DYoung, Brands, Jamie Baker, Jack Sock all playing people I haven't heard of. I hope Alex Bolt qualifies, strong name.

Capdeville and Dancevic are pretty regular ATP players I think. Rough that James Blake is playing qualies, though maybe it helps him get in the AO with a lot of rythm.

Isn't there a way to reset the poll or something? Nadal is in it. Thread was made way too early

Why was it made too early? Apparently, from december, people had enough to talk about already. A poll is, imho, only a nice additional feature to a thread. I think there are a million more premature threads on this board.

The Donald & Brands both made it through their matches, and now The Don has to face off against James Blake in the most interesting of the second round matches.

From a British perspective, great to see Jamie Baker win his opener, as did JWard; really hope these guys can qualify. Baker will play the winner of Donald/Blake if he wins his R2.

Looking over at the womens, Jo Konta plays her first qualifier tomorrow - she'll be hopeful of making the tournament after her first win in a Slam last year in the open. Keothavong also due to begin her qualification attempt tonight as well.

Shame to see that Jack Sock had to retire from his qualy - anyone know anything?

Here's hoping Lleyton gets a cakewalk draw!! He really deserves it. even though he's always injured, the last couple of years he made fourth round against eventual champ Djokovic (2012) and Federer (2010) and could have beaten at least 8 of the remaining 16 in that draw, but didnt stand a chance against those. Hewitt beat Raonic and Berdych in Kooyong, so anyone but Fed, Murray and Djokovic probably has his work cut out for him facing Lleyton. I really hope he gets into Ferrer's quarter, with a good first round and some time to adjust. I'd really like him to go deep again and pull off some great wins. His matches with Raonic, Djokovic and Stebe were pretty awesome last year.

Is this the first thread of a non-Roland Garros-Slam where Federer isn't leading the poll?

ETA: Just saw the draws. What-the-F. Federer is 31 years old. Can't they cut him some slack? Nadal is out of 2 Grand Slams and Federer gets paired up with Andy Murray twice in a row. In his quarter are Tsonga (whom he loses to from time to time), Raonic (always dangerous) and Tomic (who is absolutely on fire at the moment).

And Ferrer's quarter is the weakest quarter ever in Grand Slam history. Wouldn't be surprised if Dimitrov made it to the quarterfinals.

Djok: obvious cakewalk, biggest name Berdych is his pidgeon. His half is pretty much a joke.

Fed ~ Murray: There are more dangerous players in Fed's draw (especially at the earlier stages) but Murray got Potro, though the Argentine was never that good at Oz.

It makes for a good story when a great champion struggles through a draw at 31 plus or loses early. Maybe they want Federer to call quits.

Djokovic draw outcakes Agassi 2003 Aussie and Nadal 2010 US Draw.

tomic is a non-issue for federer, assuming tomic even gets that far; but yes, murray will be the major match for federer, especially after fed potentially facing Davydenko.

In the first round I'm looking forward to Monfils vs. Dolgopolov, and Hewitt vs. Tipsarevic. Both should be fun.

Even though I miss seeing Nadal's name on the draw, I have a feeling that this is going to be an exciting Slam.

Good draw for Federer, well it would have been if Nadal were playing and would have been in ND's half in stead of Ferrer.

That is the only positive spin on this.

About Federer's draw: I wouldn't be too worried about Tomic and Raonic, Davydenko is the biggest threat imo, considering it will only be Federer's second match of the year.

Murray's draw: He and Delpo both got an easy route to the QF, should be a good one.

Djokovic' draw: Not much to say about his draw, book his final spot.

Ferrer's draw: The winner of this quarter will get destroyed by Djokovic in the SF, but there are some interesting names here: Baghdatis, Nishikori, Dimitrov, Janowicz and Hewitt. One of these should be able to cause an upset on Tipsy/Ferrer.

I like Murray's draw, the harder the better for him. He thrives on that. He has Federer's number now so I don't see that a problem if he faces Federer in the semis. Del Potro may be his biggest challenge. Hasse may also test him if he starts sluggishly, which he can do. Alternativey, he could come out on fire and lose only a handful of games in the first few rounds.

Federer's draw is the most difficult and I can easily see him falling before the semis. Tomic or Raonic may beat him. I can even see Tsonga getting the better of him.

Djokovic's draw seems to be the easiest. Ferrer will scurry around as usual but be beaten comprehensively. The problem for Djokovic is that he won't be thoroughly tested by the final, which may make the difference between him winning and losing this.

The only thing i'm certain of in my life is that i'm going to die someday and before that day i'm going to see Djokovic get clown draws.

Ugh, it's times like these I hate working full time, I probably won't get to anything until the semi final. IF I can record it/iplayer it before someone tells me the result!
