no F1 expert rates Hamilton over Vettel right now either but you do. Like you I form my own opinions, not the experts one. Raikkonen ended up above Hamilton in the points with what was clearly a slower car. He did this after years out of the sport too. For me that makes him better. Hamilton is only best or second best if you only go by speed and nothing else, he makes tons of mistakes which are largely driving error, and his car management is poor.

As for your array of excuses for Hamilton, the fact is in his 3 years together with Button in McLaren, Button collected more total points over those 3 years than Hamilton, even if Hamilton ended up narrowly in front 2 of the 3, and Button had a top 3 (2nd place last year) for the year while Hamilton couldnt manage that any of the last 3 years. I am not sure who has more race wins in that time combined, but fact is Hamilton has been matched or even bested by Button over the overall 3 year period in the same team and essentialy with the same car. If anything I was generous to rate him 2 spots above Button.

He is rated so highly by people because he is British, he is black in a predominantly white sport, because his feud with Alonso allowed him to write some autobiographies and gain attention, and because a couple years ago he was the youngest, all those novelties together. Although interest in him has faded greatly now that someone younger than him is way better (Vettel), and since his results are no longer keeping up. Things dont look any brighter for him with his dumb decision to move to Mercedes, who currently are nowhere near the best car, and much slower than McLaren in fact, and show no signs of drastic improvement anytime soon. I dont know what he was smoking when he made that choice but I expect it wont be long before he is regretting it. Also will be interesting to see if he even is able to best Rosberg or not. Rosberg is faster than alot of people think, he would have alot of race wins in a faster car. It wouldnt surprise me if Hamilton yet again finds himself unexpectedly bested by a teammate in now an even slower car, and if that happens his stock will drop even further than it already has.

Your facts are always to your liking.

It doesn't matter if in the past 3 years Hamilton had or didn't have less points than Hamilton, every new season it starts from zero, last season is irrelevant to all counts, the fact is Hamilton is indeed the second fastest driver out there, sometimes the fastest, in one lap He is that great.

You were making fun of Schumacher for being a 43 year old losing to Rosberg (in your figurative language I understood He is nothing) now you're making Rosberg a great driver and blablabla.

Vettel is the fastest and maturing really fast, holding himself under pressure and winning the titles He should have, last year and year before. Now sorry to say, but Vettel has accomplished more than Alonzo has, and less time and He is only getting better. After this Championship I consider Vettel in the same class as Alonso, in accomplishments He has surpassed Alonso.

My poll was not about who is faster but who is "better". Read the thread title. Better as in all that it encompasses. Anyway the true definition of faster isnt just who has the fastest car. I actually defend Vettel's abilities more than most but his over the top ubers like tistrapukcipeht make me regret doing that.

Damn, people totally overhype Vettel.
Alonso showed his raw skills and talent earlier when drivers were overtaking with nothing else but their balls.
Today they just press a freakin button to enable KERS and DRS.
This sport has become a farce.

Alonso wins it anytime. It's a miracle he even finished 2nd place this season with that crappy Ferrari.
Watching Vettel creaming the field with a spoilt car, from the last place like two times this season, just shows Red Bull's superiority.

Yeah Alonso is indeed an arrogant ******* and comrade ****, but this shouldn't blur peoples opinion about their talent and skills.
Their personalty got nothing to do with their driving skills.
I can't see how anyone who watched F1 for more than 10 years now could vote for Vettel instead of Alonso.

point 1-rosberg is gonna beat hamilton when he couldn't beat him in gp2 as teammates in the same car? rosberg is quick but is yet to show it during his whole f1 career.
point2- button is much better than hamilton that ross brawn(i known just some novice) picked past his prime schumacher over the defending champ......this after rigging pitstops like at the european gp so button could beat his 37 yr old teammate barrichelo after even with a 6 race win streak struggled to beat vettel in a inferior car and barely beat him by 9 points. brawn picked ham over anaging schumacher.....button held his positons in a dog of a car, ham raced for wins.....for all your talk button only was ahead 1 out of the three years they were together(him and ham). and that was the year vettel beat button by over 100 points it was safe to say ham and the other just gave up.....
point3- from steward to alonso have said alonso is racing newey not vettel.......vettel drives a fast car that's it......someone of you forget its 80% car,20% driver......unless you really believe jenson, kimi, perez, grosjean and massa are better than schumacher....all of whom finished ahead of schu.
point4- i love how ppl pull out race like it doesn't play both ways. yes ppl celebrate ham as the 1st black but you act like it doesn't spotlight the lack of diversity in f1. just take brasil for example all the greats from fittipaldi to senna learned go karting from black mechanics but how many black drivers have come from that country. they were good enough to teach but not to drive.
point5-vettel is number 1 driver on his team to the point where they have given some of mw's equipment to vettel when seabass broke his.hence why mw had that outburst at the british gp a couple of years back. ham has always had somewhat equal support unlike the lopsided relationships you have with vettel and alonso.

If Alonso is that great why didn't He win??

A great driver still relies on equipment, it is impossible for the greatest driver ever in his best season to win Champioships with the worse car.

That is why the best ones are those that with the best (or close to the best) equipment almost never lose, the rest is their choice between money and cars.

that's not a legitimate argument....in fact it contradicts itself. best equipment means the less the driver has to push the car. if that's the case then you could put a novice in the car and win.....so that defeats yourargument about skill.
