Wilson BLX Juice 100?

uncooling

Semi-Pro
Has anyone tried this one out before, or owns this?

It looks pretty light for a 100 raquet (11.3 strung)

But the swingweight is only 311.

Any thoughts on this one?

thanks :)

It's a very good racket; I played with it for some time, but I had to let it go as I was not able to find the right string set-up. I think this racket plays very well with full poly at high tensions, eg 56 lbs at least. Unfortunately I was not able to play with such a set-up, having had a sore elbow for some years now, :(

no dont do it. if anything get the steam. swings much easier through air. juice100 is too wobbly. i got a new one, put it down after less than 2 weeks. havent touched it since

Juice 100

Different strokes for different folks.

I have two of them. The first time I hit with one, I loved it. Has high stiffness numbers, but is not harsh at all on the arm. Don't know what wobbly means, but whatever the Juice is doing, it is not from a lack of stiffness.

My suggestion is demo one.

If you do decide to try one long term, my favorite combo thus far is the Wilson Champions Choice 16 gut mains at 48 and ALU rough crosses at 46. Lots of power and for me decent control.

Your mileage may vary. Batteries not included.

The Juice100 isn't wobbly at all. It has an RA of 72. It plays solid and stiffish, though never uncomfortable.

And if you have trouble swinging a racquet with a 311g SW through the air, the only thing wobbly must your arms (which is probably why you keep on hitting the ball into the ceiling, into the net etc, in those 3.0 videos you keep on posting).

The Juice100 swings very, very easily.

Not judging anything here (haven't played with the racket) but, to me, wobbly would imply lack of rotational inertia - no mass resisting off-center hits. The old PWS system was supposed to give more mass off-center to resist twisting.

Lead tape 3/9. $4.

That's what I do anyway if I had the J100. There's also a thread on that anyway.

Both of you post videos here, and let us decide lol.

i posted plenty. one of them is over 40min long. he has yet to post 1 second. do a search i am lazy

(just to be sure, i never claimed to be better than 3.0. look up my posts.) hence why i posted in the tips section to get tips and feedback. unlike some people who just go around making idotic comments and....dont back up anything they claim

This.

Not sure how Wilson managed to release such a great racket in one of the most torsionally unstable configurations I've ever hit with in stock form, but a $2 pack of lead and a few grams at 3&9 fixes it right up. After that, its an awesome frame.

agree that the Juice is awesome with some lead at 3/9.

the Juice is also one of the top selling racquets worldwide the past 6 month's, so lots of people seem to like it. It's not "wobbly" at all....especially with lead. This is one of the most user friendly sticks you can buy. If you can't play with this one, it's time to take up another sport.

so both of you say how nice the juice is, yet both of you say you should slap some lead on it. funny stuff lol

Hit with it 3X as a demo and really liked it and wanted to love it but my elbow ached after each hitting session. 72 stiffness rating and I believe it. Of course, one could change strings and/or tension and probably take care of that problem.

what does that have to do with anything? 90% of Pros customize their racquets with lead....is that funny too?

FINALLY going to be checking out the Juice 100 this week, and as Jack and Ray are advising above, I'm thinking I'll almost certainly put some lead on right from the get go.

My APD Originals have a small amount of lead @ 12 and that amount X 2 on b/cap. Think I'll put similar lead amount and at same locations on the J100, but also at 3 and 9.

I'm looking forward to this as the frame has been on my list for an awfully long time.

Ross, you will have the PD to compare as well, being sent today. No lead on it but I liked it mostly stock and with 5g right at the top of the handle and 2g at 12 to raise the SW a little.

Thanks Jim, look forward to it.

I keep thinking I don't need lead at all really (not when players a zillion times better than me don't need it), and I think it swings a bit more fluently minus lead, but I'm sort of used to the APD/O leaded up a bit.

With my mods I'm in the region of 330 SW. I do notice a little more solidness in the hoop too. When I recently played an old PD Team, even with 2g @ 12 (and 4g in b/cap), it felt less solid in the hoop compared to my APD/O, which makes me think I'll probably want to put lead on the PD @ 3 and 6 or 10 and 2 as well... or maybe I should have just gone down the PDR route instead?

I don't think the PDR is the answer, for me anyway. Too unwieldy at net for quick doubles exchanges. The PD is very quick at net and a little lead just firms it up a touch without unduly changing it. Pd standard is plenty solid and a big improvement on previous versions I have tried.

I have now put a little lead on the KI5 just to see if it raises the sweet spot a bit, it feels slightly dead in the upper hoop. Also strung it up with a Klip Legend/Cyberflash combo last night which I am sure will help. Tempted by Polybreak too now but need to stay away from full poly for a while. Hope you like the black Energy that's in the PD.

I wanted to put one in with my last batch of demos, but I heard some rumors that it is sooooo powerful that they are going to make it illegal.....I don't want to fall in love with a Raquet that is going to get banned...I don't even know a language other than English for when the camera crews show up.

Actually their stupid marketing made me not want to try it....the people I play with would give me no end of grief if ended up playing with one.

Weight/swingweight of a frame is mostly a personal preference, its about whether it fits well with your strokes & game. Your weight & SW are in the middle range and nothing extreme. I don't think you have to worry about going lighter if you're comfortable with a litte more weight. Lighter may be fine if you have the really fast swings and timing for it, but if it doesn't your game it might actually be more difficult to use.

I often have a much harder time adjusting to frames that are too light, than to heavier frames. I either end up swinging too fast, or if my timing is fine I get tired much faster from having to swing extra hard and fast to generate the same pace as normally I would with a higher SW frame.

The Juice 100 is just too light stock to be 6 pts headlite. The lead at 3/9 brings it down to about 4 pts HL and gets the swingweight to where it doesn't feel too whippy. It also puts more mass behind the ball and just feels more solid.
