You know the one with the kid stringing at the table. I was wondering if anyone strings racquets while sitting. I've never tried it even when I owned a tabletop stringer. But I do get tired sometimes and wish there was a way to rest my legs while stringing.

I own a Klippermate and I string while sitting all the time. Usually in front of the TV; I try to make as relaxing as possible, which is why it usually takes me over an hour to string a racquet, LOL.

I would wreck my back if I tried to string while sitting :) .
I did have a colleague who had a 'gunner's' seat(or tractor seat) behind him so he could sit 'part-way' while stringing...alternating standing/sitting many times during a string job. Sort of like having a stool behind you...just to take some weight off your feet from time to time.

I actually stand while weaving and then sit while tensioning. I never saw the commercial. I think if my klipper was on a stand itnwould be different. I use my dining room table. Btw, my dad is a tiger fan/grad. I'm a ull fan/grad. Go Cajuns.

I never thought about it. I string on an island in my kitchen, and sitting isn't an option there. Maybe I should try it on my coffee table.

I used to sit but now that I have an island at home that is what I use, kinda faster standing up.

I think I sit most of the time when stringing with my klipper. Find it more comfy. My tabletop is kinda low, so standing means i have to bend over.

When seeing this commercial the only thing I can think of is the fact that he is using drop-weight on a glass table. There just must be fail in there somewhere...

I sit while stringing... I put my SP Swing on a coffee table and sit on the sofa and go for it. It's kinda slow (60 minutes is a good time) and I'm looking forward to the day I get a setup that allows me to stand up.

Sitting at that table, with the stringer as high as it is for that kid, though... would be nearly impossible to string, though! It's gotta be belly-button high.

I bought a Gamma X-Els table top and got the floor stand to go with it.
Standing and the ability to move around the machine seemed to help my efficiency and time.

What I thought

I agree with the consensus that stringing while sitting definitely slows down the process. I find myself moving all around my stringer (during the crosses) to speed up the weave. Oh well, I was hoping there was some sort of special seat someone found that would work. Thanks.

Same here. I put the Klippermate on my desk in front of my PC. It's a little cramped, but the hour goes by quickly if I'm watching something interesting.

My problem is that I don't really have a surface at the right height. If I stand, I feel like i have to bend down. If I sit, the stringer is uncomfortably high :(

I'm thinking of getting a Klippermate to string poly at low tensions - 30-40lbs. Is siting while string workable at low tensions?

Wow, string in a garage, standing on concrete. No music, tv, or any distactions, please. Once drove 2 1/2 hrs and forgot to turn the radio on. Seems to scare my passengers though.

i have an alpha string pal which is almost the same size as a k-mate. I never string sitting down, always standing. I wouldn't feel comfortable sitting down.

I still have the homemade stand/cabinet that I got 25 or more years ago with my K-mate (Court and Slope). On casters.

It's now a tool box stand/cabinet but i could take pics and dimensions if needed. My K-mate was the older style with the bigger base and drawer at the end (don't know the model).

The Klippermate was my first stringer. I used to string sitting down in a rolling office chair with the stringer sitting on top of a rolling low file cabinet. Later, I would stand and string with the Klippermate on top of a kitchen peninsula counter. It didn't make much of a difference to me.

Now I string on a Gamma 6004 standing up and couldn't imagine sitting.

me too, just got the casters as well. life is good.

Watched a guy string on a workbench sitting. May be sweet to see blocked holes at eye-level. Weaving, not so sure.

I used a folding card table as a base when I strung on my Klippermate for 5+ years so I always sat to string. Since I now use a Neos 1000 I stand 100% of the time I string and I find it much more comfortable to work this way.

I use the Kmate with one of those black and decker folding work stands, and I place a removable cabinet shelf on top of it, to bring it up to a nice height.

I think I tried for about 5 minutes to string sitting down once, but didn't like to do so.

Of course, poetically, the commercial's seated view makes stringing seem more convenient and more fun, and less like work.

When I see that commercial I always wonder why they have the kid stringing on a glass table. Not a good idea at all especially when it is not out of the question that the string can slip through the string jaws causing the arm with the weight to come down smashing through the glass.

What's the big deal about a glass tabletop? Honestly, how many people stringing with drop-weights have ever let it crash down..?
