Welcome to the final edition of the 2012 ATP Sudden Death League: World Tour Finals!

Rules of the game:

1. Every day of the tournament that day's matches will be posted. You pick one player who you think is going to win. It's a knock out-system: if the player you picked wins, you're through to the next round. If he loses, you're out.

2. Players pick you have to pick one player per Round Robin. In the semis and finals you pick one player per round.

3. During the round robin portion of the event, you can only pick a player ONCE. However, during the semi-finals, you can choose any player you want, even if you chose him previously in the round robin portion of the event. Obviously it's important to make smart choices in order to get far. If you somehow have no players left to pick, you're out as well.

4. You can't pick a player from a match that has started already.

5a. If the player you picked retires during the match, you're out. If he retires before the match, you're allowed to change your pick.

5b. If the opponent of the player you picked retires, it counts like a win. However, you can't pick a player whose opponent had already retired from the tournament.

6. If you want to change you pick, make a new post quoting the old pick. Edited posts containing picks will not be taken into account.

It's just going to be impossible to defend last year's final because the OOP for tomorrow is ridiculous. And well, it boiled down to pure luck, which you don't get with the top 8.

It depends which way Jay tries to play this.

If it Option 2. You just have to make 5 picks total. Which would mean 1 pick from Monday or Tuesday. The Monday matches are tough and unrealistic....we will see.

Only Option 3...will screw all of us over....it not even remotely possible to win with option.

Need to make a pick now since I'm not gonna be online for awhile, however the option of this SDL is not clear yet.

If we're going for option #1, then Day 1 Djokovic

For option #2, are we still allowed to choose a player in the SF/F that we chose in the RR, if so then I'll stick with Djokovic, if not I'll go with Ferrer.

Not sure what option #3 is, isn't it the same as option #1?

In Option 2, if you choose a player in the Round Robin, you would not be able to re-use him for the Semis or Final. This is to keep it challenging since you'd only need to make 3 RR picks.

Option 3 is slightly different from #1 in that with Option 3 you would not be able to re-use a RR pick for the Semis or Final. However, this option is quite stupid since that would require picking 8 different players to win, which is practically impossible (usually 1 or 2 players go 0-3 in the RR).

For idea 2 you would be able to reuse a round robin pick for the semis onwards as far i understand it.

No, that is incorrect. That is only for idea number 1. For idea number 2, it is like the format we use when we are picking players based on rounds.

Option 2 is not the final decision. Once it reaches 9PM EST, then that will be the option to go with at that point in time (the poll is set to close tomorrow, but I am going with the decision from 9PM tonight).

If people cannot wait until 9PM EST, then they may go ahead to make a pick based on idea #1 or idea #2.

Okay folks. The polls are closed. Based on the results of the poll, the majority has chosen idea #1.

So please use this as the OoP for Monday's matches:

[3] A Murray (GBR) vs. [5] T Berdych (CZE)
[1] N Djokovic (SRB) vs. [7] JW Tsonga (FRA)

Is there a seperate thread for the top 8 who qualified to enter who are we automotically included in that bonus event and how does it work? :)

There won't be a separate thread for the Top 8. For the Top 8, it is going to be a bonus pool for the players were they can earn an additional 500-750 ranking points. The format will be based on rounds (idea #2) since the majority of the players wanted idea #1 for the non-bonus portion of the event.

Most likely I am leaning towards one of the following:

Bonus Idea #1: Each round, you pick one guaranteed loser. You cannot pick that person again throughout the event. If you get it wrong, you're out.

Bonus Idea #2: Same as idea #2 where you pick a winner. You cannot pick that person again throughout the event. If you get it wrong, you're out.

Bonus Idea #3: Something else.

I've been racking my brains all week for this...and I couldn't think of anything better....
