NEW YORK -- Lance Armstrong's results erased from the record books will likely include his 2006 and 2007 New York City Marathon results as well as his 2008 Boston Marathon result, according to reports.

Hey Fast Freddie: guess what Lance Armstrong and your avatar have in common? They BOTH cheated ;-)

It says alot when the current Tour de France champion decides to support his team mate in next years competition over going for the win himself.

He's perfect for the sport, just what it needs at this time.

It's sad that Lance is getting all this heat after thinking about it objectively.

Athletes have been doping in every major sport for years.

Do you think female bodybuilders get man chins from lifting weights? How do they compete in sanctioned events? Someone poast a pic to prove my point.

I'm starting to think Lance is being unfairly vilianized knowing full well there are thousands of pro NFL and MLB players that have gotten away with it for years and no one really cares.

I just LOL at Lance for denying it all these years. It's just a joke now. But it's unfair knowing its pretty rampant in all sports.

He still sorta seems slimey but something seems fishy about the while thing. I hope more whistleblowers step forward in other sports.

Well, many many would argue that Froome was stronger than Bradley this year. If Froome was given the go ahead to ride for the win he would have done so no problem. Honestly, it was quite silly seeing Froome given the go ahead to hunt for a stage win, only to be called back because Wiggins was struggling.

Even worse, last year at the Vuelta, Team Sky put all of their eggs in the Wiggins basket basically until the final few stages. Froome had been in support of Wiggins the whole race, but when Cobo turned it on, Wiggins couldn't follow. Despite Froome even holding the leaders jersey at one point in the race, they still were going with Wiggins. Sky ended up finishing with Froome at 2nd and Wiggins 3rd instead of Froome taking the overall victory.

Bradley also said he's going to target the Giro next year. Realistically speaking, this greatly reduces his chance at winning the tour. It's a no brainer to say he'll support Froome. Froome had two amazing opportunities to win a grand tour, opportunities he might not have in the future. Bradley really owes him something.

And don't talk about him like the sport "needs" him. Seems like just a few weeks ago he was praising Lance, now he's completely changed the tune. It also doesn't help when he blasts anyone in the media referring to possible doping at Sky. That's the Lance approach...

The difference bewtween Lance and any regular MLB or NFL guy is that lance spent years threatinging legal action on any and all people who said anything. He strongly denied any accustation and backed it up with legal action. Im not sure of any other athelete who so aggresivly went after those that accused him.

A-Rod was all like "I'm sorry for taking them, but I was trying to heal"

Bonds was like "I never took them so take me court, its still not proven he actually did"

Clemens was like bonds, but with more first person testimony. Yet still never actually tested.

The guys that get popped now in MLB just serve the suspensions and hopefully come back.

Shawne Merriman served his 4 game suspension and won the defense MVP.

Lance threatened poeple carrers to keep the machine going and the cash flowing. He operated at a different level than anyone else (at least from what we know).

Do the crime, do the time.

All of these lance conspiracy theory/woe is me posts are just a crock. Dude made hundreds of millions all based upon a LIE.

You sound just like lance: he says he gained no unfair advantage: he shouldn't be punished since everyone else cheated too.

This clown is talking out of both sides of his mouth: he says he never failed a test, but then says he gained "no unfair advantage."

He's made hundreds of millions of dollars, but finds it "difficult" when his cheating is exposed.

Too. F'ing. Bad.

It's time for lance and his apologist fanboys to finally put on their big boy pants and own up to the truth.

Greg is one of the few sane voices in all of professional cycling. Which is why he is thoroughly marginalized now.

Pro cycling is going to go the way of women's roller derby; a semi-legitimate clown sport which attracts a couple of dozen trashy rednecks and old school diehards.

Professional bowling is probably bigger than cycling now.

There's been no serious query about last year's or this year's Tour de France so things have significantly improved.

The Tour De France is a total joke. Has been ever since it started. The problem is with the difficulty of the race. Basically, in the beginning, riders doped up to ease the pain associated with doing that much cycling. Then it transformed into actually trying to go faster.

But even as recently as 2007, Contador was caught doping. I honestly think that everybody that does that race is doped to some degree.

Its OK for 75% of all pro athletes to dope but its not OK for Lance.

Alrighty then.

Lance made $100 million dollars + by maintaining the fiction that he wasn't doping, while at the same time doping himself, facilitating and encouraging doping by his teammates, and intimidating journalists and fellow cyclists to prevent information on the extent of doping from emerging.

If Lance was just an average joe trying to keep up with everybody, that would be one thing. He pretty clearly wasn't.

Lance is slime, yes.

But I just think that there are THOUSANDS of millionaire pro athletes freaking out that they may be outed too.

