Ever try a Klipper stringing machine?

For $150, you seemingly can't go wrong. I may purchase one of these over the holidays. Any reason(s) why not?

I have a Klipper and have done probably 50 stringjobs on it so far. Love it.
Two things:
1) It can be difficult stringing an EXO3 Prince racquet with it, given that it is just two clamps. It can be done, but is not easy.
2) After about 15 stringjobs, one of the clamps became useless. I replaced with a Gamma clamp. Other people have noted that the clamps are fantastic, so perhaps I was unlucky.

I am very very pleased with my purchase, and have not even considered a higher end stringer. It is accurate and simple to use.

Did the clamp break? You realize that Klipper will send you a free replacement if you are the original buyer, right?

I have had mine since 95' and have had no issues. It's rock solid and I have strung well over 100 rackets with it. You have to perform occasional maintenance but that's about it. Enjoy!

I'll chime in too. I like my Klippermate. I do wish that it had a ratcheting gripper as I can never seem to find the horizotal settle point right away. It can take a minute to find that point, especially if you have to let some string out as it easily let's too much string go once the jaws ungrip the string. On my racquet there's 18 mains so that adds at least 15-18 minutes just for those mains. Usually though, it's the mains that give me the most: "Too little string. Whoops too much. Man, to little again. Uggg, time to start over." difficulties. I've done almost 20 string jobs and it still takes me 1 1/2 to 2 hr to string (including untangling the string and mounting the racquet). Granted, I've never actually used the Gamma drop weight with the clutch so I don't actually know how much it would speed things up, if at all. Still, I've saved a bundle on stringing fees and for that I'll put up with a lot in general.

i bought it last year and i saved/earned a lot of cash. i mean i strung for my team and myself. if i went to get it strung at the local dude it would cost me 20 a pop and he takes like a week or longer. i saved my friends 10bucks and they had the racket that day or the next. so if you are like me and string for yourself and a few others it is great. A+ investment

Thank you for the suggestion. The Gamma Progression 200 sounds interesting. Like it deserves a chance to compete against the Klipper for my money. Have you tried both machines?

Clamp broke, I was the original buyer, and they did not send a replacement.
Just to be clear, you sent them back a broken clamp and Klipperusa would not replace it? You know it has an unlimited lifetime guarantee on the machine and tools?

Certainly I am aware of the lifetime guarantee.
And yes, I sent it back, and a few weeks later received an email stating they would not replace this, as it did not appear to be broken under normal use. Again, I am very pleased with my Klipper overall. I was not fond of their clamps anyway (they slip much worse than the Gamma).

Hmm. I've got both and have had the opposite result. So it goes. At any rate, much to be said for steel over plastic clamps.

Agreed. I want to buy this but my dad doesn't trust on-line buying, so that means a klippermate is out of the question too.

I've had mine since 2001 and have made quite a bit of money as well. I strung racquets for my high school team and for all of my tennis-playing friends in college. Haven't had to replace anything yet, but if I do, Klipper has all the parts readily available on their site.

My friend and i were considering of buying a Klippermate or an Eagnas hawk 10. The price of the Klippermate seems pretty good.

had mine since 1996, very happy with it...granted, it is not the best looking one out there, but it does the job well...saved myself a lot of money because i like to try different string set up and also am a frequent string breaker...
as for the clamp, it is a little on the slippery side (does not hold on to the strings as it did when it was brand new), but with a little sand paper, it works well again...
i would definitely recommend this for someone who is brand new to stringing...1) because it is cheap, in case you find that stringing your own racquet is not your thing 2) portable, very easy to move from one place to another, or just throw it in the back of your car if you need to set up a temp. stand for your friends in a tourney 3) sturdy, hasnt have any problem yet ;)

My Klippermate has strung probably 300+ rackets and works great. I can do a complete string job in 30-35 minutes tops. After you have done a few you learn just how much string you need to make the tensioner go level. Over time you will speed way up!

@Donny why would you say to pick the gamma progression over the klippermate? what benefits does it have as there have been many more people praising klippermate than the gamma progression

Love my Klippermate, I've strung over 200 frames in the last 3 years and no problems yet!!! For the price, it's Unbeatable.

I've been using one for a few years -- but it still takes me over an hour to setup and string a racquet. Table height makes a pretty big difference in ergonomic usability -- has anyone tried the stand for it that Klipper sells?

Kilppermate is made in USA, the Gamma is made in China. You tell me which one you think is gonna last longer? I have had a Klipper for yrs and have had zero problems

I have had one for 20+ years. Rock solid. Has saved me lots of money stringing. I know exactly how each string job was done, which is great since I have OCD. Only downside is that it can take a while to string racquets while watching movies - I spend about 1-1.5 hours on each string job. I only string my own racquets.
