A true TT GOAT is obligated by duty to bring his sticks and track down another TT goat when visiting an area populated with them.

Basically life is The Highlander.

Leed, do the right thing.

As everyone knows, Bridge and Tunnel refers to New Jersey and Long Island, which also includes Queens and Brooklyn. It does not refer to Westchester County for complicated reasons too complicated to explain here due to their complicated nature.

That's right. Westchester is just the "'burbs".

So, as far as my original question goes, long answer short is No.

that's why heycal calls the city the "Big Apple".

ok. enough heycal ribbing. Back to useless travel tips for LeeD.

Heycal, I'm 63 and 10 months.
G/F is 42, head scientist for USDA's microbiology floor in Albany Ca.
THANKS for all your advice. I"m prolly going to bus it into the nearest city, hang out and have breakfast there, then walk around a bit, then back to JFK.
If it's snowing lightly, the best, because g/f has never seen snow falling from the sky. That way, when we go skiing, I don't have to drive up on snowy days and put on chains....just so she can see the snow falling.

This is a subjective concept, but I would lean toward a definition that embodies daily or otherwise regular periodic commute into Manhattan by persons for primarily economic benefit while failing to assimilate with the culture of the target area of the commute.

Keep talking like this, boys, and I'm going to ask you to meet me under the clock of the Biltmore so I can teach you some manners.

I'm going to allow this.

Problem with dating older women is that they are mostly sedentary, don't do anything fun or explosive (sports guys), want to go kayaking or standup paddle, while I"m into windsurfing, snowboarding, and surfing...and a little tennis on the side.
The yoga thing is a given, as most fit women seem to like it.
I"m not fit at all. I'm skinny, not fit.

Not always true, LeeD. As a matter of fact, I need to hang out with my ex-gf, whose 7 years older than me, if I want to play tennis or platform/paddle tennis, etc, whereas you couldn't pay my young girlfriend enough to put down the magazines and the bons bons and do something sporty.

Your current GF lets you play with your Ex?

I"m 2 months from 64.
Add seven years for a possible older g/f.... I get 71.
That might be a little old for snowboarding, windsurfing, surfing, or biking, but maybe not.
Seems a little old for ATTRACTION from me though..... I don't look seriously at 20 year olds. Gotta be at least 30.
Most people say I look 45. Thanks, I know it's a stretch, but a compliment.
SEVENTY ONE? Nah, I'll pass.

Hi guys...and gals.
Flying to PuertoRico on the 15th his month, layover at LaGuardia NY. for 7 hours. Is it feasible to bus/train it in to the Village or Soho? And eat there and get back to the airport in time?
Or is another breakfast destination closer a better idea.
I haven't been to the Apple since 1989.

heycal has mentioned more than once that he enjoys playing the skin flute. He may be agreeable to a LaGuardia Men's room rendezvous... Let him take you out for a quick slice of the country's best pizza afterwards.

Yes, this is a problem as one gets older. Now that I'm fifty, there's very little chance I'd ever date anyone older again, or even my own age frankly. Different women look good for varying periods of time, but even the best of the bunch are out of the game by 50 or so/menopause.

Still alive, passed my 64th, made it home fine with a 6 hour layover in Atlanta Airport.
Playing a little tennis, windsurfing is just starting up, bought a Bio300T just to see if it really serves big...so far NO NO, my Aero500 serves bigger.
Working on the house, g/f is 42 going on 43 this year. Up and down relationship, as per usual when women are involved.

Good to hear. Now how about an update on the topic of this thread? What did you do on your layover in NY?

He never showed up at McFondles.

I sorta knew he was going to block me.

Sad, weak era we live in.

Show up for what?
It was 42 degrees, 6AM in the morning, light snow, I had no tennis rackets with me, and heading for 82 degree days and 70 degree nights in PuertoRico.
I'd be a dummy to take a cab to Manhattan at that time, or fight the trains.:):)

I ended up playing at Hudson River Pork anyway. You missed out on McDonald's and Towlie's tennis memoirs.

On cold days we use tennis gloves fashioned out of old tube sock blobs. We cut holes near the toes and play with the sock covering the handle. It works.

So next time don't be a poussaye and prepare for battle. 3.5 glory awaits.

Are you saying you sat there in the airport like a dummy for 7 hours?

Yup.
Walked every inch of each of the sections, watching the light snow fall.
Knowing we were landing that night in 71 degree nighttime temps and Caribbean days.
Last time in the Apple was in '89.

You had a seven hour layover Lee? Ah, too bad because you could've maxed out your layover by buzzing down the NJ Turnpike, I-95, etc. to Philadelphia (only 1 hr. 50 min. away), grabbed a Philly cheese steak at either Geno's or Pat's, stopped off "next door" in Camden to see their Performing Arts Center (a "don't miss!"), their art galleries and new-age spas and make it back to LGA with time to spare. Btw, as lovely as Camden is in the summer, it is absolutely drop dead georgeous in the winter.

I"m very sorry.
The layover started at 5:30AM, after a 5 hour flight from SFO. Maybe not in the mood for a PhillyCheese, although any other time of the day would have been great.
Our connector was booked solid with 10 alternates, as was the 3 following flights to PuertoRico.
Our stay at PR was for 26 days. We're from "sunny CALIFORNIA".
G/F is really allergic to low life"s, panhandlers, and the ghetto......
I"m all of the above, of course.

I was waiting for someone to bring up Camden.
It's the gleaming 500 lb. civic gorilla shining in the corner - how could such a gloriously incandescent metropolis not come to the forefront of any discussion having a "municipal" bent to it?

Philadelphia to Chicago: "hey 'Big Shoulders' .... we got our own Gary!"

(sidebar to heycal): I believe the Dutchess denizens refer to Newburgh as Camden-on-Hudson. Me? I only wish Camden was not located right across the Delaware River from Philly but directly across the Potomic River from Washington, D.C. .... and let the parasitic cocktail party crowd on Capitol Hill (from both sides of the aisle) get a good in-your-face look at the urban failures they cultivate, perpetuate and then flat out ignore in favor of some special interest, agenda-driven "more important" social issue. (all camden kidding aside, don't get me started - allowing these ghost cities to exist is a national disgrace). end of rant.

I have actually never been to Camden. But I have been to Newburgh a couple of times. Got a fancy waterfront there now.