Its just lame that one guy is being totally toasted for something THOUSANDS of other millionaire athletes have been doing for YEARS.

What about all the fake Protein powder companies saying you can get muscles from their products?

Joe Wieder is a much, MUCH bigger fraud than Lance.

He's made BILLIONS from his fake products for decades. All of the Muscle BS industry has been duping consumers for decades with PED FED models on magazine covers for YEARS.

Just sayin', there is a massive amount of hypocrisy going on with this.

Lance is not the only guilty PED slime bag in the sports world.

There are MANY.

Have you read the secret race all about how they injected the roids and blood transfusions. All the steroid use is there in the book. They were probably more serious or just as serious as Mark McGuire and those guy were with injecting the hormones into their bloodstreams. Lance probably would have lost without them. He did loose that one thing though.

From what I've heard though, it wasn't just Lance, but about 95% of the racers. So why don't those guys get DQ'd too? Maybe we can just say that there was no Tour from 1999-2005?

There was a tour between those years, but there is now no winner.

Armstrong was the leader of the biggest drug taking ring on the tour.

Its not surprising that he became the target for anti-drug authorities.

Just thought I'd back this truck up and revisit this topic... Esp regarding the topic of Armstrong's massive PR machine which swiped and character assassinated basically anyone who dared accuse him of impropriety.
....There was no PR machine at all...

Read this article.. from paragraph 4 on this page (page 2). An sick insight into how Armstrong approached any potential criticism.

By comparison, the Michael J. Fox Foundation had similar revenue to Livestrong in 2008 - $40 million - and gave away $33 million of that in grants for Parkinson's research. That PR machine has done a good job huh!

Lance is now going to admit to doping. All of his idiot fanboys will still claim he didn't dope. SMH

Let me guess what Lance will say.
I’m so sorry for lying and cheating to your faces all these years. I made a mistake and deserve a second chance. It’s just business nothing personal.
Despite what I’ve done I gave you something to cheer for and feel good about yourself. Didn’t I? I gave my fans and the cancer patients a ride of their life.
But hey, can we get past that now? I’m still a great sportsman and your hero, remember? Don’t forget to give your support and send more money my way. I’ll find different ways to be your hero again.

Sincerely Yours,

L. A.

We love our hero's........but love to hate our fallen hero's even more. Build 'em up and tear 'em down.

Wonder what will happen when Alabama gets put on probation (gasp).

Or if the NFL (or ATP, etc) decides to crack down on "performance enhancing drugs" like cycling or MLB did.

Anyway, it gives everyone something to talk about (see "Gerede" and Heidegger).

I disagree. We love our heros and dont want them to be proven as frauds. You think sportsfans dont still love Walter Payton, Dick Butkus, Earl Campbell, Joe Montana, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Mickey Mantle, Sandy Koufax and so many others. We dont like tearing them down unless they show that our rooting for them and idolizing them was a total sham.

Tygart on Armstrong:

'Tygart said Armstrong had been tipped off by Swiss drug testing laboratory director Martial Saugy about how to beat the erythropoietin (EPO) test in 2002 after one of Armstrong's samples from the 2001 Tour of Switzerland was described as "suspicious."

"Saugy sat down next to me and said, 'Travis, in fact, there were samples from Lance Armstrong that indicated EPO use'," Tygart told CBS television's 60 Minutes Sports.

"As far as we are aware, (it is) totally inappropriate to bring in an athlete who had a suspicious test and explain to them how the test works."

The Swiss lab chief also told Tygart that the International Cycling Union (UCI) had asked him to hold an unprecedented meeting with Armstrong and his former manager Johan Bruyneel to explain the EPO testing process.

Tygart said six of Armstrong's samples taken during his first Tour de France win in 1999 eventually tested positive.

The samples were originally reported as negative but they were re-tested in 2005.

"All six were flaming positive," Tygart said.'

Everyone is blind if they think this is an isolated incident. The Balco issue from a few years back had a client list that was hundreds of pages long may of whom were professional athletes. Most professional sports are doped, cycling is very bad. We need to find a way to limit the impact or to make it fair. Until we do, the cheaters will always be one step ahead of the testers. Personally I don't care what people take as long as the option is available to everyone competing and nothing is given to minors.

Unfortunately he is bound to make excuses for himself, which is both normal and necessary, but this will simply lead to more criticism.

I can't see him admitting it... Appearances on Oprah are notoriously interviewee friendly to the point they will even pre-vet questions that'll be asked. I think we might see Armstrong using his interview as a re-confirmation of his steadfast denials. The legal liabilities he would open himself up for if he admitted it all would apparently be significant.
