ezone, the shape is obviously different. the site also explicitly says that the ezone xi uses the extra isometric shape. but for the vcore xi, the yonex site itself does not specify the extra isometric shape on this line. it sticks to calling the head shape isometric, not extra isometric.

I have been hitting with these new frames for about a week now. The specs from the 3 frames I tried are identical to the previous models. The Moulds seem to be exactly the same , however they all play much smoother with less vibration and more feel. The 98D which for me was the perfect Spec'd frame for my style of play was too stiff and jarring but like magic these ill effects are not apparent in the new 98 Vcore Xi. It still offers a firm response with good pop and I would say above average control. I consider this frame to be a true "Tweener". I'm still hitting with the 100s 300g and so far its been very pleasurable , kind like a pure drive without the woofer mushiness.
